Risk assessment in livestock supply chain using the MCDM method: a case of emerging economy

The purpose of the study is to identify and assess the risks related to the livestock supply chain. The major risk related to the livestock supply chain are identified through the comprehensive literature review and finalized with the help of the expert's feedback. Initially, seventeen major livestock supply chain risks are finalized, and these risks are categorized into four major dimensions. Further, analytical hierarchical process (AHP) is used to prioritize these identified major risks based on their severity. Finally, sensitivity analysis is conducted to check the robustness of the risk priorities. The result shows that "input supply risk" is the most significant risk dimension followed by "production risk," "post-harvest risk," and "marketing & price risk." The finding also suggests that "poor quality and under supply of feed and fodder," "lack of proper waste disposal," and "absence of certification for the quality of animals" are the major risks among all seventeen risks. The highest priority risks are input supply risks which require the attention of the livestock supply chain partners. The proposed research framework is used to identify and analyze the livestock supply chain risks. The findings of this research might be beneficial for the farmers and other livestock supply chain stakeholders in developing policies/plans/strategies to control the risk in their livestock supply chain.

Occupational stress among Generation-Y employees in the era of COVID-19: cases from universities in India

Purpose

Several organizations decided to work remotely after the Indian Government proclaimed a state of emergency on March 24, 2020, to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Employees across all industries, particularly the Generation-Y, were stressed as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak. The purpose of this study is to fills that gap by looking at the effects of occupational stress factors (such as coworker support, work–life balance [WLB] and role expectation conflict) on Generation-Y employees in the educational sector during COVID-19.

Design/methodology/approach

The causes and consequences of the three occupational stresses listed above were investigated. In total, 231 surveys from workers at private and public educational institutions in India were analyzed using partial least square-structural equation modeling analysis.

Findings

The results revealed that support from coworkers greatly reduced job stress, the WLB had a positive impact on the work and personal lives, and the lack of role specification in Generation-Y employees had a negative impact on their job performance.

Originality/value

This study has considered the occupational stress variables among Generation-Y in the era of COVID-19, which need attention to improve the performance of the academic sector.

Enablers of knowledge sharing for organizational sustainability: proposing a conceptual framework

Purpose

This study aims to propose a conceptual framework describing the relationship between enablers of knowledge sharing (KS) and organizational sustainability.

Design/methodology/approach

An in-depth literature review based on preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses flowchart was conducted to identify the enablers of KS. The study develops a conceptual framework by assimilating enablers of KS on three levels: individual, technical and organizational, to attain organizational sustainability.

Findings

Enablers of KS are beneficial for organizations to enable problem-solving, better and faster decision-making, stimulating creativity and innovation, improved customers’ services and leveraging employees’ talent.

Research limitations/implications

Within organizational structure, KS can be fostered by a culture that encourages employees to generate novel and creative ideas.

Originality/value

The model of KS presented in this study is applicable to organizations in more complex and uncertain contexts, e.g. the postpandemic era to retain and sustain talented employees.

A framework for assessment of critical factor for circular economy practice implementation

Purpose

Consumers, governments and regulatory agencies are concerned about the social and environmental aspect that pushes firms to move towards the circular economy. The transformation of the existing linear model into a circular model depends on several circular economy practices. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to identify and analyse the critical factors that are responsible for the adoption of circular practices.

Design/methodology/approach

In total, 15 critical factors are identified through the literature review and 12 are finalised with the grey Delphi method. Further, these critical factors are prioritised using the weighted aggregated sum/product assessment (WASPAS) method. A sensitivity analysis is also conducted to test the robustness of the ranking of critical factors obtained from WASPAS.

Findings

The finding of this study show that “top management participation,” “market for recovered products” and “circular economy oriented R&D activities promotion” are the most significant factors for circular practice adoption. These factors need to address on the highest priority by the stakeholders.

Research limitations/implications

This study is beneficial for the managers to formulate their strategies for the adoption of circular practices. The prioritisation of critical factors supports the managers and professionals to optimise their effort and resources to adopt the circular practice.

Originality/value

This study explores and analyses the critical factor for circular economy practice adoption in the supply chain in the context of emerging economies.

Determinants of Remanufacturing Adoption for Circular Economy: A Causal Relationship Evaluation Framework

Organizations are transforming their linear models into circular models in order to become more sustainable. Remanufacturing is an essential element of the circular model; thus, there is an urgent need to adopt remanufacturing. It can offer organizations economic and environmental advantages and facilitate the transition to a circular economy (CE). Several aspects are crucial to the use of remanufacturing methods in order to transition to the CE. Therefore, in this study, we aimed to develop a framework for investigating the causal relationship among determinants of adopting remanufacturing processes for the circular economy. Through an integrated approach comprising a literature review and the Modified Delphi Method, we identified ten remanufacturing adoption determinants. The causal relationship among these determinants was established using the DEMATEL method. Furthermore, we classified these determinants into cause and effect groups. Five determinants, “consumer preferences”, “remanufacturing adoption framework”, “market opportunities”, “management commitment”, and “preferential tax policies”, belong to the cause group, and the remaining five belong to the effect group based on the effect score. To implement remanufacturing processes and transition to a circular economy, it is necessary to pay greater attention to these identified determinants, especially those that belong to the cause group. The outcomes of this study may aid management and policy makers in formulating strategies for effectively implementing remanufacturing methods within their organizations.
