A twofold interpenetrating two-dimensional zinc(II) coordination polymer: synthesis, crystal structure and physical properties

A novel twofold interpenetrating two-dimensional (2D) Zn^II coordination framework, poly[[(μ-1,3-bis(2-methyl-1H-imidazol-1-yl)benzene-κ²N³:N³)(μ-naphthalene-2,6-dicarboxylato-κ²O²:O⁶)zinc(II)] dimethylformamide monosolvate], {[Zn(C₁₂H₆O₄)(C₁₄H₁₄N₄)]·C₃H₇NO}_n or {[Zn(1,3-BMIB)(NDC)]·DMF}_n (I), where H₂NDC is naphthalene-2,6-dicarboxylic acid, 1,3-BMIB is 1,3-bis(2-methyl-1H-imidazol-1-yl)benzene and DMF is dimethylformamide, was prepared and characterized through IR spectroscopy, elemental analysis, thermal analysis and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis revealed that (I) exhibits an unusual twofold interpenetrating 2D network. In addition, it displays strong fluorescence emissions and a high photocatalytic activity for the degradation of Rhodamine B (RhB) under UV-light irradiation.

A novel two-dimensional (2D) Zn^II coordination framework, poly[[μ-1,3-bis(2-methyl-1H-imidazol-1-yl)benzene](μ-5-nitrobenzene-1,3-dicarboxylato)zinc(II)], [Zn(C₈H₃NO₆)(C₁₄H₁₄N₄)]_n or [Zn(NO₂-BDC)(1,3-BMIB)]_n [1,3-BMIB is 1,3-bis(2-methyl-1H-imidazol-1-yl)benzene and NO₂-H₂BDC is 5-nitrobenzene-1,3-dicarboxylic acid], has been prepared and characterized by IR, elemental analysis, thermal analysis and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis revealed that the compound is a new 2D polymer with a 6³ topology parallel to the (10-2) crystal planes based on left-handed helices, right-handed helical NO₂-BDC-Zn chains and [Zn₂(1,3-BMIB)₂]_n clusters. In the crystal, adjacent layers are further connected by C-H...O hydrogen bonds, C-H...π interactions, C-O...π interactions and N-O...π interactions to form a three-dimensional structure in the solid state. In addition, the compound exhibits strong fluorescence emissions in the solid state at room temperature.

A novel two-dimensional Cd^II coordination framework, poly[[[μ-1,3-bis(2-methyl-1H-imidazol-1-yl)benzene-κ²N:N'](μ-1,3-phenylenediacetato-κ⁴O,O':O'',O''')cadmium(II)] dihydrate], {[Cd(C₁₀H₈O₄)(C₁₄H₁₄N₄)]·2H₂O}_n or {[Cd(PDA)(1,3-BMIB)]·2H₂O}_n [1,3-BMIB is 1,3-bis(2-methyl-1H-imidazol-1-yl)benzene and H₂PDA is 1,3-phenylenediacetic acid], has been prepared and characterized using IR, elemental analysis, thermal analysis and single-crystal X-ray diffraction, the latter revealing that the compound is a (4,4) grid coordination polymer with layers oriented parallel to the bc crystal planes. In the crystal, adjacent layers are further connected by O-H...O and C-H...O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional structure in the solid state. In addition, the compound exhibits strong fluorescence emissions and shows photocatalytic activity for the degradation of methylene blue in the solid state at room temperature.

A new and highly selective turn-on fluorescent sensor with fast response time for the monitoring of cadmium ions in cosmetic, and health product samples

Cadmium (Cd) which is an extremely toxic could be found in many products like plastics, fossil fuel combustion, cosmetics, water resources, and wastewaters. It is capable of causing serious environmental and health problems such as lung, prostate, renal cancers and the other disorders. So, the development of a sensor to continually monitor cadmium is considerably demanding. Tetrakis(4-nitrophenyl)porphyrin, T(4-NO2-P)P, was synthesized and used as a new and highly selective fluorescent probe for monitoring cadmium ions in the "turn-on" mode. There was a linear relationship between fluorescence intensity and the concentration of Cd(II) in the range of 1.0×10(-6) to 1.0×10(-5)molL(-1) with a detection limit of 0.276μM. To examine the most important parameters involved and their interactions in the sensor optimization procedure, a four-factor central composite design (CCD) combined with response surface modeling (RSM) was implemented. The practical applicability of the developed sensor was investigated using real cosmetic, and personal care samples.

The crystal structure, luminescence and nitrobenzene-sensing properties of a two-dimensional Mn(II) coordination polymer based on 2,6-bis(imidazol-1-yl)pyridine

A two-dimensional Mn(II) coordination polymer (CP), poly[bis[μ2-2,6-bis(imidazol-1-yl)pyridine-κ(2)N(3):N(3')]bis(thiocyanato-κN)manganese] [Mn(NCS)2(C11H9N5)2]n, (I), has been obtained by the self-assembly reaction of Mn(ClO4)2·6H2O, NH4SCN and bent 2,6-bis(imidazol-1-yl)pyridine (2,6-bip). CP (I) was characterized by FT-IR spectroscopy, elemental analysis and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal structure features a unique two-dimensional (4,4) network with one-dimensional channels. The luminescence and nitrobenzene-sensing properties were explored in a DMF suspension, revealing that CP (I) shows a strong luminescence emission and is highly sensitive for nitrobenzene detection.
