Synchronization Control of Neural Networks With State-Dependent Coefficient Matrices

Adaptive event-triggered synchronization of neural networks under stochastic cyber-attacks with application to Chua's circuit

This paper focuses on the synchronization control problem for neural networks (NNs) subject to stochastic cyber-attacks. Firstly, an adaptive event-triggered scheme (AETS) is adopted to improve the utilization rate of network resources, and an output feedback controller is constructed for improving the performance of the system subject to the conventional deception attack and accumulated dynamic cyber-attack. Secondly, the synchronization problem of master-slave NNs is transformed into the stability analysis problem of the synchronization error system. Thirdly, by constructing a customized Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional (LKF), the adaptive event-triggered output feedback controller is designed to ensure the synchronization error system is asymptotically stable with a given H∞ performance index. Lastly, in the simulation part, two examples, including Chua's circuit, illustrate the feasibility and universality of the related technologies in this paper.

Guaranteed Cost Finite-Time Control of Uncertain Coupled Neural Networks

This article investigates a robust guaranteed cost finite-time control for coupled neural networks with parametric uncertainties. The parameter uncertainties are assumed to be time-varying norm bounded, which appears on the system state and input matrices. The robust guaranteed cost control laws presented in this article include both continuous feedback controllers and intermittent feedback controllers, which were rarely found in the literature. The proposed guaranteed cost finite-time control is designed in terms of a set of linear-matrix inequalities (LMIs) to steer the coupled neural networks to achieve finite-time synchronization with an upper bound of a guaranteed cost function. Furthermore, open-loop optimization problems are formulated to minimize the upper bound of the quadratic cost function and convergence time, it can obtain the optimal guaranteed cost periodically intermittent and continuous feedback control parameters. Finally, the proposed guaranteed cost periodically intermittent and continuous feedback control schemes are verified by simulations.

Synchronization of Nonlinearly and Stochastically Coupled Markovian Switching Networks via Event-Triggered Sampling

This paper studies the exponential synchronization problem for a new array of nonlinearly and stochastically coupled networks via events-triggered sampling (ETS) by self-adaptive learning. The networks include the following features: 1) a Bernoulli stochastic variable is introduced to describe the random structural coupling; 2) a stochastic variable with positive mean is used to model the coupling strength; and 3) a continuous time homogeneous Markov chain is employed to characterize the dynamical switching of the coupling structure and pinned node sets. The proposed network model is capable to capture various stochastic effect of an external environment during the network operations. In order to reduce networks' workload, different ETS strategies for network self-adaptive learning are proposed under continuous and discrete monitoring, respectively. Based on these ETS approaches, several sufficient conditions for synchronization are derived by employing stochastic Lyapunov-Krasovskii functions, the properties of stochastic processes, and some linear matrix inequalities. Numerical simulations are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the theoretical results and the superiority of the proposed ETS approach.

Control-oriented modeling and adaptive backstepping control for a nonminimum phase hypersonic vehicle

In this paper, the nonminimum phase problem of a flexible hypersonic vehicle is investigated. The main challenge of nonminimum phase is the prevention of dynamic inversion methods to nonlinear control design. To solve this problem, we make research on the relationship between nonminimum phase and backstepping control, finding that a stable nonlinear controller can be obtained by changing the control loop on the basis of backstepping control. By extending the control loop to cover the internal dynamics in it, the internal states are directly controlled by the inputs and simultaneously serve as virtual control for the external states, making it possible to guarantee output tracking as well as internal stability. Then, based on the extended control loop, a simplified control-oriented model is developed to enable the applicability of adaptive backstepping method. It simplifies the design process and releases some limitations caused by direct use of the no simplified control-oriented model. Next, under proper assumptions, asymptotic stability is proved for constant commands, while bounded stability is proved for varying commands. The proposed method is compared with approximate backstepping control and dynamic surface control and is shown to have superior tracking accuracy as well as robustness from the simulation results. This paper may also provide a beneficial guidance for control design of other complex systems.

Further results on delay-dependent stability for continuous system with two additive time-varying delay components

This paper deals with the problem of stability for continuous system with two additive time-varying delay components. By making full use of the information of the marginally delayed state, a novel Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional is constructed. When estimating the derivative of the Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional, we manage to get a fairly tighter upper bound by using the method of reciprocal convex and convex polyhedron. The obtained delay-dependent stability results are less conservative than some existing ones via numerical example comparisons. In addition, this criterion is expressed as a set of linear matrix inequalities, which can be readily tested by using the Matlab LMI toolbox. Finally, four examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
