Elevated FAPI Activity in an Adult Brodie Abscess

ABSTRACT

We report an adult Brodie abscess with elevated activity of 18 F-FDG and 68 Ga-FAPI (fibroblast activating protein inhibitor), mimicking bone metastasis. Our case illustrates that Brodie abscess should also be contemplated in the differential diagnosis of osteolytic lesions with increased 68 Ga-FAPI uptake.

Elevated 68 Ga-FAPI Activity in Klebsiella pneumoniae Invasion Syndrome

ABSTRACT

Klebsiella pneumoniae invasion syndrome is a rare disease associated with primary liver abscess and secondary extrahepatic infection. We report a case of K. pneumoniae invasion syndrome with elevated 68 Ga-FAPI uptake, mimicking malignancy with multiple metastases. Our case illustrated that K. pneumoniae invasion syndrome should be considered as a possible etiology when diagnosing multiple 68 Ga-FAPI-avid liver foci with metastatic lesions. Besides, PET/CT could be an integrated tool to search for systemic occult lesions in K. pneumoniae invasion syndrome.

68 Ga-FAPI and 18 F-FDG Uptake in a Patient With Esophageal Candida Infection

ABSTRACT

A 67-year-old woman presented with dysphagia for 2 months. Enhanced chest CT suggested thickening of the esophageal wall, which was suspected to be a malignancy. The patient then underwent 18 F-FDG and 68 Ga-FAPI PET/CT. Increased uptake was observed in both tracers in the thickened esophageal wall. However, biopsy demonstrated candida infection of esophagus. After treatment, the symptoms of the patient were relieved.

Elevated 68 Ga-FAPI-04 Activity Due to Staphylococcus aureus Intracranial Infection

ABSTRACT

A 37-year-old man was admitted to our hospital after experiencing syncope. An MRI of his head revealed multiple foci of abnormal signal, which could potentially be metastases. The patient then underwent a 68 Ga-FAPI-04 PET/MRI examination, which revealed multiple FAPI-avid foci in the brain. Upon analyzing the cerebrospinal fluid, it was found that the patient had a Staphylococcus aureus infection. The results suggest that 68 Ga-FAPI-04 PET has the potential to be a valuable tool in the visualization of intracranial infectious lesions.

Syphilis Mimicking Malignant Pulmonary Tumor With Nodal and Bone Metastasis on 18 F-FDG PET/CT

ABSTRACT

A 52-year-old man suffering left pleuritic pain underwent a chest CT showing a subpleural pulmonary nodule in the left upper lobe. Because of the possibility of a lung tumor, he was referred for 18 F-FDG PET/CT. The scan revealed FDG uptake in the pulmonary nodule, in an upper right paratracheal lymph node, and at 4 destructive bone lesions. Pathologic examination after pulmonary biopsy manifested only the presence of inflammatory cells. Further clinical history research proved risky sexual behavior with a positive syphilis serology test. A follow-up PET/CT 7 months after penicillin therapy showed a complete metabolic response of all the lesions.

68 Ga-FAPI and 18 F-FDG PET/CT in Intravenous Leiomyomatosis

ABSTRACT

Intravenous (IV) leiomyomatosis is a rare IV disease. Our case presents 68 Ga-FAPI and 18 F-FDG PET/CT findings of IV leiomyomatosis in a 37-year-old woman. Intravenous leiomyomatosis shows only mild FDG but intense 68 Ga-FAPI activity on PET/CT studies. In this case, 68 Ga-FAPI was superior to 18 F-FDG PET/CT in detecting IV leiomyomatosis.
