Abstract
We report here the realization and commissioning of an experiment dedicated to the study of the optical properties of light-matter hybrids constituted of crystalline samples embedded in an optical cavity. The experimental assembly developed offers the unique opportunity to study the weak and strong coupling regimes between a tunable optical cavity in cryogenic environment and low energy degrees of freedom, such as phonons, magnons, or charge fluctuations. We describe here the setup developed that allows for the positioning of crystalline samples in an optical cavity of different quality factors, the tuning of the cavity length at cryogenic temperatures, and its optical characterization with a broadband time domain THz spectrometer (0.2-6 THz). We demonstrate the versatility of the setup by studying the vibrational strong coupling in CuGeO3 single crystal at cryogenic temperatures.

Abstract
A facile one-step route was developed to synthesize crystalline CuGeO₃ nanowire/graphene composites (CGCs). Crystalline CuGeO₃ nanowires were tightly covered and anchored by graphene sheets, forming a layered structure. Subsequently, CGCs were exploited as electrode materials for lithium ion batteries (LIBs). The reversible formation of Li₂O buffer layer and elastic graphene sheets accommodated the volume change during the charge and discharge processes. CGC containing 37 wt% graphene exhibited a superior electrochemical performance, that is, a remarkable reversible capacity (1265 mA h g(-1) for the first cycle), an outstanding cyclic performance (853 mA h g(-1) after 50 cycles under a current density of 200 mA g(-1)), a high coulombic efficiency, and an excellent rate capability. Clearly, CGCs may stand out as a promising anode material for LIBs.

Abstract
By using perturbation calculation and numerical diagonalization, the low-energy spin dynamics of the Shastry-Sutherland model is investigated with particular attention to the two-particle coherent motion. In addition to spin-singlet- and triplet-bound states, we find novel branches of coherent motion of a bound quintet pair, which are usually unstable because of repulsion. Unusual dispersion observed in neutron-scattering measurements is explained by the present theory. The importance of the effects of phonons is also pointed out.
