High-Speed Vision and its Applications Toward High-Speed Intelligent Systems

Currently, high-speed vision based on parallel processing exists, and its various applications as high-speed intelligent systems have been proposed and implemented. The basic goal of high-speed vision is to realize vision capabilities and systems that operate at speeds necessary for intelligent systems, in which intelligence operating at the speed inherently required by the application system is achieved. This paper described the vision chip and parallel image processing architectures, presented outlines of system architectures, image-processing algorithms, and related peripheral technologies; described the concepts required to configure high-speed intelligent systems, such as hierarchical parallel distributed architecture, parallel decomposition, orthogonal decomposition, dynamics matching, latency minimization, high-speed 3D shape measurement, active vision, tracking vision, dynamic compensation, and dynamic projection mapping; and discussed a wide range of application systems in a systematic manner.

A Review on Microscopic Visual Servoing for Micromanipulation Systems: Applications in Micromanufacturing, Biological Injection, and Nanosensor Assembly

Micromanipulation is an interdisciplinary technology that integrates advanced knowledge of microscale/nanoscale science, mechanical engineering, electronic engineering, and control engineering. Over the past two decades, it has been widely applied in the fields of MEMS (microelectromechanical systems), bioengineering, and microdevice integration and manufacturing. Microvision servoing is the basic tool for enabling the automatic and precise micromanipulation of microscale/nanoscale entities. However, there are still many problems surrounding microvision servoing in theory and the application of this technology's micromanipulation processes. This paper summarizes the research, development status, and practical applications of critical components of microvision servoing for micromanipulation, including geometric calibration, autofocus techniques, depth information, and visual servoing control. Suggestions for guiding future innovation and development in this field are also provided in this review.

High-Speed Vision and its Application Systems

<div class=""abs_img""><img src=""[disp_template_path]/JRM/abst-image/00260003/02.jpg"" width=""300"" />Batting/throwing robots </span></div> This paper introduces high-speed vision the authors developed, together with its applications. Architecture and development examples of high-speed vision are shown first in the sections that follow, then target tracking using active vision is explained. High-speed vision applied to robot control, design guidelines, and the development system for a high-speed robot are then introduced as examples. High-speed robot tasks, including dynamic manipulation and handling of soft objects, are explained and then book flipping scanning – an image analysis application – is explained followed by 1 ms auto pan/tilt and micro visual feedback, which are optical applications. </span>
