Abstract
Solar radiation and environmental pollutants are factors that cause changes in the skin that trigger skin aging. The objective of the study is to evaluate the rejuvenating effects of a complex formed by hyaluronic acid supplemented with vitamins, amino acids and oligopeptides in explants of human skin. For this, surplus skin samples have been obtained from donors that have been resected and cultivated on slides with membrane inserts. The complex was administered to some skin explants and the percentage of cells with low, medium and high levels of melanin was evaluated as an indicator of the degree of pigmentation. Other skin segments were irradiated with UVA/UVB, then the product was administered on several slides and the levels of collagen, elastin, sulfated GAG and MMP1 were evaluated. The results show that the administration of the complex significantly reduces the percentage of skin cells with a high melanin content by 16%, and that in skin irradiated with UVA/UVB, there is a decrease in the content of collagen, elastin and sulfate GAGs, and the complex reverses this reduction without changing MMP1 levels. This suggests that the compound has anti-aging and depigmentation effects on the skin, giving a skin rejuvenation appearance.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Skin revitalizers are used for skin quality improvement purposes. Hyaluronan hybrid cooperative complexes (HCC, Profhilo®, IBSA Pharmaceuticals) are an anti-aging treatment with a large amount of pure hyaluronic acid (HA) based on stable, cooperative, and hybrid complexes. Cohesive polydensified matrix Hyaluronic Acid (CPM-HA20, Belotero Revive®, Merz Pharmaceuticals GmbH) is a slightly cross-linked HA (20 mg/ml) with glycerol (17.5 mg/ml). AIMS To evaluate the performance of HCC and CPM-HA20G for skin quality improvement in healthy female subjects. METHODS This was a split-face, single-blinded study that enrolled 24 healthy female subjects. Injections were given on three separate occasions. HCC was injected on the right cheek, while CPM-HA20G was injected on the left cheek. A battery of skin property measurements was used to evaluate the skin. Skin properties and overall satisfaction were analyzed using mixed models with the values at baseline, at week 1, week 8, and week 14 as an outcome and a random effect of subject and fixed effects of treatment, visit, and the treatment by visit interaction. RESULTS Both products showed evidence of effect relative to baseline on surface hydration (AU), elasticity (N/m) TEWL (g/m2 h), and melanin (AU). CPM-HA20G also showed significant evidence of effect relative to baseline on water content (%), and HCC on pore count (n) and hemoglobin (AU). Satisfaction reported by the subjects themselves showed positive trends of satisfaction over time for multiple skin properties. There were no significant differences between the tested products in the observed skin characteristics over time. CONCLUSION These devices are effective and safe treatments for skin quality improvement, especially moisturization, with high patient satisfaction and generally mild and transient side effects.

Abstract
Background: There is a growing interest in the application of hyaluronic acid (HA) derivatives in skin quality improvement. The aim of this study was to confirm safety and effectiveness of cohesive polydensified matrix-hyaluronic acid + glycerol (CPM-HA20G; Belotero Revive) in revitalization of early-onset photodamaged facial skin. Methods: A total of 159 subjects with early signs of facial photodamaged skin were randomized in a 2:1 ratio to multiple- or single-dose treatment with CPMHA20G. Effectiveness assessments included biophysical measurements of skin hydration; elasticity, firmness, and roughness; investigator- and subject-assessed Global Aesthetic Improvement Scales; and FACE-Q Skin Changes and Treatment Satisfaction questionnaires. Results: In both treatment groups, skin hydration improved from baseline to all follow-up visits in subjects with dry or very dry skin. This improvement was significant at week 16 after initial treatment in the multiple-dose group (P = 0.0013). Investigator- and subject-reported outcomes showed that the majority of subjects across all skin hydration types benefited from treatment, with higher satisfaction rates observed in the multiple-dose group. According to investigator-assessed Global Aesthetic Improvement Scale, 90.7% of subjects at week 12 in the multiple-dose and 74.6% of subjects at week 4 in the single-dose group were rated as at least “improved.” All related treatment-emergent adverse events were transient, expected injection-site reactions of mild to moderate intensity. Conclusions: Effectiveness of CPM-HA20G for skin hydration in subjects with dry or very dry skin was demonstrated up to 9 months after last injection. Overall, CPM-HA20G demonstrated effective and safe use in facial skin revitalization among subjects with early-onset photodamaged skin.

Abstract
Background Hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers are popular for the treatment of signs of facial skin aging. Objective The objective of this study was to confirm the performance and safety of a new cohesive polydensified matrix HA filler ([CPM®-HA20G, Belotero Revive®, lidocaine-free], Merz Pharmaceuticals GmbH, Frankfurt, Germany) for the treatment of early signs of facial skin aging by use of biophysical measurements as well as subject and investigator satisfaction. Methods Twenty-five healthy female subjects with signs of facial skin aging were enrolled in this open-label, rater-blinded, observational post-market clinical follow-up study, and received 20 micropuncture treatments of 50 µL CPM®-HA20G each into the lower cheek area at three injection visits 4 weeks apart. Objective biophysical assessments were conducted to demonstrate effects on viscoelastic properties of the skin, surface roughness, tone and radiance, and hydration, at baseline and at all follow-up visits up to 36 weeks. Results CPM®-HA20G significantly increased gross elasticity of the skin (at weeks 9 and 12), skin firmness (up to week 24), skin tone and radiance and skin hydration (all up to 36 weeks). Significant reduction of skin fatigue (up to 9 weeks), skin roughness (up to 28 weeks), and redness (up to 36 weeks) was also observed. Subjects and blinded investigator were highly satisfied with the treatment outcomes. The treating investigator reported a high level of satisfaction with the ease of injection and the clinical performance of the device. Moreover, data demonstrated a good safety profile of the device. Conclusion CPM®-HA20G is considered to be an effective and safe HA injectable for skin revitalization in patients suffering from signs of skin aging and loss of skin elasticity. It seems to be a perfect early intervention approach in patients that do not need volumizing treatment and a combination approach in older patients with more pronounced aging.

Abstract
BACKGROUND QueryHyaluronic acid (HA) is a large polymer increasingly used as dermal filler. HA does not permeate through healthy skin and is administered using various injection techniques. As HA procedures become more popular, the number of complications in facial rejuvenation procedures is likely to increase. Alternative methods may be necessary to satisfy the increasing demand for HA procedures. High-frequency high-intensity ultrasound is a painless and noninvasive method to deliver large molecules to the skin that is expected to deliver HA with visible results. OBJECTIVE Assess facial rejuvenation with HA delivered with high-frequency high-intensity ultrasound. METHODS Fifteen women (mean age 55) willing to participate in a randomized, double-blind, face-split trial with HA and placebo formulations in different sides of the face, were subject to five treatment sessions with high-frequency high-intensity ultrasound. Photographs taken before the procedure and after the last procedure were evaluated by a panel of five experts, blind to which side was treated with the HA or with the placebo. RESULTS The expert panel identified a noticeable facial rejuvenation in the HA side relative to the placebo with a very statistically significant difference between the two sides (p < 0.0001). CONCLUSIONS Administration of HA with high-frequency high-intensity ultrasound is safe and leads to unambiguous facial rejuvenation. Consensus Recommendations for Combined Aesthetic Interventions Using Botulinum Toxin, Fillers, and Microfocused Ultrasound in the Neck, Décolletage, Hands, and Other Areas of the Body. Abstract
BACKGROUND The popularity of aesthetic procedures in the face has led to greater disparity between treated areas and those that still show evidence of true age. Although many areas of the body often require multiple treatment procedures for optimal rejuvenation, combination therapy for specific areas is not yet well defined. OBJECTIVE To develop recommendations for the optimal combination and ideal sequence of botulinum toxin (BoNT), hyaluronic acid, calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA), and microfocused ultrasound with visualization in nonfacial areas across all skin phototypes. METHODS Fifteen specialists convened under the guidance of a certified moderator. Consensus was defined as approval from 75% to 94% of all participants, whereas agreement of ≥95% denoted a strong consensus. RESULTS Recommendations have been provided for the neck, décolletage, and hands and include the timing and sequence of specific procedures when used concurrently or over several treatment sessions. Position statements are offered in lieu of consensus for the upper arms, abdomen, buttocks, and knees. CONCLUSION Nonfacial rejuvenation often requires multiple procedures for optimal results in individuals with significant age-related changes. Further clinical studies are recommended to raise awareness of non-facial indications and provide clinicians with the best evidence for best treatment practices.

Abstract
Background Cohesive monophasic polydensified fillers show unique viscoelastic properties and variable density of hyaluronic acid, allowing for a homogeneous tissue integration and distribution of the material. Objective The aim of this paper was to review the clinical data regarding the performance, tolerability, and safety of the Belotero® fillers for soft-tissue augmentation and rejuvenation. Methods A literature search was performed up until May 31, 2015 to identify all relevant articles on Belotero® fillers (Basic/Balance, Hydro, Soft, Intense, Volume) and equivalent products (Esthélis®, Mesolis®, Fortélis®, Modélis®). Results This comprehensive review included 26 papers. Findings from three randomized controlled trials showed a greater reduction in nasolabial fold severity with Belotero® Basic/Balance than with collagen (at 8, 12, 16, and 24 weeks, n=118) and Restylane® (at 4 weeks, n=40), and higher patient satisfaction with Belotero® Intense than with Perlane® (at 2 weeks, n=20). With Belotero® Basic/Balance, an improvement of at least 1 point on the severity scale can be expected in ~80% of patients 1–6 months after injection, with an effect still visible at 8–12 months. Positive findings were also reported with Belotero® Volume (no reduction in hyaluronic acid volume at 12 months, as demonstrated by magnetic resonance imaging), Soft (improvement in the esthetic outcomes when used in a sequential approach), and Hydro (improvement in skin appearance in all patients). The most common adverse effects were mild-to-moderate erythema, edema, and hematoma, most of which were temporary. There were no reports of Tyndall effect, nodules, granulomas, or tissue necrosis. Conclusion Clinical evidence indicates sustainable esthetic effects, good safety profile, and long-term tolerability of the Belotero® fillers, particularly Belotero® Basic/Balance and Intense.
