Robustness of Wave-Particle Duality under Unruh Effect

By considering a uniformly accelerated two-level system in an initial superposition state of a qubit, we investigate the loss of coherence induced by the acceleration. In addition, we investigate the impact of acceleration on the complementarity relation in a quantum interferometric circuit or quantum scattering circuit. We present an alternative approach to exploring acceleration effects through examination of quantum coherence decay and degradation in the interference pattern. Our investigations help to provide understanding of the consequences of decoherence induced by the Unruh effect on the wave-particle duality of a uniformly accelerated qubit.

Unruh Effect without Thermality

We show that uniformly accelerated detectors can display genuinely thermal features even if the Kubo-Martin-Schwinger (KMS) condition fails to hold. These features include satisfying thermal detailed balance and having a Planckian response identical to cases in which the KMS condition is satisfied. In this context, we discuss that satisfying the KMS condition for accelerated trajectories is just sufficient but not necessary for the Unruh effect to be present in a given quantum field theory. Furthermore, we extract the necessary and sufficient conditions for the response function of an accelerated detector to be thermal in the infinitely adiabatic limit. This analysis provides new insight about the interplay between the KMS condition and the Unruh effect, and a solid framework in which the robustness of the Unruh effect against deformations of quantum field theories (perhaps Lorentz-violating) can be answered unambiguously.

Quantum metrology and estimation of Unruh effect

We study the quantum metrology for a pair of entangled Unruh-Dewitt detectors when one of them is accelerated and coupled to a massless scalar field. Comparing with previous schemes, our model requires only local interaction and avoids the use of cavities in the probe state preparation process. We show that the probe state preparation and the interaction between the accelerated detector and the external field have significant effects on the value of quantum Fisher information, correspondingly pose variable ultimate limit of precision in the estimation of Unruh effect. We find that the precision of the estimation can be improved by a larger effective coupling strength and a longer interaction time. Alternatively, the energy gap of the detector has a range that can provide us a better precision. Thus we may adjust those parameters and attain a higher precision in the estimation. We also find that an extremely high acceleration is not required in the quantum metrology process.

Relativistic motion generates quantum gates and entanglement resonances

We show that the relativistic motion of a quantum system can be used to generate quantum gates. The nonuniform acceleration of a cavity is used to generate well-known two-mode quantum gates in continuous variables. Observable amounts of entanglement between the cavity modes are produced through resonances that appear by repeating periodically any trajectory.
