Supersymmetric Grand Unified Theory Contributions and Model Independent Extractions of CP Phases

Constraints on new physics from the quark mixing unitarity triangle

The status of the unitary triangle beyond the standard model including the most recent results on Deltam[s] on dilepton asymmetries and on width differences is presented. Even allowing for general new physics loop contributions the unitarity triangle must be very close to the standard model result. With the new measurements from the Fermilab Tevatron, we obtain for the first time a significant constraint on new physics in the Bs sector. We present the allowed ranges of new physics contributions to DeltaF=2 processes and of the time-dependent CP asymmetry in Bs-->J/psivarphi decays.

Consistent resolution of possible anomalies in B0-->phi K(S) and B+ --> eta'K+ Decays

In the framework of R-parity violating (R(p)) supersymmetry, we try to find a consistent explanation for both recently measured CP asymmetry in B0 --> phi K(S) decay and the large branching ratio of B+/- --> eta'K+/- decay, which are inconsistent with the standard model (SM) prediction. We also investigate other charmless hadronic B -- >PP and B --> VP decay modes whose experimental data favor the SM: for instance, recently measured CP asymmetries in B0 --> eta(')K(S) and B0 -- >J/Psi K(S). We find that all the observed data can be accommodated for certain values of R(p) couplings.

CP asymmetry in B-->phiK(S) decays in left-right models and its implications for Bs decays

In left-right models the gluonic penguin contribution to b-->ss;s transition is enhanced by m(t)/m(b) due to the presence of (V+A) currents and by large values of loop functions. Together those effects may overcome the suppression due to the small left-right mixing angle xi less, similar 0.013. Two independent new phases in the B-->phiK(S) decay amplitude appearing in a large class of left-right models can modify the time-dependent CP asymmetry in this decay mode by O(1) and explain the recent BABAR and Belle CP asymmetry measurements in this channel. This scenario implies observable deviations from the standard model also in B(s) decays which could be measured at Tevatron and LHC.

Constraints on the phase gamma and new physics from B --> kpi decays

Recent results from CLEO on B-->Kpi indicate that the phase gamma may be substantially different from that obtained from other fit to the KM matrix elements in the standard model. We show that gamma extracted using B-->Kpi,pipi is sensitive to new physics occurring at loop level. It provides a powerful method to probe new physics in electroweak penguin interactions. Using effects due to anomalous gauge couplings as an example, we show that within the allowed ranges for these couplings information about gamma obtained from B-->Kpi,pipi can be very different from the standard model prediction.
