Abstract
BACKGROUND Schwannomas can occur in the body where nerve sheaths are present. Genitourinary schwannomas are very rare, especially primary bladder schwannomas. They account for only 0.1% of bladder tumours. The literature reports that simple surgical resection has a good effect and prognosis. CASE PRESENTATION A 39-year-old man had no significant improvement in symptoms due to frequent urination and urgency for 1 month following the treatment of prostatitis for 2 weeks. Ultrasound and computed tomography (CT) showed a mass in the left side wall of the bladder (size approximately 2.0 × 1.9 cm) that had clear boundaries and protruded outward from the bladder. After the extraperitoneal space was dilated with a balloon, a minimally invasive laparoscopic partial cystectomy was performed in this space to remove the tumour. The pathological diagnosis was bladder schwannoma. Immunohistochemical staining showed that it was strongly S100 protein positive. There was no recurrence after 2 years follow-up by cystoscopy and CT. CONCLUSIONS Bladder schwannomas are clinically rare benign bladder lesions and no specific clinical manifestations. Laparoscopic partial cystectomy through the extraperitoneal space is a safe and feasible treatment option.

Abstract
The urinary bladder schwannoma is an extremely rare primary urologic tumor. Schwannoma arises from the Schwann's cells in the nerve sheaths and is almost associated with von Recklinghausen's disease. We report a case of schwannoma in a 35-year old female who presented with urinary frequency for 2 months with absence of evidence of von Recklinghausen disease and successfully treated with transurethral resection of bladder lesion (TUR_B). To the best of our knowledge, this represents only the 10th case of benign schwannoma of the urinary bladder in a patient without von Recklinghausen disease. We report a case of an isolated schwannoma of the urinary bladder, and also searched the English literature as we had access to bladder schwannoma.

Abstract
Bladder schwannoma is a rare tumour arising from Schwann cells in nerve sheaths. It is usually more common in patients diagnosed with neurofibromatosis. However, isolated cases of urinary bladder schwannoma is incredibly rare, attributing to <0.1% of bladder tumours. A literature review and analysis revealed that it presents in adulthood, is mostly symptomatic and diagnosis is established histologically. We report a case of isolated bladder schwannoma in 25 year-old female who presented with dyspareunia.

Abstract
Schwannomas, not uncommon in the head and neck, rarely occur in the pelvis. Here we describe a seminal vesicle schwannoma, the first of its kind successfully excised via robotic surgery. An otherwise well 62 year−old male presented with a complaint of rectal pain. Colonoscopy identified a mass effect on the rectum, suggesting an external lesion. A computed tomography scan revealed a right seminal vesicle mass. Transrectal ultrasound guided biopsy returned a tissue diagnosis of schwannoma. To aid in operative planning, magnetic resonance imaging of the prostate and pelvis was obtained with and without contrast. This defined a 5 × 4 × 4 cm3 mass abutting the right seminal vesicle without evidence of invasion into adjacent structures. The patient underwent an elective robotic−assisted laparoscopic resection of the mass. Final pathology demonstrated a completely excised schwannoma arising from the soft tissue adherent to the right seminal vesicle.

Abstract
Schwannoma is a benign tumor arising from the Schwann cells of peripheral nerves. These are usually benign but malignant transformation can occur in larger lesions. The definitive diagnosis of malignancy can only be made after final histopathological report. The literature reports large pelvic and perineal schwannomas with few being malignant. We report the first case of such giant malignant abdominoperineal schwannoma which was benign on initial biopsy but final histopathology revealed it to be malignant. In view of proximity of perineal and pelvic tumors to urogenital organs and pelvic nerves, such cases represent a challenge to surgical excision. This case brings to highlight another atypical presentation of such tumors.

Abstract
Introduction Schwannoma, otherwise known as a neurilemmoma, is a tumor arising from peripheral nerve sheaths. Although commonly noted in association with the eighth cranial nerve as intracranial acoustic neuroma, cases of schwannoma arising in other locations have been reported in the literature. These tumors usually cause symptoms as a result of their mass effect and, since they are benign, encapsulated and non-invasive tumors, complete surgical excision is considered curative. Case presentation We report the case of a 46-year-old Sri Lankan man who presented to our facility with recent onset of difficulty evacuating his bowels. He was noted to have a giant presacral schwannoma on magnetic resonance imaging scan. The mass was surgically excised with improvement of our patient’s symptoms. A subsequent histopathological examination confirmed the presence of a benign schwannoma. Conclusions Although schwannomas commonly occur in the extremities, a rare case of occurrence in the pelvis is reported here. Due to the limited space in the pelvis, the local mass effect may be the presenting feature of such a lesion and surgical excision is curative.

Abstract
Schwannoma is a tumor originating from the Schwann cell of the peripheral nerve sheath. The diagnosis of schwannoma is based on histologic analysis of surgically excised sample. Retroperitoneal ancient schwannoma, a variant of schwannoma, is rarely observed in clinical practice. We report the case of a 46-year-old man with a retroperitoneal tumor embedded in the psoas muscle, which was treated by laparoscopic resection. The operative result was good, and pathologic analysis revealed a 5.5 × 4.5 cm ancient schwannoma.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Ancient schwannomas are degenerate peripheral nerve sheath tumors that very rarely occur in the retroperitoneum. They generally reach large proportions before producing symptoms due to mass effect. We describe three cases of retroperitoneal ancient schwannomas and discuss the diagnosis and management of these tumors. CASE PRESENTATIONS Three female patients with retroperitoneal ancient schwannomas were reviewed. One patient presented with several weeks of upper abdominal pain and lower chest discomfort, whereas back pain and leg pain with associated weakness were predominant symptoms in the remaining two. Abdominal imaging findings demonstrated heterogeneous masses in the retroperitoneum with demarcated margins, concerning for malignancy. The patients successfully had radical excision of their tumors. Histological examination showed encapsulated tumors that displayed alternating areas of dense cellularity and areas of myxoid matrix consistent with a diagnosis of ancient schwannoma. CONCLUSION A diagnosis of ancient schwannoma should be entertained for any heterogeneous, well encapsulated mass in the retroperitoneum. In these cases less radical surgical resection should be considered as malignant transformation of these tumors is extremely rare and recurrence is uncommon following excision.

Abstract
Schwannoma is a tumor originating from neural sheath schwann cells. We report here a case of benign retroperitoneal schwannoma that caused bilateral ureterohydronephrosis. The retroperitoneal localization in the present case is unusual. The tumor was 21 x 18 x 11 cm in dimension and reached from the prostate to the umbilical level. Even though the patient had bilateral hydronephrosis, the renal function tests results were in the normal range. Complete surgical excision was achieved by anterior laparotomy. Histological and immunohistochemical studies confirmed the diagnosis. At 6 months follow-up there was no evidence of recurrence and renal function test results were normal.

Abstract
The urinary bladder is an extremely rare site for primary schwannomas. They are most often associated with von Recklinghausen disease. This patient was found to have a schwannoma of the bladder in the absence of evidence of von Recklinghausen disease and was successfully treated with a partial cystectomy. This represents only the third such case in the literature of this entity.
