Abstract
The "push-pull" effects associated with heme enzymes manifest themselves through highly evolved distal amino acid environments and axial ligands to the heme. These conserved residues enhance their reactivities by orders of magnitude relative to small molecules that mimic the primary coordination. An instance of a mononuclear iron porphyrin with covalently attached pendent phenanthroline groups is reported which exhibit reactivity indicating a pH dependent "push" to "pull" transition in the same molecule. The pendant phenanthroline residues provide proton transfer pathways into the iron site, ensuring selective 4e-/4H+ reduction of O2 to water. The protonation of these residues at lower pH mimics the pull effect of peroxidases, and a coordination of an axial hydroxide ligand at high pH emulates the push effect of P450 monooxygenases. Both effects enhance the rate of O2 reduction by orders of magnitude over its value at neutral pH while maintaining exclusive selectivity for 4e-/4H+ oxygen reduction reaction.

Abstract
In the title compound, [Zn(C50H36N6O5)], the ZnII cation is chelated by four pyrrole N atoms of the porphyrinate anion and coordinated by a symmetry-generated keto O atom of the diazo-ester group in a distorted square-pyramidal geometry. The mean Zn-N(pyrrole) bond length is 2.058 Å and the Zn-O(diazo-ester) bond length is 2.179 (4) Å. The zinc cation is displaced by 0.2202 (13) Å from the N4C20 mean plane of the porphyrinate anion toward the O atom; the involvement of this atom leads to a [100] polymeric chain in the crystal.

Effect of the coordination of π-acceptor 4-cyanopyridine ligand on the structural and electronic properties ofmeso-tetra(para-methoxy) andmeso-tetra(para-chlorophenyl) porphyrin cobalt(ii) coordination compounds. Abstract
To examine the influence of both the important π-acceptor character of the 4-cyanopyridine ligand and the nature of the para-substituted phenyls of meso-porphyrins on the electronic, electrochemical and structural properties of cobaltous metalloporphyrins, we prepared and fully characterized two coordination compounds: the (4-cyanopyridine)[meso-tetra(para-methoxyphenyl)porphyrinato]cobalt(ii) and the (4-cyanopyridine)[meso-tetra(para-chlorophenyl)porphyrinato]cobalt(ii) with the [CoII(TMPP)(4-CNpy)] and [CoII(TClPP)(4-CNpy)] formulas (complexes 1–2). The solution structures of compounds 1–2 were confirmed by 1H NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry methods. They were further characterized by cyclic voltammetry and photoluminescence studies. The X-ray molecular structure data show that the Co-TClPP-4-NCpy derivative (2) exhibits high ruffling deformation compared to that of the Co-TMPP-4-CNpy species (1). Notably, the crystal packing of complex 1 shows the formation of Co⋯Co supramolecular dimers with a distance of 5.663 Å. As an application of our two cobaltous compounds, an investigation involving complexes 1–2 in the degradation of the methylene blue dye in the presence and absence of H2O2 in aqueous solutions was carried out. These promising results show that 1–2 can be used as catalysts in the degradation processes of dyes. Preparation and UV/vis, IR, MS, 1H NMR, cyclic voltammetry and molecular structures of two new Co(ii) complexes with para-methoxy-phenyl and para-chloro meso-porphyrins and 4-cyanopyridine ligand (1–2). Catalytic oxidation data of MB dye using 1–2.![]()

Abstract
The title compound, [Fe(C44H24N8Cl4)(CN)2][K2(C18H36N2O6)2]·2C4H8O was synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction as well as FTIR and UV-vis spectroscopy. The central FeII ion is coordinated by four pyrrole N atoms of the porphyrin core and two C atoms of the cyano groups in a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination environment. The complex mol-ecule crystallizes with two tetra-hydro-furan solvent mol-ecules, one of which was refined as disordered over two sets of sites with refined occupancies of 0.619 (5) and 0.381 (5). It has a distorted porphyrin core with mean absolute core-atom displacements Ca, Cb, Cm and Cav of 0.32 (3), 0.22 (3), 0.56 (2) and 0.37 (14) Å, respectively. The axial Fe-Ccyano bond lengths are 1.991 (2) and 1.988 (2) Å. The average Fe-Np (Np is a porphyrin N atom) bond length is 1.964 (10) Å. One of the O atoms and several C atoms of the 222 moiety [222 = 4,7,13,16,21,24-hexa-oxa-1,10-di-aza-bicyclo-[8.8.8]hexa-cosa-ne] were refined as disordered over two sets of sites with occupancy ratios of 0.739 (6):0.261 (6) and 0.832 (4):0.168 (4). Additional solvent mol-ecules were found to be highly disordered and their contribution to the scattering was removed using the SQUEEZE procedure in PLATON [Spek (2015 ▸). Acta Cryst. C71, 9-18], which indicated a solvent cavity of volume 372 Å3 containing approximately 83 electrons. These solvent mol-ecules are not considered in the given chemical formula and other crystal data.
