Abstract
BACKGROUND Fluid overload causes excessive systemic vasoconstriction and decreased perfusion of peripheral tissues, leading to abnormalities in cardiopulmonary physiological functions. Prolonged fluid overload caused by inadequate hemodialysis may cause heart dilatation, left ventricular hypertrophy, hypertension, and a decrease in coronary reserves, which later will develop into coronary ischemia, leading to increased morbidity and mortality of cardiovascular disease (CVD). Endothelial dysfunction plays a role in excessive vasoconstriction on fluid overload. Brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) and asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA) are used as parameters of fluid overload and endothelial dysfunction, respectively. This study is conducted to describe the relationship between fluid overload with endothelial dysfunction. METHOD This study is a cross-sectional study of kidney failure patients who underwent hemodialysis twice weekly for at least three months. BNP and ADMA were used as parameters for fluid overload and taken prior to hemodialysis. RESULT From 126 subjects, the proportion with fluid overload (BNP>356 pg/ml) was found to be 64.3% with the median age of subjects being 52 years (47-62). There was 47.6% population with endothelial dysfunction (ADMA>100 ng/ml). Presumptive causes of primary chronic kidney disease (CKD) were hypertension (38.9%), diabetes mellitus (DM) (28.6%), and glomerulonephritis (21.4%). There was no significant association between fluid overload and endothelial dysfunction (PR=1,042, p=0.832 CI 95%=0.714-1.521). CONCLUSION There was no relationship between fluid overload and endothelial dysfunction.

Abstract
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a major cause of mortality and morbidity in peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients. Two decades ago, the common co-existence of malnutrition and systemic inflammation PD patients with atherosclerosis and CVD led to the proposed terminology of 'malnutrition-inflammation-atherosclerosis (MIA) syndrome'. Although the importance of malnutrition is well accepted, frailty represents a more comprehensive assessment of the physical and functional capability of the patient and encompasses the contributions of sarcopenia (a key component of malnutrition), obesity, cardiopulmonary as well as neuropsychiatric impairment. In recent years, it is also increasingly recognized that fluid overload is not only the consequence but also play an important role in the pathogenesis of CVD. Moreover, fluid overload is closely linked with the systemic inflammatory status, presumably by gut oedema, gastrointestinal epithelial barrier dysfunction and leakage of bacterial fragments to the systemic circulation. There are now a wealth of published evidence to show intricate relations between frailty, inflammation, fluid overload and atherosclerotic disease in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and those on PD, a phenomenon that we propose the term 'FIFA complex'. In this system, frailty and atherosclerotic disease may be regarded as two patient-oriented outcomes, while inflammation and fluid overload are two inter-connected pathogenic processes. However, there remain limited data on how the treatment of one component affect the others. It is also important to define how treatment of fluid overload affect the systemic inflammatory status and to develop effective anti-inflammatory strategies that could alleviate atherosclerotic disease and frailty.

Association between Intra- and Extra-Cellular Water Ratio Imbalance and Natriuretic Peptides in Patients Undergoing Hemodialysis. Nutrients 2023; 15:nu15051274. Abstract
Natriuretic peptides are associated with malnutrition and volume overload. Over-hydration cannot simply be explained by excess extracellular water in patients undergoing hemodialysis. We assessed the relationship between the extracellular and intracellular water (ECW/ICW) ratio, N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP), human atrial natriuretic peptide (hANP), and echocardiographic findings. Body composition was examined by segmental multi-frequency bioelectrical impedance analysis in 368 patients undergoing maintenance dialysis (261 men and 107 women; mean age, 65 ± 12 years). Patients with higher ECW/ICW ratio quartiles tended to be older, were on dialysis longer, and had higher post-dialysis blood pressure and lower body mass index, ultrafiltration volume, serum albumin, blood urea nitrogen, and creatinine levels (p < 0.05). The ECW/ICW ratio significantly increased with decreasing ICW, but not with ECW. Patients with a higher ECW/ICW ratio and lower percent fat had significantly higher natriuretic peptide levels. After adjusting for covariates, the ECW/ICW ratio remained an independent associated factor for natriuretic peptides (β = 0.34, p < 0.001 for NT-proBNP and β = 0.40, p < 0.001 for hANP) and the left ventricular mass index (β = 0.20, p = 0.002). The ICW-ECW volume imbalance regulated by decreased cell mass may explain the reserve capacity for fluid accumulation in patients undergoing hemodialysis.

Abstract
Abstract
Background
Standard amino acid solutions have recently been removed from the contraindications for use in dialysis patients in Japan. However, the details of their safety and efficacy in these patients are still not known. In this study, we investigated the safety and efficacy of intradialytic parenteral nutrition (IDPN) using ENEFLUID® injection containing standard amino acids, glucose, electrolytes, fats, and water-soluble vitamins in maintenance hemodialysis patients with malnutrition.
Methods
This clinical trial was designed as a multicenter, prospective, non-randomized, open-label, single-arm, observational pilot study. The participants were patients on maintenance hemodialysis who were in the nutritional high-risk group according to the Nutritional Risk Index for Japanese Hemodialysis Patients. One bag of ENEFLUID® injection was administered during every hemodialysis session for 12 weeks. The primary endpoint was change in serum transthyretin levels between before and after the 12-week period. As safety endpoints, we evaluated changes in body fluid volume and blood biochemical tests, including blood urea nitrogen and electrolytes, as well as blood glucose variability using flash glucose monitoring (FGM).
Results
The mean age and body mass index of the 13 participants were 79.0 ± 10.7 years and 18.0 ± 1.7 kg/m2, respectively. No significant changes were observed in nutritional parameters, including serum transthyretin, between before and after the start of the study. After IDPN initiation, there was no obvious fluid overload or significant changes in blood biochemical tests, including electrolytes, and the treatment could be safely continued for 12 weeks. In the FGM analysis, asymptomatic hypoglycemia during hemodialysis was observed at the beginning of the study, but there was a trend toward improvement after 12 weeks (area over the curve < 70 mg/dl per dialysis session: 747.5 ± 1333.9 to 21.6 ± 54.3, P = 0.09).
Conclusions
IDPN using ENEFLUID® injection can be safely continued, although it does not significantly improve markers of nutritional status. It also showed the potential to ameliorate asymptomatic hypoglycemia during hemodialysis sessions. More detailed studies of the improvement in nutritional indicators are needed.

Abstract
Natriuretic peptide levels are elevated in persons with chronic kidney disease (CKD) stages 1-3, but it remains unclear whether this is associated with extracellular volume excess or early cardiovascular changes. We hypothesized that patients with CKD stages 1-3 would have evidence of cardiovascular changes, which would associate with brain natriuretic peptide (BNP), amino-terminal-pro-BNP (NT-pro-BNP), and patient-reported symptoms.Outpatients with CKD stages 1-3 and non-CKD controls were enrolled. Cardiovascular parameters included extracellular water (ECW) normalized to body weight measured using whole-body multifrequency bioimpedance spectroscopy, and total peripheral resistance index (TPRI) and cardiac index measured by impedance cardiography. Dyspnea, fatigue, depression, and quality of life were quantified using questionnaires.Among 21 participants (13 with CKD), median (IQR) BNP was 47.0 (28.0-302.5) vs 19.0 (12.3-92.3) pg/mL, p=0.07, and NT-pro-BNP was 245.0 (52.0-976.8) vs 26.0 (14.5-225.8) pg/mL, p=0.08, in the CKD and control groups, respectively. Those with CKD had higher pulse pressure (79 (66-87) vs 64 (49-67) mm Hg, p=0.046) and TPRI (3721 (3283-4278) vs 2933 (2745-3198) dyn×s/cm5/m2, p=0.01) and lower cardiac index (2.28 (2.08-2.78) vs 3.08 (2.43-3.37) L/min/m2, p=0.02). In the overall cohort, natriuretic peptides correlated with pulse pressure (BNP r=0.59; NT-pro-BNP r=0.58), cardiac index (BNP r=-0.76; NT-pro-BNP r=-0.62), and TPRI (BNP r=0.48), p<0.05 for each, but not with ECW/weight. TPRI and blood pressure correlated moderately with symptoms.Elevated natriuretic peptides may coincide with low cardiac index and elevated peripheral resistance in patients with CKD stages 1-3. The role of these biomarkers to detect subclinical cardiovascular changes needs to be further explored.

Abstract
Purpose Volume management in hemodialysis (HD) requires the ability to assess volume status objectively and determine treatment strategies that achieve euvolemia without compromising hemodynamic stability. The aim of this study was to compare dialysis with and without blood volume-controlled ultrafiltration (UF) in combination with body composition monitoring, and to evaluate indicators for adequate dialysis (Kt/V), ultrafiltration volume, fluid status, and the occurrence of intradialytic morbid events (IME). Patients and Methods Patients undergoing hemodialysis or on-line hemodiafiltration with support of a blood volume monitor (BVM) - a feedback control device integrated into the 5008 and 6008 HD systems - were enrolled. Patients received treatment for four weeks using the 6008 CAREsystem and the BVM (6008+). Data on dialysis dose (Kt/V), UF volume and predialysis fluid status were documented. This data was also documented retrospectively for four weeks with (5008+) and without (5008-) the use of the BVM with the 5008 system. Comparisons were analyzed using linear mixed models. Results Twenty-four patients were enrolled. Kt/V was unaffected by blood volume-controlled UF (5008- vs 5008+: p=0.230) and was equally achieved with both HD systems (5008+ vs 6008+: p=0.922). The UF volume and fluid status achieved were comparable, independent of the use of UF control with BVM (5008- vs 5008+; UF volume: p=0.166; fluid overload: p=0.390) or the HD system (5008+ vs 6008+: UF volume: p=0.003; fluid overload: p=0.838), except for UF volume being higher in the 6008+ phase. IMEs occurred in less than 3% of treatments, with no difference between study phases. Conclusion This study demonstrates that a clinical approach to kidney replacement therapy that tracks volume status and manages intradialytic fluid removal by blood volume-controlled UF delivers adequate dialysis without compromising fluid removal. It maintains volume status and ensures low incidence of IMEs.

Abstract
Background Twice-weekly hemodialysis (HD) could be regarded as an important part of incremental hemodialysis, volume status of this treatment model remains to be elucidated. Methods Patients undergoing regular twice-weekly or thrice-weekly hemodialysis in our unit on June 2015 were enrolled into the cohort study with an average of 2.02 years follow-up. Volume status of the subjects was evaluated by clinical characteristics, plasma B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) levels and bioimpedance assessments with body composition monitor (BCM). Cox proportional hazards models and Kaplan–Meier analysis were used to compare patient survival between the two groups. Results Compared with patients on thrice-weekly HD, twice-weekly HD patients had significantly higher log-transformed BNP levels (2.54 ± 0.41 vs. 2.33 ± 0.49 pg/ml, p = 0.010). Overhydration (OH) and the ratio of overhydration to extracellular water (OH/ECW) in twice-weekly HD group were significantly higher than that of thrice-weekly HD (OH, 2.54 ± 1.42 vs. 1.88 ± 1.46, p = 0.033; OH/ECW, 0.17 ± 0.07 vs. 0.12 ± 0.08, p = 0.015). However, subgroup analysis of patients within 6 years HD vintage indicated that the two groups had similar hydration status. Multivariate Cox regression analysis showed that log-transformed BNP levels, serum albumin and diabetes status were predictors of mortality in hemodialysis patients. Kaplan–Meier survival analysis indicated that patients with BNP levels higher than 500 pg/ml had significantly worse survival compared with those with lower BNP levels (p = 0.014). Conclusions Twice-weekly hemodialysis patients had worse volume status than that of thrice-weekly HD patients especially for those with long-term dialysis vintage, BNP level was a powerful predictor of mortality in HD patients.

Abstract
Volume overload is the most common complication in end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients, being directly related to numerous complications including resistant hypertension, cardiac hypertrophy, congestive heart failure or arterial stiffness, among others. Therefore, volume overload is now considered an important risk factor for hard outcomes, like all-cause or cardiovascular mortality. Relying solely on clinical examination for assessing volume overload in ESRD patients lacks sensitivity and specificity. Numerous efforts have been made to identify new methods that could objectively assess volume status; however, each of them has important limitations. This review aims to discuss the most frequently used methods (biomarkers, inferior vena cava assessment, lung ultrasonography, bioimpedance analysis and blood volume monitoring) and to compare the advantage of each method vs. the overall/ clinical strategy.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Imbalance between anabolism and catabolism is linked to cachexia and protein-energy wasting (PEW), especially in frail populations such as patients with chronic kidney disease. PEW is responsible of poor outcomes with increased morbidity and mortality. Several causes are involved in PEW such as insulin resistance, acidosis, or hyperparathyroidism. Natriuretic peptides (NPs) have recently been described as activators of resting energy expenditure through the induction of browning of white adipose tissue in rodents with chronic kidney disease. The present study was therefore implemented to investigate whether NPs could be associated with PEW criteria and predict clinical outcomes. METHODS We quantified serum N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) in a prospective cohort of 231 patients undergoing maintenance hemodialysis and atrial natriuretic peptide in a subgroup of 35 patients. Body composition parameters were measured with bioimpedance spectroscopy. RESULTS NT-proBNP was inversely associated with serum albumin, prealbumin, and body mass index and, conversely, positively associated with age and C-reactive protein. NT-proBNP as well as atrial natriuretic peptide were significantly higher in patients with PEW criteria. NT-proBNP was negatively associated with body fat mass. In multiple linear regression, NT-proBNP remained associated with body mass index. Kaplan-Meier analysis revealed a significant correlation between serum NT-proBNP concentrations and all-cause mortality and cardiovascular events. This association remained significant after multivariable Cox regression models adjusted for demographic factors and cardiovascular risk factors. CONCLUSION Accumulation of NPs seems to be associated with poor nutritional status and reduced survival among hemodialysis patients. Further studies are needed to confirm this association using resting energy expenditure measurement and adipose tissue biopsy.

Abstract
Introduction: N-terminal-pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-pro BNP) is secreted by cardiomyocytes in cases of cardiac structure disorder and volume overload. However, the relationship between NT-pro BNP level and body fluid status in dialysis patients with reduced cardiac ejection function (EF) is uncertain. Therefore, we aimed to investigate this relationship. Methods: We enrolled patients who had been receiving hemodialysis for >3 months. Blood sample, transthoracic echocardiographic, and bioimpedance spectroscopy measurements were performed during a midweek non-dialysis day. The predictive value of NT-pro BNP in hemodialysis patients with volume overload was analyzed. Results: A total of 129 hemodialysis patients (74 men and 55 women; mean age: 59.4 ± 13.0 years) were recruited. The average hemodialysis duration was 55.5 (23.9–93.4) months, the NT-pro BNP level was 4992 (2,033–15,807) pg/mL, and the value of overhydration was 2.68 ± 0.19 (−1.9 to 12.2) L. The NT-pro BNP level was independently correlated with overhydration in both the LVEF ≥ 60% (β = 0.236, P = 0.044) and LVEF <60% (β = 0.516, P = 0.032) groups, even after adjustments for potentially confounding variables. In receiver operating characteristic curves of NT-pro BNP for predicting volume overload, the area under the curve was 0.783 [95% CI (0.688–0.879), P < 0.001) and 0.788 [95% CI (0.586–0.989), P < 0.001] in the LVEF ≥ 60% and LVEF < 60% groups, respectively. Conclusions: NT-pro BNP is a predictive factor for volume overload in hemodialysis patients with or without EF declines.

Abstract
PURPOSE OF REVIEW Impaired renal function may affect natriuretic peptide levels through a variety of factors and mechanisms, such as high prevalence of concomitant vascular and myocardial diseases, reduced clearance, increased risk of volume overload, and different types and solute removal techniques in the setting of dialysis. Nevertheless, accumulating evidence suggests that natriuretic peptide testing may provide insights into management of patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and end-stage kidney disease (ESRD) on dialysis, as they have been shown to be independently associated with morbidity and mortality. RECENT FINDINGS Rising natriuretic peptide levels over time may identify CKD patients more likely to approach ESRD and requiring dialysis initiation. Moreover, serial natriuretic peptide measurements may also be helpful in guiding fluid management in ESRD patients on dialysis. However, since patients with CKD usually have significantly higher and more variable baseline levels of natriuretic peptides than those without CKD, traditional cut-off values may not be applicable, and individualized trajectories should be applied and interpreted in the clinical context. Routine clinical use natriuretic peptide testing in the CKD and ESRD settings still needs to be refined and individualized, yet their diagnostic and prognostic values can provide valuable insights into clinical trajectories and potential treatment responses.

Abstract
Background
Brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) levels are used as a marker of heart failure, which is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in dialysis patients. BNP levels increase as renal function declines. The range of BNP levels associated with satisfactory longevity in dialysis patients currently remains unknown.
Methods
In total, 660 patients receiving maintenance hemodialysis were enrolled. BNP levels were measured at the end of the year and in a follow-up to assess 1-year mortality between 2008 and 2012. Patients were divided into six groups according to BNP levels: < 50 (reference), 50 to < 100, 100 to < 300, 300 to < 500, 500 to < 1000, and ≥ 1000 pg/mL. One-year mortality at each BNP level was analyzed using Cox’s proportional hazards model after adjustments for confounding factors.
Results
During the follow-up period, 78 (11.8%) deaths were recorded. After adjustments for confounding factors, such as gender, age, hemodialysis vintage, and primary disease, the risk of 1-year mortality was significantly high with BNP levels of 500 to < 1000 (hazard ratio [HR] 3.010; 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.065–10.729; P = 0.037) and more than 1000 pg/mL (HR 5.291; 95%CI 2.014–18.170; P = 0.0003). After adjustments for Kt/V, the risk of 1-year mortality was also significantly high with BNP levels of 500 to < 1000 (HR 3.045; 95%CI 1.065–10.929; P = 0.037) and more than 1000 pg/mL (HR 5.221; 95%CI 1.943–18.165; P = 0.0006). Following further adjustments for nutritional factors, such as albumin levels, total cholesterol levels, the normalized protein catabolic rate (nPCR), body mass index (BMI), and percent creatinine generation rate (%CGR), BNP levels of 500–1000 (HR 1.990; 95%CI 0.639–7.570; P = 0.244), and more than 1000 pg/mL (HR 2.100; 95%CI 0.663–8.105; P = 0.213) were no longer risk factors.
Conclusion
In dialysis patients, a BNP level ≥ 500 pg/mL is a risk factor for 1-year mortality. The risk associated with high BNP levels is reduced by nutritional factors, which suggests a relationship between high BNP levels and the nutritional status. In conclusion, efforts are needed to maintain BNP levels at lower than 500 pg/mL and improve the nutritional status.

Abstract
Natriuretic peptides (NP), especially B type (BNP) and its N-terminal pro-B type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP), have long been regarded as biomarkers of volume overload and tools to exclude heart failure in the general population. However, their role in end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) is less certain given that BNP and NT-proBNP are excreted by the kidney and so serum concentrations of NPs are nearly universally elevated compared to controls. Nevertheless, the accumulated evidence suggests thatserum concentrations of NPs in patients with ESKD show moderate or strong positive relationships with underlying heart disease, abnormal cardiac structure or function and mortality. Limited evidence also supports the role of BNP including NT-proBNP, ANP in some studies, rather than CNP or DNP in risk stratification among ESKD patients as well as the utility of BNP samplings pre- and post- hemodialysis. However, studies of the cut-off values of NPs have yielded inconsistent results, such that further large-scale studies are needed to clarify these issues. This review summarizes the pathophysiology and significance of NPs in ESKD patients, especially their potential role as risk stratification biomarkers in clinical management.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Hypertension is multifactorial, highly prevalent in the hemodialysis (HD) population and its adequate control requires, in addition to adequate volume management, often the use of multiple antihypertensive drugs. We aimed to describe the use of antihypertensive agents in a group of HD patients and to evaluate the factors associated with the use of multiple classes (≥3) of antihypertensives. METHODS We analyzed the baseline data from the HDFit study. Clinically stable patients with HD vintage between 3 and 24 months without any severe mobility limitation were recruited from sites throughout southern Brazil. Fluid status was measured pre-dialysis with the Body Composition Monitor (BCM; Fresenius, Germany). Fluid overload (FO) was considered when the overhydration index (OH) was greater than 7% of extracellular water (OH/ECW > 7%) and overweight was defined as a body mass index (BMI) greater than 25 kg/m2 . Prescriptions of antihypertensive drugs were obtained from participants' reports and medical records. Logistic regression was employed to determine factors associated with excessive use of antihypertensive medication (≥3 classes). FINDINGS Of 195 studied patients, 171 with complete data were included (70% male, 53 ± 15 years old, 57% of them with FO). Pre-dialysis systolic blood pressure (SBP) was 150 ± 24 mmHg and patients used a median of 2 (1-3) antihypertensive drugs. Vasodilators (20%) were of lowest prevalence, use of other classes varied from 40% to 53%. Sixty-two (36%) subjects used ≥3 classes and presented a higher prevalence of diabetes and FO, lower prevalence of overweight, and higher SBP. In a logistic regression model age, BMI <25 kg/m2 , and OH/ECW > 7% were associated with excessive drug use. DISCUSSION More than one-third of participants used ≥3 classes of antihypertensive drugs, and it was associated with older age, BMI <25 kg/m2 and FO. Strategies that better manage FO may aid better blood pressure control and avoid the use of multiple antihypertensive medications.

Abstract
Background Visceral fat area (VFA) is a good surrogate marker of obesity-related disorders, such as hypertension, dyslipidemia and glucose intolerance. Although estimating the VFA by X-ray computed tomography (CT) is the primary index for visceral obesity, it is expensive and requires invasive radiation exposure. Dual bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) is a simple and reliable method to estimate VFA; however, the clinical usefulness of dual BIA remains unclear in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D). Methods We estimated the VFAs by dual BIA and CT in 98 patients with T2D and assessed anthropometric parameters, blood test results, and the presence of comorbid hypertension and dyslipidemia. We compared the correlation between the VFAs examined by dual BIA and CT. Furthermore, we performed the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analyses for the VFAs to detect the presence of comorbid hypertension and/or dyslipidemia with T2D, which are major comorbidities of visceral obesity, and estimated the area under the curve (AUC). Results The measurement error between the VFAs by dual BIA and CT was significantly higher among patients with brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) ≥ 100 pg/mL than those with BNP < 100 pg/mL (39.2% ± 31.1% vs. 24.1% ± 18.6%, P < 0.05). After excluding patients with BNP ≥ 100 pg/mL, the VFA by dual BIA significantly correlated with the VFA by CT (r = 0.917; P < 0.0001). The AUC in the ROC analysis for the VFA by dual BIA to detect the presence of comorbid hypertension and/or dyslipidemia with T2D was almost equivalent to that for the VFA by CT. Conclusions In patients with T2D without elevated BNP > 100 pg/mL as indicator for fluid accumulation interfering with BIA, estimation of the VFA by dual BIA significantly correlated with that by CT and also detected comorbid hypertension and/or dyslipidemia with T2D equivalent to those detected by CT. Hence, dual BIA could be an alternative to CT as a standard method for estimating the VFA in patients with diabetes.

Abstract
Objective Volume load in patients undergoing hemodialysis correlates with renal anemia, with reductions in volume load significantly improving hemoglobin levels. We performed a prospective controlled study to assess the effect of post-dialysis dry weight reduction, resulting from the gradual enhancement of ultrafiltration, on renal anemia in this patient population. Methods Sixty-four patients with renal anemia on maintenance hemodialysis were randomized to an ultrafiltration group, in which dry weight was gradually reduced by slightly increasing the ultrafiltration volume while maintaining routine hemodialysis, and a control group, in which patients underwent conventional dialysis while routine ultrafiltration was maintained. After 28 weeks, post-dialysis weight and levels of hematocrit, hemoglobin, C-reactive protein, serum albumin, serum ferritin, and transferrin saturation were compared. Results All parameters were similar at baseline between the two groups and remained unchanged at week 28 in the control group compared with baseline. In contrast, the ultrafiltration group showed a significant reduction in post-dialysis weight and C-reactive protein concentration and a significant increase in hematocrit, hemoglobin, albumin, serum ferritin, and transferrin saturation. Conclusions Dry weight reduction resulting from enhanced ultrafiltration may improve renal anemia in patients undergoing hemodialysis.
