Event-triggered prescribed-time control for a class of uncertain nonlinear systems using finite time-varying gain

This paper addresses the event-triggered prescribed-time control problem for a class of high-order nonlinear systems based on finite time-varying gain. Due to the existence of unknown gain functions and system uncertainties, the resultant control with prescribed-time convergence performance becomes nontrivial. The problem becomes even more complex due to the use of event-based communication instead of continuous communication. To tackle the aforementioned challenges, this paper proposes an event-triggered prescribed-time stabilization approach with the following key steps. Firstly, we establish a new prescribed-time stability lemma to overcome the technical difficulty arising from the prescribed-time controller design, and stability analysis. Secondly, we give the controller design procedure upon using the backstepping technique. Thirdly, we redesign the event-triggering threshold condition based on time-varying functions, which allows the controller terminal jitter to be mitigated and the controller to be implemented straightforwardly in practice. Furthermore, the proposed control scheme avoids Zeno behavior. The numerical simulation confirms the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.

A leader-following consensus of multi-agent systems with actuator saturation and semi-Markov switching topologies

The leader-following consensus (LFC) issue is investigated in this paper for multi-agent systems (MASs) subject to actuator saturation with semi-Markov switching topologies (SMST). A new consensus protocol is proposed by using a semi-Markov process to model the switching of network topologies. Compared to the traditional Markov switching topologies, the SMST is more general and practical because the transition rates are time-varying. By using the local sector conditions and a suitable Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional, some sufficient conditions are proposed such that the leaderfollowing mean-square consensus is locally achieved. Based on the derived sufficient conditions, an optimization problem is analyzed to determine the consensus feedback gains and to find a maximal estimate of the domain of consensus attraction (DOCA) of a closed-loop model. At the end, a numerical case is presented to verify the performance of the design method.

Hierarchical prescribed-time bipartite consensus for multiple Euler-Lagrange systems with input-to-output redundancy and directed matrix-weighted signed graph

This paper studies the prescribed-time bipartite consensus problem for multiple Euler-Lagrange systems (MELSs) under directed matrix-weighted signed graph, in which input-to-output redundancy, external disturbances and uncertain dynamic terms have been taken into consideration. Firstly, this paper proposes the prescribed-time hierarchical control (PTHC) algorithm to tackle the aforesaid issue. It is worth pointing out that the convergence time can be arbitrarily prescribed based on actual engineering needs. Then, the corresponding sufficient conditions for achieving the prescribed-time bipartite consensus are obtained by invoking Lyapunov stability analysis. Eventually, the numerical simulation results are performed, which vividly reflect the effectiveness and feasibility of the developed control algorithm.

Prescribed-Time Tracking With Guaranteed Performance for a Class of Self-Switching Systems Under Unknown Control Directions

This article investigates the problem of prescribed-time tracking control for a class of self-switching systems subject to nonvanishing/nonparametric uncertainties and unknown control directions. Due to the existence of the unknown inherent nonlinear dynamics and the undetectable actuation faults, the resultant control gain of the system becomes unknown and time varying, making the control impact on the system uncertain and the prescribed-time control synthesis nontrivial. The underlying problem becomes further complex as the switching is arbitrary and unknown. To circumvent the aforementioned difficulties, the following major steps are employed. First, by integrating a novel time-varying feedback gain and performance function into the control synthesis, the nonvanishing uncertainties are completely rejected and the transient performance is guaranteed. Second, to facilitate the stability analysis under arbitrarily switching, the concept of the constraining function is introduced and incorporated into a skillfully chosen common Lyapunov function. Third, to deal with the uncertain control gain, a new Nussbaum-related lemma is derived. The proposed control is shown to be capable of ensuring that the tracking error not only evolves within the prescribed bound during all the operation time but also converges to zero at the rate of convergence that can be preassigned as fast as desired, in the presence of self-switching dynamics and unknown control directions. Both theoretical analysis and numerical simulation confirm the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Prescribed performance adaptive event-triggered consensus control for multiagent systems with input saturation

In this paper, a prescribed performance adaptive event-triggered consensus control method is developed for a class of multiagent systems with the consideration of input dead zone and saturation. In practical engineering applications, systems are inevitably suffered from input saturation. In addition, input dead zone is widely existing. As the larger signal is limited and the smaller signal is difficult to effectively operate, system efficacious input encounters unknown magnitude limitations, which seriously impact system control performance and even lead to system instability. Furthermore, when constrained multiagent systems are required to converge quickly, the followers would achieve it with drastic and quick variation of states, which may violate the constraints and even cause security problems. To address those problems, an adaptive event-triggered consensus control is proposed. By constructing the transform function and the barrier Lyapunov function, while state constrained is guaranteed, multiagent systems quickly converge with prescribed performance. Finally, some examples are adopted to confirm the effectiveness of the proposed control method.
