Abstract
The reproduction of Iheringichthys labrosus (Lütken, 1874) from the Turvo River, Brazil, was studied using anatomical, biometric, histological, and ultrastructural techniques. Between April 2014 and March 2015, a total of 278 males and 512 females were captured bimonthly. The testes of Iheringichthys labrosus are fringed and possess a cranial spermatogenic region and an exclusively secretory caudal region. Histologically, the cranial region is composed of seminiferous tubules with spermatogenesis being completed in cysts. The spermatozoa are of the primitive type with a spherical head and have a rudimentary intermediate piece and a long tail with an axonemic arrangement of 9 + 2. The caudal region does not form an individualized gland, and cells in this testis area have characteristics of protein secretion. A variable density electron-dense secretion accumulates in the cisternae of the rough endoplasmic reticulum in the lumen of the seminiferous tubules and in the testicular ducts during maturation. The cortical alveoli are discontinuous, and the zona pellucida consists of three layers crossed by pore canals, and the follicular cells are squamous in the early stages of oogenesis and cuboidal in advanced stages. The gonadosomatic index was associated with the maturation of the gonads while the condition factor indicated that the fish feed less and utilize adipose reserves during the reproductive period. Males and females reproductively functional throughout the year with spawning being partial or multiple, similar to that reported in studies of the species in lentic environments.

Abstract
Herein we determine for the first time the reproduction parameters and population structure of Hypostomus francisci in the Itapecerica River, São Francisco Basin. A total of 250 specimens was captured quarterly between March 2010 and February 2012. Body weight, total length and weight of the gonads were obtained in the laboratory. Gonad samples were submitted to histological and histochemical techniques. Females with spawning capable ovaries were used to determine the fecundity and relative fecundity. Sex ratio with 1:1.01 (female:male) was observed. Males were more numerous than females for individuals smaller than 170 mm, however the number of females was significantly greater for specimens larger than 330 mm. The length-weight relationship estimated for H. francisci indicates negative-allometric growth. Females spawning capable were observed mostly in November-December-January. Two cohorts of oocytes at a determined time evidencing the development type group-synchronic. The eggs reaching 3.4 mm and the fecundity ranged from 312-1,460 oocytes with an average of 585.81 ± 337.43 oocytes per female. The reproductive parameters and population structure of H. francisci from Itapecerica River suggested that this species showed singular reproductive tactics among congeners.

Abstract
In the present study we histochemically and lectinhistochemically characterized the growing oocytes of the pink cuskeel (Genypterus blacodes). We used histochemical methods for the localization and characterization of glycoconjugates (GCs) and lectin histochemical techniques for the identification of specific sugar residues. We analyzed presence and distribution of GCs in the different structures of the growing follicles (cortical alveoli, globules, yolk granules and zona radiata). During the initial stage of vitellogenesis, the oocytes presented small yolk granules composed of GCs that gradually increased during exogenous vitellogenesis. These GCs contained moderate quantities of α-D-mannose, D-glucose, N-acetylglucosamine and N-acetyl-neuraminic acid. The cortical alveoli contained both neutral and carboxylated GCs, and lectin techniques detected N-acetylgalactosamine, galactose and L-fucose. The zona radiata showed a strong positive reaction to PAS and it reacted weakly with more specific techniques, such as KOH/PA*S and PA/Bh/KOH/PAS. This structure showed GCs with oxidizable vicinal diols, O-acyl sugars and sialic acid residues with different substitution types and presented N-acetylgalactosamine and L-fucose specific residues. The oocytes follicular envelope evidenced neutral and acidic non-sulfated GCs and high concentrations of α-D-mannose, D-glucose, galactose and N-acetylgalactosamine. The intergranular cytoplasmic GCs were mainly rich in α-D-mannose, D-glucose, N-acetylgalactosamine, N-acetylglucosamine and N-acetyl-neuraminic acid. These results enhance the comprehension of the structure and functionality of the pink cuskeel ovarian follicles, and provide a useful tool for the study of this tissue in other teleost species.

Abstract
The testicular morphology, spermatogenesis and occurrence of sperm in the ovarian lumen of Trachelyopterus striatulus were studied using anatomical, histological and biometric techniques. A total of 50 catfish (T. striatulus) were captured, measuring 14.9 ± 2.5 cm of standard length, body weight was 81.2 ± 34.5 g and their testes weighed 16.9 ± 6.1 g. The testes of T. striatulus are paired organs, showing two distinct regions: cranial, which shows a compact medial part and with fringes ventrally, and caudal region, which is formed of the seminal vesicle with fringes laterally and two saculiform expansions. The testes presented a length of 35.2 ± 6.9 mm, and the fringes showed a cranial length of 12.1 ± 3.8 mm and caudal length of 6.4 ± 2.6 mm. Histologically, the cranial fringes are spermatogenic and showed cells with significantly different nuclear diameters, ranging from 8.2 ± 1.5 μm (primary spermatogonia) to 1.88 ± 0.3 μm (spermatid). The seminal vesicles and saculiform expansions showed tubules with a simple prismatic secretory epithelium containing spermatozoa and secretion into the lumen. The caudal fringes are exclusively for secretory flow, consisting of tubules with a simple cuboidal epithelium. The common spermatic duct showed a simple cuboidal epithelium and contained spermatozoa with secretion into the lumen. The secretion of the caudal region is acidophilic, with neutral glycoproteins and sialomucin. T. striatulus ovaries showed free spermatozoa or were organized in spermatozeugmata into the ovarian lumen and between the ovuligers lamellae.
