Abstract
The waste transfer station (WTS) is an important link in the transfer of municipal solid waste (MSW) between the community and disposal terminals. While WTSs facilitate waste collection in communities, odorous gases and bioaerosols can escape from them, thereby negatively affecting their surroundings. In this study, the concentration, particle size distribution, pathogen population, and health risks of bioaerosols were analyzed at different locations in a transfer station. The results showed that the highest viable bacterial aerosol concentration was 10,353 ± 3701 CFU/m3, which was at 5 m from the disposal site. Fifty-three bacterial species, including pathogens, were detected. Of these, 39 were human pathogenic bacteria directly originating from the WTS. Furthermore, health risk assessments indicated unacceptable levels of non-carcinogenic risk for operational workers caused by bacterial aerosols of the WTS work area. In addition, bacterial aerosols may pose a severe health risk to children within a 15 m area of the WTS. The results of this study provide a scientific basis to control and reduce the risk associated with bioaerosol exposure in solid WTSs.

Abstract
To evaluate the antimicrobial resistance and virulence gene characteristics of highly pathogenic Proteus mirabilis. In this study, we isolated P. mirabilis CC15031 from diarrhea dogs in China, tested the median lethal dose (LD50), and measured the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of 10 different antibiotics commonly used in veterinary clinic. Meanwhile, we presented the complete genome sequence annotations to analyze the virulence and resistance formation mechanism. The results showed that the CC15031 presented relatively potent pathogenicity in mice (LD50 = 0.57 × 106 CFU) and exhibited a high degree of resistance to all the tested antimicrobial agents. The CC15031 genome of 4,031,742 bp with 3,745 predicted genes had an average gene length of 917 bp and 38.99% guanine-cytosine content. A new variant of an integrative and conjugative element with a type IV secretion system (217,446 bp) conferring multidrug resistance was identified and characterized by structural analysis in CC15031. These data provide a foundation for understanding the genomic features and antimicrobial resistance mechanisms of this pathogen.

Abstract
Urinary tract infections (UTIs) still represent a significant bother for women and result in high costs to the health system. Increasing antimicrobial resistance has stimulated interest in non-antibiotic prophylaxis of recurrent UTIs. Evidence shows that the microorganisms inhabit many sites of the body, including the urinary tract which has long been assumed to be sterile in healthy individuals, might have a role in maintaining urinary health. Studies of the urinary microbiota (UM) have identified remarkable differences between healthy populations and those with urologic diseases. The depletion of these organisms in women susceptible to UTIs raised the question of whether artificial supplementation of these microorganisms as probiotics could lower infection rates. In the literature, probiotic interventions were shown to have some efficacy in the treatment and prevention of urogenital infections. Despite previous controversy regarding the use of probiotics, as treatment for UTIs, there are increasing signs that it may be possible to use them as a first step in regulating the UM so as to reduce the risk of or as a treatment for certain urinary diseases. However, further future clinical trials, involving large numbers of patients, will be mandatory to achieve definite evidence of the preventive and curative role of probiotics in UTIs. Details about correct formulations in terms of amount of bacteria, viability and associated growth factors, will be required in order to standardize the administration schedule and achieve homogeneous and comparable results on selected patients.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To estimate from the literature review, the interest of hygienic and behavioural measures and the use of food supplements (herbal) to prevent female urinary tract infection. METHODS Pubmed research was focused on the efficiency of prophylactic measures in recurrent cystisis management. RESULTS Due to many predisposing factors such as anatomical charasteristics, hydration and lifestyle, cystisis is more common in female subjects than in male. The infection is mostly caused by uropathgenic Escherichia coli which is mostly found in the intestine. Recomendations propose a better use of antibiotics that causes undesirable side effects (such as nausea, candidiasis) and favours the development of resistant bacterial strains. Hygienic measures, good hydration, and respecting a good urinary rythm help to protect from new infectious episodes. Food supplements such as cranberry or D-mannose can also interfere with the recurrence of cystisis, by preventing the bacteria sticking to urinary tract epithelia. Their efficency is relative and seems to be dose-dependent. Better tolerated than prophylactic antibiotic treatments, they can increase times of respite. CONCLUSION Using prophylactic treatment still have an interest, even if they are questionable. Moreover, the combination of these methods (diet and lifestyle advice) can be an alternative to long-term prophylactic medical treatment.
