Abstract
OBJECTIVE To improve wound-related quality of life (QoL) in clients with hard-to-heal wounds in their lower limbs and to increase referrals to multidisciplinary teams in the management of care for these clients. METHOD This was a quality improvement project with a two-group pretest-posttest interventional evaluation design. We implemented a package of interventions including the WounDS app, education related to wound care, and client engagement through a QoL self-assessment. Wound-related QoL was measured using the Cardiff Wound Impact Schedule and referrals to the multidisciplinary team were tracked through chart audits. We explored nurses' experiences with the interventions through semi-structured interviews. RESULTS Clients' average ratings for 'wellbeing', 'physical symptoms and daily living', and 'overall QoL' improved by 27%, 38% and 54%, respectively. The number of referrals increased by 78% post intervention. Nurses described the interventions as effective strategies that motivated them to implement a holistic approach to care. CONCLUSION The project was successful in creating a culture shift to practice holistic wound care. This package of interventions (WounDS app, education and client self-assessment of QoL) led to improvements in the QoL of clients with hard-to-heal wounds. Further studies are needed to generalise the findings. Strategies for sustainability include forming a champion group and providing the education and decision supports based on nurses' educational needs assessment.

Abstract
Recent advances in digital health and increasing access to mobile health (mHealth) tools have led to more effective self-care. This study aimed to identify the minimum data set (MDS) and the requirements of a smartphone application (app) to support caregivers of children with severe burns. The study was performed in three phases in a burn center in the north of Iran in 2022. In the first phase, a literature review was performed. In the second phase, interviews were conducted with 18 caregivers. The third phase was performed in two stages: first, an initial questionnaire was prepared in which the content validity ratio and content validity index were calculated. The final questionnaire included 71 data elements about the MDS and requirements and open-ended elements. Then, the data elements were surveyed by 25 burn experts using the Delphi technique. The minimum acceptable mean score for each item was 3.75. Out of the 71 elements in the first Delphi round, 51 were accepted. In the second Delphi round, 14 data elements were assessed. The most important elements for the MDS were a family relationship, TBSA, the primary cause of the burn, anatomical location, itch, pain, and infection. User registration, educational materials, caregiver-clinician communication, chat box, and appointment booking were the most highlighted functional requirements. Safe login was the most important element for the nonfunctional requirements. It is recommended that health managers and software designers use these functionalities in designing smartphone apps for caregivers of children with burns.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate studies that present computational systems to aid healing and systems which refer to the use of low-level laser.Method: Scope review that aimed to answer the question: Which computer systems help in wound healing? A subquestion was: Which of the computer systems refer to the use of low-level laser? Results: From the search, applying the eligibility criteria, 49 articles made up the final sample. The systems served multiple purposes in support of wound healing; the majority presented the health professional as a user of the system; medicine was the most mentioned professional area despite nursing being involved in the management of care for people with wounds. Innovation in care using the computer system was frequently reported, demonstrating the importance of this type of tool for clinical practice. There was a high frequency of the mobile platform, showing that this is a current trend. Conclusion:Computer systems have been used as tools to support patients and especially professionals in wound healing. Regarding the systems aimed at the low intensity laser, there was a shortage of computer systems for this purpose, with a study.

Abstract
Objetivo:Investigar estudos que apresentem sistemas computacionais de auxílio à cicatrização de feridas e quais sistemas se referem ao uso de laser de baixa intensidade. Método: Revisão de escopo que visou responder à questão de pesquisa: Quais sistemas computacionais auxiliam na cicatrização de feridas? Uma subquestão foi: quais sistemas computacionais se referem ao uso do laser de baixa intensidade? Resultados: A partir da busca, aplicando os critérios de elegibilidade, 49 artigos compuseram a amostra final. Os sistemas apresentaram várias finalidades de apoio à cicatrização de feridas, em que a maioria apresentou como usuário do sistema o profissional de saúde, sendo a medicina a área profissional mais mencionada, embora a enfermagem esteja envolvida com o manejo do cuidado às pessoas com feridas. Foi relatada com frequência a inovação na assistência a partir do uso do sistema computacional, o que demonstra a importância desse tipo de ferramenta para a prática clínica. Verificou-se com frequência o uso de plataforma mobile, como tendência da atualidade. Conclusão: Os sistemas computacionais têm sido utilizados como ferramentas para apoiar pacientes e principalmente profissionais na cicatrização de feridas. Quanto ao laser de baixa intensidade, houve escassez de sistemas computacionais com essa finalidade, com apenas um estudo.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE ASTHMAXcel© is a mobile application previously shown to improve asthma knowledge, control, and quality of life. In this study, we translated the application to Marathi for pilot testing in Pune, India in order to evaluate its impact on user satisfaction and asthma knowledge among adult asthma patients. METHODS ASTHMAXcel© was adapted to Marathi with the help of asthma patients and clinicians from Bharati Hospital. 57 different asthma patients were then recruited and received the Asthma Knowledge Questionnaire (AKQ), Asthma Control Questionnaire (ACQ), and Mini Asthma Quality of Life Questionnaire (Mini-AQLQ) to complete at baseline. Study participants then completed the adapted ASTHMAXcel© application. Post-intervention, participants filled out a post-AKQ and Questionnaire for User Interface Satisfaction (QUIS). A subset of participants was also interviewed for qualitative feedback. Paired t-tests and Pearson's correlation were used for statistical analysis. RESULTS Mean AKQ improved from 5.0+/-2.4 to 12.4+/-1.6 (p = 0.0001). QUIS results revealed that participants were highly satisfied with the application, scoring an average of 50 out of 54 maximum points. Better baseline asthma control was correlated with greater overall experience with the application (-0.110, p = 0.0417). Finally, the qualitative feedback revealed four themes for future refinement. CONCLUSION The adapted version of ASTHMAXcel© was linked to significant improvement in patient asthma knowledge and a high level of user satisfaction. These results support the potential utility of mHealth applications in promoting guideline-based asthma care in India. However, further studies are needed to establish a causal relationship between ASTHMAXcel© and improved clinical outcomes.

The Effect of a Patient Education Multimodal Digital Platform on Knowledge Acquisition, Self-efficacy, and Patient Satisfaction. Comput Inform Nurs 2022; 41:356-364. Abstract
This study examined the impact of digital training instrument based on multimodal learning approach on surgical ward hospitalized patient education-related variables. The study was conducted as a multisite study in a large medical center as a two-arm, controlled trial with randomized cluster sampling. All patients meeting the inclusion criteria were offered the opportunity to participate. The control group (n = 40) received nurse explanation on home self-injection of enoxaparin sodium, whereas the intervention group (n = 40) received a tablet for multimodal learning specifically developed for this study. All participants completed before-and-after questionnaires evaluating knowledge acquisition, change in self-efficacy, and patient satisfaction. Results showed that the intervention group gained significantly more knowledge than the control group (P < .01). There was no significant difference in the level of self-efficacy change between the groups, and it was found that the control group patients were more satisfied with the training process (P = .01). This study shows that the use of a digital application for the benefit of patients' self-injection learning is effective in achieving educational goals such as knowledge acquisition and therefore can be a helpful resource for caregivers. Yet, these applications are not a substitute for attention provided by professionals, which is highly valued by patients.

Abstract
Mobile Health (mHealth) technologies are becoming integral to our healthcare system. This study evaluated the feasibility (compliance, usability and user satisfaction) of a mHealth application (app) for delivering Enhanced Recovery Protocols (ERPs) information to Cardiac Surgery (CS) patients peri-operatively. This single centre, prospective cohort study involved patients undergoing CS. Patients received a mHealth app developed for the study at consent and for 6-8 weeks post-surgery. Patients completed system usability, patient satisfaction and quality of life surveys pre- and post-surgery. A total of 65 patients participated in the study (mean age of 64 years). The app achieved an overall utilization rate of 75% (68% vs 81% for <65 and ≥65 years respectively). Pre-surgery, the majority of patients found the app easy to use (94%), user-friendly (89%), and felt confident using the app (92%). The majority also found the app's educational information useful (90%) and easy to find (88%). 75% of patients reported that they would like to use the app frequently. This percentage decreased to 57% in the post-discharge survey. A lower percentage of patients ≥65 years indicated their preference for the app over printed information (51% vs 87%) and their recommendation for the app (84% vs 100% for >65 and <65 years respectively) in the post-surgery survey. MHealth technology is feasible for peri-operative CS patient education, including older adult patients. The majority of patients were satisfied with the app and would recommend using it over the use of printed materials.

Abstract
Introduction The availability of healthcare apps to support patient self-management of various medical conditions, including cancer, has increased considerably in the past decade. However, there are limited published data on the role of apps in the management of chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML). The primary aim of this study was to investigate the current and future role of apps as a means of supporting patients with CML. Methods A 31-item questionnaire was developed and distributed to patients via three on-line CML support groups. Results Responses were received from 286 patients. There was an approximate 2:1 female: male split and the majority (54%, n = 155) resided in the United Kingdom. 91% (n = 260) of respondents were currently receiving drug treatment for their CML. 23.4% (n = 67) of respondents were aware that apps were available to support their CML management and 11.5% (n = 33) had experience of using such an app. 94.1% (n = 238) of those who had not used a patient support app in the past stated that they would consider using an app in the future to help manage their disease. App awareness was significantly higher amongst male patients (30.3% vs. 19.9%). Likelihood of being a current or previous app user was higher amongst younger patients (16.3% for <55 years old vs. 5.6% for ≥55 years old) whilst younger patients and those with a more recent diagnosis of CML were both more likely to be interested in using an app in the future. When asked about potential app functionality, a drug interaction checker was the feature of greatest interest to respondents. Conclusions We have identified both a lack of awareness of and a low uptake of patient support apps amongst CML patients. Importantly, we have demonstrated a clear interest in CML-specific apps amongst this population. Based on the functionality that study participants were most interested in, we will work with health care professionals, app developers and patients to develop a new app to deliver holistic support to CML patients.

Abstract
The use of mobile technology and equipment has been found to be successful in the governance of public health. In the context of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, mobile health (mhealth) apps are expected to play an important role in the governance of public health. This study establishes a structural equation model based on the digital content value chain framework, identifies the main values created by mhealth apps in the prevention and control of COVID-19, and surveys 500 citizens of China. The data were analyzed using an independent t-test and partial least squares structural equations (PLS-SEM). The results showed that people who use mhealth apps are more satisfied with public health governance than those who do not; the healthcare assurance value of mhealth apps and healthcare confidence positively influence the interaction between users and mhealth app functions, the interaction with information, and the interaction with doctors to improve users’ satisfaction with public health governance; and the parasocial relationships between doctors and users of mhealth apps positively affect the interactions between users and doctors to improve users’ satisfaction with public health governance. This study confirms the potential of mhealth apps toward improving public health governance during the COVID-19 pandemic from a new perspective and provides a new theoretical basis whereby mobile technology can contribute toward improving public health governance.

Abstract
ABSTRACT Objectives: to synthesize knowledge about technology for self-care in surgical wound infection surveillance. Methods: integrative review conducted in CINAHL, Embase, LILACS, PubMed, Scopus and Web of Science databases with the descriptors “surgical wound infection” and “self-care”, in addition to manual search in the references of the included studies. The selection and evaluation of the methodological quality of the studies and data collection were performed by two independent reviewers; conflicts were resolved by a third reviewer. Results: nine primary studies were included, published between 2011 and 2019. Six are cross-sectional, two are randomized clinical trials, and one is a case report. Mobile, text messaging, and imaging applications, computer software, assessments, and data storage capacity stand out. Conclusions: the technologies identified for self-care in surgical wound infection surveillance were the creation and use of mHealth and the use of health apps on mobile devices. Effective technologies in surveillance of surgical wound infection that enable rapprochement with the healthcare team, encourage a greater number of surgical wound assessments, enhance self-care actions, and decrease patient anxiety. Technology is also a monitored and recorded form of patient care, one of the main axes of infection surveillance.

Abstract
Background This study aims to investigate the effects of a nursing quality control and audit application (app) on the autonomous learning of nursing staff and nursing quality management by nursing supervisors. A multilevel interactive app is developed to assist nursing staff in conducting online autonomous learning and nursing supervisors in identifying problems and creating nursing quality improvement plans. The app could also present the different evaluation results of wards in visual charts for supervisors to review. Methods A single-group pre- and post-test design was applied. Data were collected from 131 nurses between October 2019 and October 2020 to analyze the differences between nursing staffs’ willingness to engage in autonomous learning and the integrity of nursing quality improvement plan writing before and after the intervention. The structured questionnaires included open-ended questions that cover aspects of nursing quality control, the audit app, and the information acceptance intention of nurses. Results The participants’ age and job title are negatively correlated with the app’s usability, while the ability to use 3C (Computer, Communication, and Consumer Electronics products including mobile phones and laptops) equipment is positively correlated with the willingness to use the app. Nurses’ satisfaction with the convenience of the online autonomous learning method is 92%, which indicates that the app could improve their willingness to learn. Following the intervention of the app, nursing supervisors’ satisfaction with the integrity of nursing quality improvement plan writing increased from 41 to 88%. Conclusions Using information technology products to assist in nursing quality management in clinical practice has a significant effect on nurses’ load reduction and head nurses’ satisfaction. Multilevel interactive nursing quality control and audit apps can improve nursing staff’s willingness to learn independently, nursing quality, and the integrity of plan writing. Thus, nursing quality control and audit apps can be considered as suitable nursing quality control tools.
