Abstract
The objective of this systematic review was to evaluate the effectiveness of photobiomodulation therapy (PBM) in managing avulsed teeth. This systematic review was conducted using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses (i.e., "PRISMA") statement 2020 and was registered in the International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews (i.e., PROSPERO) with number CRD42022362198. The participants, intervention, comparison, outcomes, and study design (i.e., PICOS) for the present study considered the following question: "Does the use of laser PBM in the treatment of teeth with avulsion influence tissue repair performance?" A literature search was performed in PubMed/MEDLINE, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, and ProQuest databases until January 2023. The SYRCLE's RoB tool (Systematic Review Center for Laboratory Animal Experimentation) for animal studies were used for quality assessment. A total of 7 in vivo studies published between 2011 and 2018 were included in this systematic review for qualitative analysis. All studies used Wistar rats, totaling 368 specimens that simulated tooth avulsion trauma. The effect of photodynamic therapy in the treatment of avulsed teeth was positive in 5 studies (significant increase in tissue repair) and negative in 2 studies, in which both studies with negative results kept teeth in saline solution before reimplantation and showed the longest time and power of laser application. PBM appears to be effective for tissue repair in the treatment of avulsed teeth, depending on the means of conservation of the avulsed tooth and the laser application protocol.

Abstract
This systematic review evaluated preclinical studies to assess whether PBM has a more favorable histological response than other treatments used before delayed replantation of avulsed teeth. This review followed the PRISMA checklist and was registered in PROSPERO. MEDLINE (PubMed), Embase, Scopus and Web of Science were searched from their inception to July 14, 2022. Data were independently extracted by two reviewers. Data were collected about species, number of animals, number and type of teeth, groups evaluated, extra-alveolar time, parameters for PBM and other study groups, presence and characteristics of containment, observation time points, evaluation methods, characteristics evaluated, and significant results. The ARRIVE and SYRCLE tools were used to assess the methodological quality and risk of bias (RoB) of the studies. After screening, six studies were included in the review synthesis. Three of the four studies that evaluated root resorption as an outcome found that PBM decreases its occurrence after delayed tooth replantation. A meta-analysis was not conducted because some data were missing in the included studies. Half of the studies evaluating ankylosis found an increase in its occurrence after PBM. Two studies evaluated inflammatory responses and found a reduction of inflammation after PBM. In general, studies had high methodological heterogeneity, intermediate reporting quality and high RoB. Despite the methodological quality and RoB limitations of the studies, the histological responses after delayed tooth replantation were more favourable in the PBM groups. Preclinical studies supported by guidelines should define laser parameters for future clinical studies.

Abstract
This review aimed to answer the following question "Does photobiomodulation treatment of the root surface decrease the occurrence of root resorption in reimplanted teeth?" Electronic searches were performed in the MEDLINE/PubMed, Cochrane Library, Scopus, Web of Science, Embase, and Grey Literature Report databases. Risk of bias was evaluated using SYRCLE Risk of Bias tool. The Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluations (GRADE) tool was used to assess the certainty of evidence. In total, 6 studies were included. Five studies reported a reduced occurrence of root resorption in teeth that received photobiomodulation treatment of the root surface prior to replantation. Only 1 study reported contradictory results. The photobiomodulation parameters varied widely among studies. GRADE assessment showed a low certainty of evidence. It can be inferred that photobiomodulation treatment of the root surface prior to replantation of teeth can reduce the occurrence of root resorption. Nonetheless, further clinical studies are needed. Abstract
Background and Objectives: There is still considerable controversy regarding the possibility of submitting replanted teeth to orthodontic movement (OM). The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the tissue response after orthodontic movement on replanted teeth. Materials and Methods: Sixty Wistar rats were randomly assigned to four groups (n = 15): G1, replantation without OM after 30 days; G2, replantation with OM after 30 days; G3, replantation without OM after 60 days, and G4, replantation with OM after 60 days. The maxillary left central incisors were extracted and the teeth were stored in milk media. After 30 min, the teeth were replanted and fixed with non-rigid immobilization. All specimens were observed after 30 and 60 days of replantation and then subdivided into two subgroups (with OM or without OM). The animals were euthanized after seven days of the OM started, and the maxillary bone blocks were processed for histological evaluation. Results: The histological results showed periodontal ligament repair in both periods studied without OM; however, ankylosis and root resorption was seen in all orthodontically moved teeth. Conclusions: The orthodontic movement did not favor tissue response in all replanted teeth, regardless of the experimental periods.

Abstract
BACKGROUND/AIM An adequate storage medium can help preserve the viability of periodontal ligament cells, favoring the periodontal ligament repair process. The aim of this study was to evaluate the repair process following the delayed replantation of teeth stored in soy milk and whole milk. MATERIAL AND METHODS The maxillary right incisors of 27 rats were divided into three equally sized groups: Group SM (delayed replantation with storage in soy milk), whose teeth were immersed in 50 mL of soy milk for 60 minutes; Group WM (delayed replantation with whole milk), teeth were kept for 60 minutes in 50 mL of whole milk; and Group D (delayed replantation with dry storage), teeth were kept in dry conditions for the same period (negative control). Next, the teeth of the animals of all groups were replanted into their sockets. Systemic antibiotics were given to all the animals, and then, they were euthanized after 60 days. Sections were obtained and stained with hematoxylin and eosin for histomorphometric study. The presence and location of acute and chronic inflammatory processes in the epithelial insertion of the protective and insertion periodontium were evaluated, as well as the presence, extension, depth, and repair of root resorption, and the resorption and ankylosis with bone. Statistical differences between groups were analyzed using the Dunn test. RESULTS Groups SM and WM showed similar patterns in the repair of the periodontal ligament following delayed replantation, in relation to the inflammatory process in the proximities of the epithelial insertion, inflammation and organization of the periodontal ligament, plus root and bone resorption. However, in group WM, more ankylosis was observed than in group SM. CONCLUSION The teeth stored in soy milk and whole milk had similar periodontal repair, which shows the potential of soy milk as a storage medium before tooth replantation.

Abstract
Objectives Over the last few years, several studies have investigated the effect of laser treatment on the replantation of avulsed teeth. We conducted this study to systematically analyse and assess the outcomes and quality of these studies. Methods Using the keywords ‘laser’, ‘tooth’, and ‘replantation’, two investigators conducted an electronic search of the PubMed, MEDLINE, Embase, ISI Web of Knowledge and Google Scholar databases. Any studies not meeting the inclusion criteria were excluded. The focused question was ‘Does laser treatment influence the outcomes of tooth replantation?’ Results Nine studies were included and assessed in this review. In the majority of the selected studies, laser treatment had a positive outcome on preventing root resorption and in promoting periodontal regeneration. However, only three studies were given a quality score of ‘medium’, while six were marked as ‘low’. Conclusion Laser irradiation may reduce root resorption and favour periodontal regeneration following replantation of the avulsed tooth. However, more well-designed long-term animal and human studies are needed before lasers can be used clinically to improve the outcomes for replanted teeth.

Abstract
BACKGROUND/AIM In addition to their anti-inflammatory and anti-osteoclastogenesis properties, adrenergic blockers may also have promising anti-resorptive effects that can prevent root resorption when teeth are replanted because of avulsion. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of phentolamine (Ph) and propranolol (Pr) in gels on the repair process of late replanted rat incisors. A further aim was to evaluate the biocompatibility of both drugs to human periodontal ligament fibroblasts (HPDLFs). MATERIALS AND METHODS Forty-eight maxillary right incisors were extracted from male Wistar rats, stored in paper napkins for 60 minutes, and randomly allocated to one of eight groups (n = 6). The root canal, root surface, and alveolus were treated with 0.75 µg/mL Ph gel (Ph0.75), 10 µg/mL Ph gel (Ph10), 100 µg/mL Ph gel (Ph100), 2.5 µg/mL Pr gel (Pr2.5), 10 µg/mL Pr gel (Pr10), 100 µg/mL Pr gel (Pr100), or sodium carboxymethylcellulose gel (CMC) before replantation. In the control group (CH), only the root canal was treated with calcium hydroxide paste. Thirty days following surgery, the animals were euthanized, and the right hemimaxilla was removed to perform micro-CT and histomorphometric analysis to determine osteoclastic activity. Ethanolic solutions of Ph10 and Pr10 were selected based on the in vivo study, and the viability of HPDLFs stimulated with lipopolysaccharide was determined by MTT assays. RESULTS The micro-CT and histomorphometric analysis revealed no significant differences among the treatments (P > .05). The presence of active osteoclasts was significantly decreased in the Ph10 and Pr10 groups (P < .05). Ph10 and Pr10 produced statistically similar cell survival rates compared to the control group (P > .05). CONCLUSIONS Ph10 and Pr10 significantly decreased osteoclastogenesis in delayed replanted rat teeth and were not cytotoxic toward HPDLFs.

Abstract
Background Laser phototherapy (LPT) has been suggested as a new therapeutic tool to improve the repair of replanted teeth. However, its effects and mechanism of action are not yet completely understood. Objectives This study evaluated histologically the effect of laser phototherapy (LPT) λ808 and λ660 nm on angiogenesis in the periodontal tissue of replanted teeth in rats. Material and Methods Twenty maxillary right incisors were extracted from twenty Wistar rats and randomly assigned to four groups (n = 5): PN - teeth were stored in paper napkin for 45 min; WM - teeth were immersed in 20 ml of UHT whole cow milk for 45 min; PNL and WML - teeth received the same treatment described for PN and WM, respectively, plus LPT at λ808 and λ660 nm. All root canals were prepared and filled with calcium hydroxide paste. The animals were euthanized 15 days after tooth replantation and angiogenesis was scored by blood vessel counting in the area of periodontal ligament and alveolar bone, using the ImageJ software. Data were analyzed statistically by ANOVA and Tukey's test (α = 5%). Results LPT at λ808 and λ660 nm caused significant increased angiogenesis on irradiated groups (PNL and WML) when compared to the non-irradiated groups (PN and WM) (p<0.05). There was no statistically significant difference between PN and WM as well as between PNL and WML (p>0.05). Conclusions LPT is capable of stimulating angiogenesis in vivo in the periodontal tissue of replanted teeth. Key words:Angiogenesis, lasers, tooth avulsion, tooth replantation, wound healing.
