Abstract
Plexiform schwannoma of the lacrimal gland of the palpebral lobe has not been previously described. This 41-year-old male presented with a 2-year history of a left upper eyelid mass and associated regional irritation. MRI of the head and orbits confirmed a left superolateral multinodular mass centered on the palpebral lobe of the left lacrimal gland. Excision revealed a schwannoma of the plexiform subtype.

Abstract
Plexiform schwannoma is a rare subtype of schwannoma. In this report, we present a case of plexiform schwannoma arising from the sciatic, tibial, and peroneal nerves. A 54-year-old man presented with a painful palpable mass extending from the left posterior thigh to the calf. Magnetic resonance imaging showed multiple bead-like nodular structures along the sciatic, tibial, and peroneal nerve pathway. The nodular lesions showed uniform signal intensity on T1-weighted imaging. On T2-weighted imaging, each nodule showed an eccentric area of relatively low signal intensity surrounded by an area of higher signal intensity and a low-intensity rim. Plexiform schwannoma or neurofibroma was considered as the preoperative diagnosis. Because of the patient's severe symptoms and strong desire for relief, tumor enucleation of the largest painful nodule was performed, and plexiform schwannoma was confirmed pathologically.

Abstract
Benign peripheral non-cranial nerve sheath tumors are rare lesions, including both schwannomas and neurofibromas. These tumors arise from Schwann cells, and may originate from any peripheral, cranial, or autonomic nerve. Most of them are localized and sporadic but multifocal systemic forms can occur. Cervical sympathetic chain, brachial plexus, cervical plexus and spinal roots and nerves are the major nerve systems commonly affected. Dumbbell-shaped intra- and extradural tumors occur most commonly in the cervical spine, as well as purely extradural and paravertebral tumors. The management of these tumors has improved greatly owing to the developments in imaging techniques and surgical innovations such as endoscopically assisted approaches and robotic surgery. Microsurgical intracapsular excision of the tumor helped by the use of intraoperative fluorescent dyes and intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring minimize postoperative neural deficit, since most schwannomas are encapsulated. Most tumors can be removed with a low rate of complications and recurrence. Radiotherapy should be considered for growing lesions that are not amenable to surgery. In asymptomatic patients, observation and serial scans is an option for elderly infirm patients.
