Abstract
AIM This study assessed adolescents' satisfaction with services received during their most recent abortion and the factors associated with satisfaction at reproductive health centres in the Greater Accra region of Ghana. DESIGN A facility-based cross-sectional survey was used for this study. METHODS Overall, 254 adolescent girls aged between 15 and 19 years, who had an abortion within 1 week of the study period were recruited for the study. All the 254 respondents were recruited consecutively as they visited health facilities for abortion services from March 2019 to February 2020. Written informed consent was signed by respondents, and data were collected using the Patient Satisfaction with Nursing Care Quality Questionnaire, and the data were analysed using Stata version 15.0. Univariate, bivariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were conducted. RESULTS A majority of adolescents reported being satisfied with the abortion services they received. Ample waiting space and the system of 'first-come-first-served' were the highest rated elements of service satisfaction. Adolescents were least satisfied with the inadequacy of instructions and lack of information on medications received and their therapeutic or side effects. Ethnicity, having a stable intimate partner and perceived adequacy of staff were the factors associated with satisfaction with abortion services. CONCLUSION Adolescents are unique group of people with peculiar health needs. If they are treated with respect and dignity, they are likely to be satisfied with services received from the reproductive health centres offering comprehensive abortion care. IMPACT The study addresses adolescent satisfaction with abortion care received; if health providers treat adolescent seeking abortion care with respect, friendly and non-judgemental attitude, it will enable adolescents to seek abortion care from qualified professionals instead of unskilled service providers to reduce maternal mortality. PATIENT'S CONTRIBUTION Patients from 11 reproductive centres responded to the questionnaire used for the data collection.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The satisfaction of critical care patients with the nursing care they receive is a key indicator of the quality of hospital care. OBJECTIVES The objectives of this study were to analyse the level of satisfaction of critical care patients in relation to the nursing care received and to determine the relationship between the level of satisfaction and sociodemographic, clinical, and organisational variables. DESIGN This was a prospective, descriptive correlational study. SETTING AND METHODS The population consisted of all patients discharged from the intensive care units (ICUs) of 19 hospitals in Spain between December 2018 and December 2019. The level of satisfaction was measured using the validated Nursing Intensive Care Satisfaction Scale, and sociodemographic, clinical, and organisational data were collected. RESULTS Participants' mean age (n = 677) was 59.7 (standard deviation: 16.1), and 62.8% of them were men (n = 426). Satisfaction with the nursing care received was 5.66 (SD: 0.68) out of a possible 6. The score for overall satisfaction presented statistically significant relationships with the hours of mechanical ventilation (p = 0.034), with the participant's perception of own health status (p = 0.01), with the participant's perceived degree of own recovery (p = 0.01), with the hospital's complexity level (p = 0.002), with the type of hospital (p = 0.005), and with the type of ICU (p = 0.004). Finally, the logistic regression model shows that the Nursing Intensive Care Satisfaction Scale score was not linked to age or sex but did have a statistically significant relationship with the perceived degree of recovery (p < 0.001) and the type of ICU (p=<0.001). The variables that predicted satisfaction were age, degree of recovery, and the type of ICU. CONCLUSION Several studies show that patient satisfaction is related to the patient's perceived health status and perceived degree of recovery, a finding that is confirmed in our study. Our study moves beyond these outcomes to show that the hours of mechanical ventilation and the characteristics of the hospital also have a significant relationship with patients' satisfaction.

Abstract
Objective The purpose of this study was to determine patients' perceptions of nurse caring behaviors and to identify factors associated with these perceptions. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted at three referral hospitals in Ethiopia. A consecutive sample of male and female patients (n = 652, response rate 98.8%) was interviewed using the Amharic version of the Caring Behaviors Inventory-16 (CBI-16, including four subscales: Assurance, Knowledge and skill, Respectful, and Connectedness) and the Patient Satisfaction Instrument (PSI). Socio-demographic and clinical factors associated with perceptions of caring behaviors were identified using multiple linear regression analysis. Results Patients' perceptions of nurse caring behaviors were high (total Mean = 4.86, SD = 0.72). Behaviors related to the Assurance subscale were rated the highest. The multiple linear regression analysis result showed several socio-demographic and clinical factors statistically significantly associated with patients' perceptions of caring behaviors (total mean scores). Patients who were 40-49 years (B = -0.19, P = 0.012) and single (B = -0.13, P = 0.03) scored lower on total CBI-16 scores. Whereas, patients who had a higher educational level (B = 0.35, P = 0.001), cared for at surgery units (B = 0.11, P = 0.027), and reported having spent more time with a nurse in the past 8-h shift (B = 0.16, P < 0.001) were more likely to have higher perceptions of the care they received. The CBI-16 was positively correlated with satisfaction with received care, as measured with the Patient Satisfaction Instrument (r = 0.62, P < 0.001). Conclusion Hospitalized patients in Ethiopia have overall high perceptions of nurse caring behaviors, especially with regard to physical-based caring, while their expectations of emotional-focused care are lower. We identified patients who were in need of care, patients aged 40-49 years and single. The time spent with nurses plays a pivotal role in patients' perceptions of nurse caring behaviors.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Patient satisfaction with nursing care is an indicator of patient satisfaction with the hospital stay in general. The Nursing Intensive Care Satisfaction Scale is the only scale about patient satisfaction with nursing care received in an intensive care unit that incorporates the critically ill patient's perspective into its design and validation. We validated the scale nationally, incorporating intensive care units at public and private hospitals of different levels of complexity in Spain. OBJECTIVES The objective of this study was to validate in Spanish intensive care units the Nursing Intensive Care Satisfaction Scale, a patient-centred questionnaire that evaluates recently discharged intensive care patients' satisfaction with the nursing care they received. DESIGN We used a psychometric quantitative methodology and a descriptive cross-sectional design. SETTING AND PARTICIPANTS The study was conducted in intensive care units at level II and III public and private hospitals throughout Spain. The study population was all patients discharged from intensive care units from December 2018 to December 2019 from the 19 participating hospitals. We used consecutive sampling until reaching a sample size of 677 patients. The assessment instruments were given to patients at discharge and 48 h later to measure temporal stability. METHODS The validation process included the analysis of internal consistency (Cronbach's α coefficient), temporal stability (test-retest), construct validity through a confirmatory factor analysis, and criterion validity using the Pearson correlation coefficient and three criterion items that assessed similar constructs. RESULTS The reliability of the scale was 0.97, and the factors obtained values between 0.87 and 0.96. The intraclass correlation coefficient for the total scale was 0.83, indicating good temporal stability. Construct validity showed a good fit and a four-factor structure, in accordance with the theoretical model. Criterion validity presented a correlation that was between moderate and high (range: 0.46 to 0.57). CONCLUSIONS The Nursing Intensive Care Satisfaction Scale has good psychometric properties, demonstrating its ability to accurately measure patient satisfaction across a range of contexts in Spain. Continuous monitoring of satisfaction will allow nurses to identify areas for improvement that can increase the quality of care.

Abstract
AIM To evaluate patients' satisfaction with the quality of nursing care and examine associated factors. DESIGN A cross-sectional, descriptive survey study. METHODS The sample was composed of 635 patients discharged from a private hospital. Data were collected using "Patient Satisfaction with Nursing Care Quality Questionnaire" with a total of 19 items, and a questionnaire designed to record socio-demographic characteristics and medical histories between January 1-May 31, 2015. RESULTS Patients were more satisfied with the "Concern and Caring by Nurses" and less satisfied with the "Information You Were Given." Patients (63.9%) described nursing care offered during hospitalization as excellent. Patients who were 18-35 years old, married, college or university graduates, treated at the surgery and obstetrics-gynaecology units, and patients who stated their health as excellent and hospitalized once or at least five times were more satisfied with the nursing care. According to this study, the nurses needed to show greater amount of interest to the information-giving process.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Patient satisfaction is at the forefront of quality care and patient outcomes. The literature identifies the discrepancy between nurse and patient perceptions in a variety of care settings; few studies have investigated the perceptions of care in a critical care unit. Understanding the perceptions in a critical care unit is necessary to optimize organizational performance related to quality, safety, patient-centered care, and efficiency. OBJECTIVE The purpose of the study was to determine whether a discrepancy exists between what patients and families perceive as satisfaction with their care as compared with the nurses' perception of what constitutes positive patient satisfaction in a medical critical care unit. METHODS A cross-sectional, prospective study was conducted to assess patient-perceived satisfaction with nursing care versus nursing perceptions in the medical intensive care unit. A convenience sample of patients and/or family members and the nurses providing their care was conducted. The validated Patient Satisfaction with Nursing Care Quality Questionnaire and Nurse's Assessment of the Patient's Expectations Questionnaire were used to assess perceptions. Patients and/or their family members and nurses' responses were evaluated as matched pairs. The data were analyzed using Spearman correlation. RESULTS Forty-eight matched pairs of questionnaires were completed. There was not a correlation (r = 0.135; 95% confidence interval, -0.16 to 0.41; P = .363) between the overall patient and nurse averages for common questions. The analysis of the individual patient and nurse items revealed statistically significant correlations between only 2 of the 19 items, information given (P = .027) and recognition of opinions (P = .043).Correlations within patient questionnaires were noted in some areas such as patients' perception of quality of care and expectations, overall quality of nursing care, and patient expectations and patients' likelihood to recommend the hospital to family and friends. Patient satisfaction was influenced by a number of factors, most notably patient expectations. IMPLICATIONS FOR PRACTICE Nurses' perceptions of positive patient satisfaction in critical care are incongruent with patients' perceptions. Improving nurses' awareness of the patient experience could improve patient satisfaction. Further studies examining patient expectations could be beneficial in improving patient satisfaction in the critical care setting.

Abstract
Objective Nursing care is one of the most important components of health care and patient expectation toward nursing care is being rising. Accordingly, patients’ expectation needs to be managed adequately in order to improve outcomes and decrease liability through their perception. To improve the outcome based on the expectation of patients, we need to consider patients’ perception to the care they received. So this study aims to identifies the perceptions toward nursing care and their associated factors. Result From a total of 281 admitted patients 151 (53.7%) were females; 136 (48.4%) were found in the age group of 21–30 years with mean age of 30 (11 ± SD) years. The mean score of overall perception were 62.6 ± 17.9 (95% CI 60.79–64.37). Among all 154 (54.8%) participants had poor perception to nursing care. Occupation, ward and expectation had association with perception. Patient’s level of perception towards nursing care was poor (54.7%) and ward where patients admitted, expectation of patients, occupation of patients and duration of hospital stay were significantly associated with patients’ perception. So that health institutions and nurses should focus on perception of their clients.

Abstract
No studies have examined the association between patient satisfaction and the allocation of nursing care hours using a workload management system. The aim of this study is to examine the correlation between inpatients’ perceived satisfaction with nursing care and nursing workload management in a Singapore hospital. A secondary data analysis was performed based on the results of 270 patients’ perceived satisfaction measured by the Revised Humane Caring Scale and nursing workload management data extracted from the TrendCare Patient Acuity System. Data were collected from March to October 2013. There were weak positive ( rs = .212 to rs = .120) and negative ( rs = −.120 to rs = −.196) correlations between patient satisfaction and nursing workload. Nursing leaders should build positive work environment through maximizing efficient resource allocation and adequate staffing to deliver safe patient care. Future studies could involve other patient outcomes such as incidences of fall and pressure ulcer.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To investigate patients' satisfaction with nursing care by measuring the gap between patients' expectations of care and perceptions of the actual care provided and to identify the areas of nursing care that need improvement. SUBJECTS AND METHODS A cross-sectional survey was conducted among patients who were admitted to the Departments of Medicine and Surgery at King Saud Medical City, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. A modified Service Quality (SERVQUAL) instrument was adapted to collect information from a convenience sample of 432 patients from November 25, 2012, to February 3, 2013. The instrument comprised 22 pairs of questions assessing 5 dimensions of the nursing care provided to patients during hospitalizations. The mean patient expectations and perceptions as well as the gap score values for each dimension of nursing service were tested for differences between the mean scores of the sample at a level of significance of 0.05 using a t test. RESULTS The gap score for all of the 5 dimensions of nursing services were: responsiveness, -1.71; reliability, -1.48; tangibles, -1.36; assurance, -1.26, and empathy, -0.96. Service quality across the dimensions of responsiveness and reliability was statistically significant (p < 0.05). This result indicated that patients were not satisfied with the nursing service quality in relation to all dimensions. CONCLUSION Our study showed negative gaps for the 5 nursing service quality dimensions evaluated. This could provide nurses with information about the aspects of nursing care that promote more positive patient outcomes and satisfaction.
