Abstract
Resonant excitation of high-index dielectric nanostructures and their coupling with molecular excitons provide great opportunities for engineering adaptable platforms for hybrid functional optical devices. Here, we numerically calculate resonance coupling of nonradiating anapole states to molecular excitons within silicon nanosphere-J-aggregate heterostructures under illumination with radially polarized cylindrical vector beams. The results show that the resonance coupling is accompanied by a scattering peak around the exciton transition frequency, and the anapole state splits into a pair of anticrossing eigenmodes with a mode splitting energy of ≈200m e V. We also investigate the resonance coupling as a function of the J-aggregate parameters, such as thickness, exciton transition linewidth, and oscillator strength. Resonant coupling of the anapole states and J-aggregate heterostructures could be a promising platform for future nanophotonic applications such as in information processing and sensing.

Abstract
High refractive index dielectic metasurfaces are being increasingly studied for their novel light-matter interactions such as Huygen's lens, absolute transmission and complete absorption. Liquid crystal is a versatile medium with high dielectric anisotropy and hence interaction of light with the dielectric metasurfaces immersed in liquid crystal medium show complex behaviour compared to isotropic media. Most of the investigations on liquid crystal based electromagnetic response of dielectric metasurfaces focus on tunability of resonant frequencies and switching between the resonant states as a function of external stimuli such as electric field, temperature, etc. In the current work we present a detailed numerical investigation based on studies of scattering response, near-field and far-field radiation profiles of cubic Tellurium metasurfaces as a function of liquid crystal orientations in infrared frequencies. We show that the near-field and far-field radiation profiles of primary resonant modes-electric dipoles and magnetic dipoles reorient as a function of liquid crystal orientations. In particular, we study the effect of liquid crystal orientations on novel non-radiative states called anapoles. It is observed that liquid crystal orientations effect the excitation and orientation of anapole states within the Tellurium structures. This paves way for design of an electrically-driven switch between non-radiative and radiative states. Further, controlling the near-field and far-field radiation profiles opens up possibilities in designing liquid crystal based tunable multi-functional metasurfaces which can change the directionality of incident light.

Abstract
The excitation of a nonradiating anapole in a high-index dielectric nanosphere is an effective pathway for enhancing light absorption. Here, we investigate the effect of localized lossy defects on the nanoparticle based on Mie scattering and multipole expansion theories and find its low sensitivity to absorption loss. The scattering intensity can be switched by tailoring the defect distribution of the nanosphere. For a high-index nanosphere with homogeneous loss distributions, the scattering abilities of all resonant modes reduce rapidly. By introducing loss in the strong field regions of the nanosphere, we achieve independent tuning of other resonant modes without breaking the anapole mode. As the loss increases, the electromagnetic scattering coefficients of the anapole and other resonant modes show opposite trends, along with strongly suppressed corresponding multipole scattering. While regions with strong electric fields are more susceptible to loss, the anapole's inability to emit or absorb light as a dark mode makes it hard to change. Our findings provide new opportunities for the design of multi-wavelength scattering regulation nanophotonic devices via local loss manipulation on dielectric nanoparticles.

Abstract
Metasurfaces have attracted a great deal of attention from researchers due to their prominent optical properties. In particular, metasurfaces may consist of structures possessing optical anapole resonances with strong field confinement and substantially suppressed scattering. As a result, such nanostructures display enhanced nonlinear optical properties. In this paper by means of three-dimensional finite-difference time-domain simulations, the ability of anapole modes in high-index dielectric metasurfaces with circular nanopores is shown. In the vicinity of the anapole state, the effective optical Kerr nonlinearity increases by orders of magnitude. Simultaneously, the optical transmission of the metasurface can reach high values up to unity.

Abstract
The electromagnetic fields distributed on the surface region of the nanostructure is very important to improve the performance of the sensor. Here, we proposed a highly sensitive sensor based on toroidal dipole (TD) governed by bound state in the continuum (BIC) in all-dielectric metasurface consisting of single non-coaxial core-shell cylinder nanostructure array. The excitation of TD resonance in a single nanostructure is still challenging. The designed nanostructure not only supports TD resonance in a single nanostructure but also has very high Q-factor. More importantly, its electric field distributes at the surface of outer cylinder-shell, which is very suitable for biosensing. To evaluate the sensing performance of our proposed structure, we investigated the sensitivity and the figure of merit (FOM) of nanostructure with different structural parameters. Maximum sensitivity and FOM can reach up to 342 nm/RIU and 1295 when the asymmetric parameter d =10 nm. These results are of great significance to the research of TD resonance and the development of ultrasensitive sensor.

Abstract
Nano- and microstructures of silicon (Si) exhibit electric and magnetic Mie resonances in the optical regime, providing a novel platform for controlling light at the nanoscale and enhancing light-matter interactions. In this Review, we present recent development of colloidal Si nanoparticles (NPs) that have wide range of applications in nanophotonics. Following brief summary of synthesis methods of amorphous and crystalline Si particles with high sphericity, optical responses of single Si particles placed on a substrate are overviewed. Then, the capability as a nanoantenna to control light-matter interactions is discussed in different systems. Finally, collective optical responses of Si NPs in solution are presented and the application potentials are discussed.

Abstract
The possibility to achieve unprecedented multiplexing of light-matter interaction in nanoscale is of virtue importance from both fundamental science and practical application points of view. Cylindrical vector beams (CVBs) manifested as polarization vortices represent a robust and emerging degree of freedom for information multiplexing with increased capacities. Here, we propose and demonstrate massively-encoded optical data storage (ODS) by harnessing spatially variant electric fields mediated by segmented CVBs. By tight focusing polychromatic segmented CVBs to plasmonic nanoparticle aggregates, record-high multiplexing channels of ODS through different combinations of polarization states and wavelengths have been experimentally demonstrated with a low error rate. Our result not only casts new perceptions for tailoring light-matter interactions utilizing structured light but also enables a new prospective for ultra-high capacity optical memory with minimalist system complexity by combining CVB's compatibility with fiber optics.

Abstract
In the past several years, the anapole mode has received increasing interest and has been used in numerous applications. However, little relevant work exists on localized spoof plasmon polaritons (LSSPs), which are limited by the excitation of the electric dipole in a symmetrical structure. The lack of an electric dipole makes the excitation of the anapole moment difficult. In this study, we experimentally demonstrate that compact planar metadisks can exhibit a radiationless anapole mode of LSSPs at microwave frequencies. By integrating large and small split-ring resonators, the strong interaction between conductive and inductive coupling is shown to excite the electric dipole. The necessary condition for excitation of the electric dipole using the hybrid coupling mechanism is derived by analyzing equivalent LCR circuits. The proposed structure exhibits nearly equal magnitudes of the toroidal and electric dipoles. Moreover, analytical and numerical approaches are developed to explain the physics of the hybrid coupling mechanism accurately. Further experimental measurements confirm the theoretical predictions.
