Giant retroperitoneal hemolymphangioma: A case report and review of literature

BACKGROUND

Hemolymphangioma is a very rare benign tumor in clinical practice caused by abnormalities of the vasculature. Its clinical features are often atypical, and it is easy to miss and misdiagnose. When the time of nuclear magnetic T1 is significantly reduced, the diagnosis of hemangioma should be considered. Therefore, we report this case in the hope of raising clinicians' awareness of the disease.

CASE SUMMARY

A 37-year-old man presented with a giant retroperitoneal hemolymphangioma. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging indicated the possibility of a large perirenal lymphatic cyst. The postoperative pathological diagnosis is retroperitoneal hemolymphangioma. The patient underwent surgical excision after adequate drainage. The postoperative recovery was smooth and there were no complications. There was no recurrence during half a year of follow-up.

CONCLUSION

This case reiterates that large retroperitoneal cystic masses with significantly shortened nuclear T1 time should be considered hemolymphangioma. Specific clinical basis and experience for the diagnosis and treatment of these diseases is necessary.

Case report: obstruction in the right ventricular outflow tract due to hemolymphangioma

Cardiac masses commonly involve primary tumors, metastatic diseases, and nonbacterial thrombotic and infective endocarditis. myxomas are the most common primary tumors, accounting for 75%. Hemolymphangiomas are a group of congenital vascular and lymphatic malformations that originate from the mesenchyme, with an incidence rate of 0.12%-0.28% per year. Hemolymphangiomas have been found in the rectum, small intestine, spleen, liver, chest wall, and mediastinum but have not yet been reported in the ventricular outflow tract in the heart. Herein, we report a case of a hemolymphangioma tumor in the right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT). The tumor was successfully resected, and the patient was followed up for 18 months and did not exhibit tumor recurrence.

Primary lung lymphoma involving the superior vena cava

Primary lung lymphoma (PLL) presenting as a primary pulmonary lesion is rare and usually affects elderly people. Here we describe a 25-year-old Chinese man diagnosed with primary lung lymphoma, which presented as a huge lung tumor mimicking a primary lung cancer and involving the superior vena cava. He underwent double-sleeve reconstructions of bronchus and pulmonary arteries with right upper- and middle-lobe lobectomy along with replacement of the superior vena cava with a graft, and was then given standard chemotherapy of CHOP plus Rituximab. The patient has been well, showing no local recurrence or distal metastasis during a 27-month follow-up.

Hemolymphangioma of the chest wall: A rare case report

Hemolymphangioma is a rare, benign and non-invasive type of tumor. Only a few cases have been reported in the literature. In the present study, we report a case of hemolymphangioma growing on the left anterior chest wall of a 57-year-old woman. Physical and laboratory examinations were all normal. However, computed tomography (CT) revealed a mass. A CT-guided biopsy was performed, followed by a thoracoscopic resection and thoracotomy. The postoperative course of the patient was uneventful. Follow up of the patient is ongoing. The findings of this case report, however, showed the significance of complete excision versus minimally invasive surgery to reduce recurrence.
