Abstract
As cementation represents the last stage of the work involved in making various indirect restorations (metal ceramic crowns and bridges, full ceramic crowns and bridges, inlays, onlays, and fiber posts), its quality significantly contributes to the clinical success of the therapy performed. In the last two decades, the demand for ceramic indirect restorations in everyday dental practice has considerably increased primarily due to the growing significance of esthetics among patients, but also as a result of hypersensitivity reactions to dental alloys in some individuals. In this context, it is essential to ensure a permanent and reliable adhesive bond between the indirect restoration and the tooth structure, as this is the key to the success of aesthetic restorations. Resin-based luting materials benefit from excellent optical (aesthetic) and mechanical properties, as well as from providing a strong and durable adhesive bond between the restoration and the tooth. For this reason, resin cements are a reliable choice of material for cementing polycrystalline ceramic restorations. The current dental material market offers a wide range of resin cement with diverse and continually advancing properties. In response, we wish to note that the interest in the properties of resin-based cements among clinicians has existed for many years. Yet, despite extensive research on the subject and the resulting continued improvements in the quality of these materials, there is still no ideal resin-based cement on the market. The manuscript authors were guided by this fact when writing the article content, as the aim was to provide a concise overview of the composition, properties, and current trends, as well as some future guidelines for research in this field that would be beneficial for dental practitioners as well as the scientific community. It is extremely important to provide reliable and succinct information and guidelines for resin luting materials for dental dental practitioners.

Abstract
Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of triple antibiotic paste (TAP) as an endodontic intracanal medicament on the bond strength of epoxy and methacrylate resin-based sealers to root canal dentin. Materials and Methods: In this in vitro study, 80 single-rooted human mandibular premolars were prepared using ProTaper rotary system. The specimens were randomly divided into a control group (without intracanal dressing) and an experimental group receiving TAP (n = 40). The intracanal dressing was removed after 3 weeks. Then, samples of each group were randomly divided into four subgroups (n = 10) and obturated with gutta-percha and different resin-based sealers. G1: AH Plus, G2: Syntex, G3: EndoREZ, and G4: MetaSEAL. After 1 week, 16 slices of 1 ± 0.1 mm thickness were obtained from the midroots of teeth in each subgroup, and a push-out test was used to measure the bond strength. Slices were examined using a stereomicroscope at 30 × to determine the mode of failure. The data were analyzed using two-way analysis of variance, one-way analysis of variance, and Tukey post hoc tests (α = 0.05). Results: Compared to control group, TAP significantly increased the bond strength of MetaSEAL and EndoREZ (P < 0.05). In the control group, epoxy resin-based sealers showed higher bond strength compared to methacrylate ones (P = 0.00). In TAP group, Syntex and EndoREZ showed significantly the greatest and the lowest bond strengths, respectively, (P < 0.05). The analysis of failure modes revealed a predominance of mixed failures in all groups except for Syntex group in which most failures were cohesive. Conclusions: TAP significantly increased the bond strength of methacrylate resin-based sealers.

Abstract
Context: Three-dimensional seal of the root canal space has always been challenging. The incorporation of gutta-percha and sealer prevents microleakage by bacteria, ensuring a shielded root canal space. However, the penetration of sealer to various depths within the root canal has always been looked with curiosity. Aims: Thus, the present in vitro study was undertaken to evaluate the percentage and average depth of penetration of Endoflas F. S., AH Plus, and Epiphany sealers into dentinal tubules among the coronal, middle, and apical thirds of the roots following obturation with a lateral compaction technique using Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopy. Settings and Design: The study is an in vitro randomized control trial. Subjects and Methods: Thirty sound central incisors were decoronated at the level of the cementoenamel junction. Working length determination was done followed by a meticulous cleaning, shaping, and under copious irrigation. The teeth were then randomly divided into three groups: Endoflas FS sealer, AH Plus sealer, and Epiphany sealer. On fluorescence treatment, the teeth were sectioned at the midpoint of coronal, middle, and apical third of each root and viewed under confocal laser scanning microscope. Statistical Analysis Used: The results were analyzed using one-way ANOVA, and the significant difference between groups was analyzed with post hoc Tukey test. Results: Epiphany sealer provided with better percentage and depth penetration in comparison to Endoflas FS and AH Plus sealers. Furthermore, the coronal third of the root had better percentage and sealer penetration than the middle and apical thirds. Conclusions: Sealers tend to provide a firm bond between the tooth and the gutta-percha. They bind, lubricate, and seal the gutta-percha cones to fill the accessory canals. Within the limitations of this study, the superior flow and enhanced setting time Epihany sealers provide better percentage and depth of penetration than AH Plus and Endoflas FS.

Abstract
This study investigated the human dentin microhardness (MH) and the MTA Fillapex® (Fillapex) and AH Plus®(AH) bond strength (BS) to dentin after using calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)2) and bioactive glasses (45S5 and an experimental niobium phosphate bioactive glass (NbG)) as intracanal medications. For the MH test dentin slices were filled with medications and were submitted to Knoop MH (KHN) test (at day-0 (baseline data/without medication) and at day-15 (after using medication)). For the BS test, after medications had remained for 15 days in the roots, dentin slices were obtained and filled with the sealers. Seven days later, sealer BS to dentin was measured by push-out test (MPa). Data were statistically analyzed. Failure mode was visually assessed. The use of NbG, 45S5 for 15 days, increased the dentin MH and reduced the BS between AH sealer and dentin, but did not interfere with the Fillapex BS.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Chlorine dioxide (ClO2) has been recently investigated as a possible root canal irrigant due to its broad spectrum of antimicrobial action, tissue dissolution and smear layer removal properties. Literature is scarce on the effect of chlorine dioxide irrigation on the resin sealer dentin bond strength. AIM To compare 5% chlorine dioxide (ClO2) with or without Ethylene Diamine Tetra Acetic acid (EDTA) with 3% Sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) and EDTA combination as endodontic irrigants on the adhesion of AH Plus sealer to radicular dentin using micro- Push out Bond Strength (µPBS) test. MATERIALS AND METHODS Forty freshly extracted central incisors were decoronated and randomly divided into four groups based on the different irrigation regimes followed during irrigation: Group I - 3% NaOCl + 17% EDTA, Group II - 5% ClO2 + 17% EDTA, Group III - 5% ClO2 and Group IV - Saline, and canal enlarged till Protaper F3. All the samples were obturated with F3 gutta-percha cones using AH Plus sealer and sectioned perpendicular to long axis to obtain 1mm thick slices from the middle and coronal portions for µPBS measurement in universal testing machine followed by assessment of failure pattern under stereomicroscope. Data was analysed using One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), Bonferroni and t-test. RESULTS Bond strength values were in the following order: Group I>Group II>Group III>Group IV, with no statistically significant difference amongst experimental groups on intergroup comparison, except with saline. The µPBS values were more in coronal third than middle third in all specimens, with no statistical significant difference. Mode of failure showed mixed patterns in all experimental groups except saline. CONCLUSION In the present study, the bond strength values of ClO2 were comparable with conventional NaOCl and EDTA combination and hence, ClO2 can be considered as an effective alternative endodontic irrigant.

Abstract
Background The aim of this study was to evaluate the bond strength of AH plus, Acroseal, and Adseal to the root canal dentin. Methods A total of 36 single-rooted, mandibular premolar teeth were used. Root canal shaping procedures were performed with ProTaper rotary instruments (Dentsply Maillefer) up to size F4. The prepared samples were then randomly assembled into 3 groups (n = 12). For each group, an ultrasonic tip (size 15, 0.02 taper) which was also coated with an epoxy resin based sealer and placed 2 mm shorter than the working length. The sealer was then activated for 10 s. A push-out test was used to measure the bond strength between the root canal dentine and the sealer. Kruskal-Wallis test to evaluate the push-out bond strength of epoxy based sealer (P = 0.05). The failure mode data were statistically analyzed using Pearson’s chi square test (P = 0.05). Results Kruskal-Wallis test indicated that there were no statistically significant difference among the push out bond strength values of 3 mm (p = 0.123) and 6 mm (P = 0.057) for groups, there was statistically significant difference push out bond strength value of 9 mm (P = 0.032). Pearson’s chi square test showed statistically significant differences for the failure types among the groups. Conclusion Various epoxy resin based sealers activated ultrasonically showed similar bond strength in oval shaped root canals. Apical sections for all groups have higher push out bond strength values than middle and coronal sections. Abstract
Objective The aim of this study was to compare the correspondence between gap formation and
apical microleakage in root canals filled with epoxy resin-based (AH Plus)
combined or not with resinous primer or with a dimethacrylate-based root canal
sealer (Epiphany). Material and Methods Thirty-nine lower single-rooted human premolars were filled by the lateral
condensation technique (LC) and immersed in a 50-wt% aqueous silver nitrate
solution at 37ºC (24 h). After longitudinal sectioning, epoxy resin
replicas were made from the tooth specimens. Both the replicas and the specimens
were prepared for scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The gaps were observed in
the replicas. Apical microleakage was detected in the specimens by SEM/energy
dispersive spectroscopy (SEM/EDS). The data were analyzed statistically using an
Ordinal Logistic Regression model and Analysis of Correspondence (α=0.05).
Results Epiphany presented more regions containing gaps between dentin and sealer
(p<0.05). There was correspondence between the presence of gaps and
microleakage (p<0.05). Microleakage was similar among the root-filling
materials (p>0.05). Conclusions The resinous primer did not improve the sealing ability of AH Plus sealer and the
presence of gaps had an effect on apical microleakage for all materials.

Abstract
AIM To evaluate the influence of calcium hydroxide (CH) paste used as intracanal medication on the bond strength of AH Plus (AH) and Epiphany (EP) sealers to root dentin. METHODOLOGY Sixty palatal canals were prepared in human maxillary first molars, using a rotary system. Half of the specimens received distilled water, and the other ones received intracanal medication with CH for 14 days. Thereafter, the CH was removed and both groups were further divided into two subgroups, filled with either AH or EP. The test specimens were submitted to the micropush-out test at a speed of 0.5 mm min(-1) . Results were statistically analyzed with anova and Tukey's test at a 95% confidence level. RESULTS The use of CH had statistically significant (P < 0.05) influence on AH only, increasing its bond strength from 19.7 ± 4.5 to 23.8 ± 2.5 (mean ± SD in MPa). In both EP groups, with (1.8 ± 0.5 MPa) and without (1.5 ± 0.9 MPa) CH, the bond strength values were statistically significantly lower than in either of the AH groups (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION Calcium hydroxide used as intracanal medication for 14 days had a positive influence on the bond strength of AH to root dentin whereas the effect on EP was insignificant. Regardless of the intracanal medication used, AH showed considerably higher bond strength values compared with EP sealer.

Abstract
The aim of this laboratory study was to compare the interfacial adaptation of an epoxy-resin and a self-etch sealer in mesial root canals of mandibular molars filled using the System-B/Elements Obturation Unit. Sixty mesial root canals of mandibular molars were prepared using the K3 rotary system up to 35.04 instrument and then filled with the aid of the System-B/Elements Obturation Unit using either gutta-percha/ThermaSeal Plus (n=15) or Resilon/Real Seal SE (n=15). The single cone technique using both materials was used as control. The sealers were stained with Rhodamine B dye and the teeth were filled and sectioned at 2, 4 and 6 mm from the apex. The interfacial marginal adaptation of sealers was evaluated using confocal microscopy. Statistical analyses were performed by the Kruskall-Wallis test (α=0.05). In general, microscopic analysis showed a quite regular gap distribution pattern at sealer-dentin interfaces, mainly for the two groups filled with Real Seal SE. This means that both nonbonding root-filling groups (ThermaSeal Plus) showed significantly higher amount of gap-free regions regardless of the filling technique (p<0.05). Better marginal adaptation was obtained with gutta-percha and epoxy resin-based sealer using either the system B or the single cone technique.
