Abstract
BACKGROUND While many studies have examined relationships of neuroimaging variables to cognitive measures in multiple sclerosis (MS), longitudinal studies are lacking. The relationship of cognitive changes to neuroradiological changes in MS is thus incompletely understood. The present study systematically reviews all studies reporting a relationship between MRI changes and cognitive changes after at least one year of follow-up. METHOD An extensive and methodical search of online databases was conducted to identify qualified studies until August 2023. Among various cognitive tests and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) measures, Symbol Digit Modalities Test (SDMT), Paced Auditory Serial Addition Test (PASAT), verbal fluency, T2 lesion volume (T2LV), white matter lesion volume (WML), and grey matter volume (GMV) qualified for inclusion in a meta-analysis investigating the association of cognitive changes to neuroradiological changes. RESULTS We identified 35 studies that explored the link between MRI changes and changes in cognitive outcomes. Of these, twenty studies (57.14%) investigated the association between SDMT/PASAT and MRI metrics. Eleven studies (31.42%) focused on the relationship between MRI metrics and verbal learning and memory, while ten studies (28.57%) reported associations with visuospatial learning and memory. Furthermore, eight studies (22.85%) analyzed the correlation between verbal fluency and MRI measures. Only 5 were eligible for inclusion in the meta-analysis. The meta-analysis evaluated correlations between SDMT/PASAT and GMV (rs = 0.67, 95% CI 0.44-0.91), and verbal fluency and T2LV (rs = 0.35, 95% CI 0.09-0.60). CONCLUSION In this rigorously conducted systematic review, we found a significant association of cognitive changes, specifically SDMT/PASAT and verbal fluency, to changes in T2LV and atrophy in individuals with MS. Findings should be interpreted cautiously due to the limited amount of high-quality research, small sample sizes, and variability in study methodologies.

Abstract
The Nine-Hole Peg Test (NHPT) is considered a "gold standard" for the measurement of manual dexterity. The aim of this study was the translation and culturally adapting the original version of the NHPT. MATERIALS AND METHODS The adaptation was carried out following the standardized translation-retrotranslation guidelines and procedures referred to in the literature and in the International Test Commission (CIT). The final Spanish version of the NHPT (NHPT-E) was administered to 40 healthy adults. We evaluated its feasibility by means of a questionnaire elaborated according to Iraossi's checklist proposal for the pilot test process. RESULTS Modifications of expression in the grammatical mode of the verbs were performed, as well as the adaptation of some terms used in the three sections of the original version of the test (General Information, Installation, and Application Instructions). In the pilot study, for 95% of the participants, the NHPT-E is a comfortable test to take, and, for 100% of the evaluators, the test includes all the necessary information, with clear instructions and interpretation of the results. CONCLUSIONS The cross-cultural adaptation and pilot study enabled the development of a suitable and viable version of the NHPT-E for use in the Spanish population.

Abstract
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic inflammatory disease of the central nervous system. A better understanding of the mechanisms supporting brain plasticity in MS would help to develop targeted interventions to promote recovery. A total of 29 MS patients and 19 healthy volunteers underwent clinical assessment and multi-modal MRI acquisition [fMRI during serial reaction time task (SRT), DWI, T1w structural scans and ASL of resting perfusion] at baseline and after 4-weeks of SRT training. Reduction of functional hyperactivation was observed in MS patients following the training, shown by the stronger reduction of the BOLD response during task execution compared to healthy volunteers. The functional reorganization was accompanied by a positive correlation between improvements in task accuracy and the change in resting perfusion after 4 weeks' training in right angular and supramarginal gyri in MS patients. No longitudinal changes in WM and GM measures and no correlation between task performance improvements and brain structure were observed in MS patients. Our results highlight a potential role for CBF as an early marker of plasticity, in terms of functional (cortical reorganization) and behavioral (performance improvement) changes in MS patients that may help to guide future interventions that exploit preserved plasticity mechanisms.

Abstract
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic inflammatory disease of the central nervous system that is rare in China. At present, there are no widespread quantitative imaging markers associated with disease severity in MS. Despite several previous studies reporting cerebral blood flow (CBF) changes in MS, no consensus has been reached. In this study, we enrolled 30 Eastern MS patients to investigate CBF changes in different brain regions using the arterial spin labeling technique and their relationship with disease severity. The average CBF in MS patients were higher than those in health controls in various brain regions except cerebellum. The results indicated that MS patients with strongly increased CBF showed worse disease severity, including higher Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS) scores and serum neurofilament light chain (sNfL) values than those with mildly increased CBF in the parietal lobes, temporal lobes, basal ganglia, and damaged white matter (DWM). From another perspective, MS patients with worse disease severity (higher EDSS score and sNfL values, longer disease duration) showed increased CBF in parietal lobes, temporal lobes, basal ganglia, normal-appearing white matter (NAWM), and DWM. Correlation analysis showed that there was a strong association among CBF, EDSS score and sNfL. MS patients with strongly increased CBF in various brain regions had more ratio in relapsing phase than patients with mildly increased CBF. And relapsing patients showed significantly higher CBF in some regions (temporal lobes, left basal ganglia, right NAWM) compared to remitting patients. In addition, MS patients with cognitive impairment had higher CBF than those without cognitive impairment in the right parietal lobe and NAWM. However, there were no significant differences in CBF between MS patients with and without other neurologic dysfunctions (e.g., motor impairment, visual disturbance, sensory dysfunction). These findings expand our understanding of CBF in MS and imply that CBF could be a potential quantitative imaging marker associated with disease severity.

Abstract
Manual dexterity is essential for performing daily life tasks, becoming a primary means of interaction with the physical, social, and cultural environment. In this respect, the Nine Hole Peg Test (NHPT) is considered a gold standard for assessing manual dexterity. Bibliometrics is a discipline that focuses on analyzing publications to describe, evaluate, and predict the status and development trends in certain fields of scientific research. We performed a bibliometric analysis to track research results and identify global trends regarding the use of the NHPT. The bibliographic data were retrieved from the Web of Science database and then analyzed using the Bibliometrix R package, resulting in the retrieval of a total of 615 publications from 1988 to 2021. Among the 263 journals investigated, the most prolific were the Multiple Sclerosis Journal, Clinical Rehabilitation, and Multiple Sclerosis and Related Disorders. North America and Europe were the areas with the highest production of publications, with the United States (n = 104) ranking first in terms of the number of publications, followed by the United Kingdom (n = 62) and Italy (n = 62). The analysis of keywords revealed that there were two main lines of research, with one related to the study of recovery and disability of the upper limbs caused by certain diseases and another related to the study of reliability and validity. Structured information can be useful to understand the research trajectory and the uses of this tool.
