Metastatic versus primary oncocytic papillary adenocarcinoma of the endometrium: a report of a case and review of the literature

Case report: Renal cell carcinoma with metastasis to the myometrium

Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is well known for its ability to metastasize to different organs, but the involvement of gynecological organs is rare. Our case represents the first case of bilateral RCC with metastasis to the myometrium. The patient was a 60-year-old woman who underwent bilateral robotic partial nephrectomy surgeries for clear cell RCC, low-grade, low-stage with negative margins. Her 1-year postoperative computed tomography scan showed an enlarging necrotic uterine mass. She underwent a debulking excision, including hysterectomy, with pathology showing metastatic RCC to the uterus. The patient developed widespread metastatic disease, and died months later of metastatic RCC.

Atypical presentations and rare metastatic sites of renal cell carcinoma: a review of case reports

Renal cell carcinoma is a potentially lethal cancer with aggressive behavior and a propensity for metastatic spread. Due to the fact that the patterns of metastases from renal cell carcinomas are not clearly defined, there have been several reports of cases of renal cell carcinoma associated with rare metastatic sites and atypical presenting symptoms. The present review focuses on these atypical rare clinical presentations of renal cell carcinomas both at the time of diagnosis of the primary tumor but also in the years after radical nephrectomy.

A rare case of renal and uterine clear cell carcinoma: Which is the primary tumour?

Renal cell carcinoma to the uterus is rare. We describe a 52-year old lady who presented with progressive abdominal distension and computerized tomogram scan of the abdomen showing two pathologies; uterine and right renal tumour. It was initially thought to be two distinct tumours (double pathology). Radical nephrectomy and total abdominal hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy was performed concurrently. Histopathological evaluation of the uterine and right renal tumour however surprised us with a rare form of metastasis from a renal tumour to the uterus. The method of differentiating primary renal cell carcinoma with uterine metastasis, from primary uterine carcinoma with renal metastasis, via immunohistochemistry, is described.
