Abstract
BACKGROUND To provide high-quality patient care, heart failure (HF) nurses must comprehend/use best evidence; however, HF nurses' ability to do so are unknown. OBJECTIVES To describe HF nurses' research interest/involvement, confidence, facilitators/motivators, and barriers to lead/collaborate in research studies. METHODS A descriptive design with convenience sampling and online data collection (Qualtrics) were used with American Association of HF Nurses members. Recruited/included nurses (n = 145) needed to be of any educational level and currently practicing in any practice setting in the United States. A 30-item, adapted instrument assessed research interest (one-question), involvement (two-questions), confidence (two-questions), facilitators (one-question), motivators (three-questions), and barriers (21-questions). RESULTS Subjects (n = 145) were Caucasian (n = 124, 86.1 %) females (n = 137, 96.5 %) with an average age of 52.5 ± 10.38 years and 26.90±12.06 years of nursing experience. Nurses were interested in conducting nursing research (7.78/10±2.37) but involvement was low. Most frequently (n = 73, 50.3 %) nurses served as principal/co-investigators. Confidence with research participation was moderate (70.28/100±26.92) and in their ability to understand/apply research findings were low (21.68/100±80.07). The most frequently reported facilitator was the ability to control their own schedule/work (n = 30, 20.7 %) and the strongest motivator (n = 107, 73.8 %) was the perception presenting nursing research/EBP impacts HF care. The greatest reported barrier was the authority to seek research funding (2.39/5 ± 1.14). Nursing experience (p=.034), interest in participating in nursing research (p=.01), and how much presenting nursing research/EBP impacted one's performance review (p<.001) added to the prediction (R2=0.499, p<.001). CONCLUSIONS The gained knowledge may promote development of innovative programs and educational opportunities to increase HF nurses' research activities.

Abstract
Guideline-directed medical therapies and guideline-directed nonpharmacological therapies improve quality of life and survival in patients with heart failure (HF), but eligible patients, particularly women and individuals from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups, are often not treated with these therapies. Implementation science uses evidence-based theories and frameworks to identify strategies that facilitate uptake of evidence to improve health. In this scientific statement, we provide an overview of implementation trials in HF, assess their use of conceptual frameworks and health equity principles, and provide pragmatic guidance for equity in HF. Overall, behavioral nudges, multidisciplinary care, and digital health strategies increased uptake of therapies in HF effectively but did not include equity goals. Few HF studies focused on achieving equity in HF by engaging stakeholders, quantifying barriers and facilitators to HF therapies, developing strategies for equity informed by theory or frameworks, evaluating implementation measures for equity, and titrating strategies for equity. Among these HF equity studies, feasibility was established in using various educational strategies to promote organizational change and equitable care. A couple include ongoing randomized controlled pragmatic trials for HF equity. There is great need for additional HF implementation trials designed to promote delivery of equitable guideline-directed therapy.

Abstract
Empirical evidence indicates that collaborative interprofessional practice leads to positive health outcomes. Further, there is an abundance of evidence examining student and/or faculty perceptions of learning or satisfaction about the interprofessional education (IPE) learning experience. However, there is a dearth of research linking IPE interventions to patient outcomes. The objective of this scoping review was to describe and summarize the evidence linking IPE interventions to the delivery of effective patient care. A three-step search strategy was utilized for this review with articles that met the following criteria: publications dated 2015-2020 using qualitative, quantitative or mixed methods; the inclusion of healthcare professionals, students, or practitioners who had experienced IPE or training that included at least two collaborators within coursework or other professional education; and at least one of ten Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services quality measures (length of stay, medication errors, medical errors, patient satisfaction scores, medication adherence, patient and caregiver education, hospice usage, mortality, infection rates, and readmission rates). Overall, n=94 articles were identified, providing overwhelming evidence supporting a positive relationship between IPE interventions and several key quality health measures including length of stay, medical errors, patient satisfaction, patient or caregiver education, and mortality. Findings from this scoping review suggest a critical need for the development, implementation, and evaluation of IPE interventions to improve patient outcomes.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Healthcare organizations have increasingly utilized facilitation to improve implementation of evidence-based practices and programs (e.g., primary care mental health integration). Facilitation is both a role, related to the purpose of facilitation, and a process, i.e., how a facilitator operationalizes the role. Scholars continue to call for a better understanding of this implementation strategy. Although facilitation is described as dynamic, activities are often framed within the context of a staged process. We explored two understudied characteristics of implementation facilitation: 1) how facilitation activities change over time and in response to context, and 2) how facilitators operationalize their role when the purpose of facilitation is both task-focused (i.e., to support implementation) and holistic (i.e., to build capacity for future implementation efforts). METHODS We conducted individual monthly debriefings over thirty months with facilitators who were supporting PCMHI implementation in two VA networks. We developed a list of facilitation activities based on a literature review and debriefing notes and conducted a content analysis of debriefing notes by coding what activities occurred and their intensity by quarter. We also coded whether facilitators were "doing" these activities for sites or "enabling" sites to perform them. RESULTS Implementation facilitation activities did not occur according to a defined series of ordered steps but in response to specific organizational contexts through a non-linear and incremental process. Amount and types of activities varied between the networks. Concordant with facilitators' planned role, the focus of some facilitation activities was primarily on doing them for the sites and others on enabling sites to do for themselves; a number of activities did not fit into one category and varied across networks. CONCLUSIONS Findings indicate that facilitation is a dynamic and fluid process, with facilitation activities, as well as their timing and intensity, occurring in response to specific organizational contexts. Understanding this process can help those planning and applying implementation facilitation to make conscious choices about the facilitation role and the activities that facilitators can use to operationalize this role. Additionally, this work provides the foundation from which future studies can identify potential mechanisms of action through which facilitation activities enhance implementation uptake.

Abstract
ABSTRACT Healthcare quality can be measured by studying structure, processes, and outcomes. This study examines how trialists capture process outcomes in implementation trials to provide guidance for researchers and health professionals. Electronic databases were searched, and two researchers performed the title, abstract, and full-text selection. Only implementation studies involving nonpharmacological approaches were included. Data were extracted by one reviewer and checked for accuracy and completeness by a second reviewer. Study quality was independently assessed by two reviewers. Of the 3,186 articles screened, 24 studies matched our inclusion criteria. Most studies were cluster randomized control trials, followed by interrupted time series studies and stepped wedge studies. The population in the studies was diverse and settings included hospitals, community centers, residential aged care facilities, and primary care. The reporting of process measures across the included studies varied, and there was limited information about the mechanisms of data collection procedures. Nineteen studies extracted information about processes from electronic medical records, patient records, or chart reviews. The remaining five studies used staff surveys. Challenges remain in the practical aspect of data collection for measuring process outcomes, particularly outside of hospital settings or where processes are hard to capture in patient records.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Coordinators contribute to stroke care quality. Evidence on the scope of practice of coordinator roles for stroke is lacking. We aimed to survey Australian stroke coordinators and describe their responsibilities and characteristics, and compare these based on perceived competency. MATERIALS AND METHODS Online survey of non-physician coordinators with a clinical leadership position for acute stroke in Australian hospitals. Participants were identified from the Stroke Foundation National Audit, and advertising via national associations/networks. Quantitative data were analysed descriptively; characteristics and responsibilities assessed by Benner's self-perceived competency (novice/advanced beginner/competent, proficient or expert). Inductive thematic analysis was used for open-ended responses. RESULTS Results from 105/141 coordinators (103 hospitals, 90% female, 90% registered nurses). Two-thirds developed the role/were self-taught, with 36% using the 'stroke coordinator' title. Perceived competency varied; 22% expert, 40% proficient, and 33% competent. A variety of important clinical tasks, along with leadership/management, education and research responsibilities were described. Most frequently reported clinical responsibility was discharge planning (77%), with patient and staff education (85% and 88%), and data collection (94%) common. Compared to those reporting lesser competency, 'experts' had greater involvement in outpatient clinics (50% vs 14%) and leadership/management responsibilities (e.g. local hospital committees 77% vs 46%). 'Knowledge of evidence' and 'empowering others' were important characteristics to 'expert' coordinators. CONCLUSIONS A contemporary understanding of important responsibilities and characteristics of acute stroke coordinators are provided. Perceived competency affected scope of practice. Structured education, training and role delineation is warranted to improve competency. Career development of stroke coordinators is urgently needed to support optimal role performance.

Abstract
Proctor's Framework for Implementation Research describes the role of implementation strategies and outcomes in the pathway from evidence-based interventions to service and client outcomes. This report describes the evaluation of a learning collaborative to implement a transitional care intervention in skilled nursing facilities (SNF). The collaborative protocol included implementation strategies to promote uptake of a transitional care intervention in SNFs. Using RE-AIM to evaluate outcomes, the main findings were intervention reach to 550 SNF patients, adoption in three of four SNFs that expressed interest in participation, and high fidelity to the implementation strategies. Fidelity to the transitional care intervention was moderate to high; SNF staff provided the five key components of the transitional care intervention for 64-93% of eligible patients. The evaluation was completed during the COVID-19 pandemic, which suggests the protocol was valued by staff and feasible to use amid serious internal and external challenges.

Abstract
Introduction: Adults with exacerbated heart failure (HF) who present to the emergency department (ED) generally are readmitted. However, Hispanic HF patients are more likely to be admitted than Whites. Studies show the importance of nurse-led interventions in the ED discharge process, but registered nurse (RN) confidence in performing discharge tasks has not been assessed. Greater nurse confidence leads to improved task performance, and potentially reduced HF readmission, lowering cost of care. This study aimed to gain insight into ED RNs’ perceived self-confidence in discharge tasks with stabilized HF patients. Method: A self-report survey on perceived self-confidence was analyzed in a prospective, cross-sectional quantitative study. Participants were 22 RNs at an ED in a largely Hispanic community in New York City. Results: Moderate levels of confidence were found for performing various tasks with HF patients. Only 6 of the 21 nurses reported feeling “very confident” about discharge tasks. Twenty (90.1%) believed guidelines would increase their confidence. Conclusion: These findings can help in developing nurse-driven strategies to foster confidence in the discharge of stabilized HF patients from the ED.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Clinicians are important stakeholders in the translation of well-designed research evidence into clinical practice for optimal patient care. However, the application of knowledge translation (KT) theories and processes may present conceptual and practical challenges for clinicians. Online learning platforms are an effective means of delivering KT education, providing an interactive, time-efficient, and affordable alternative to face-to-face education programs. OBJECTIVE This study investigates the availability and accessibility of online KT learning opportunities for health professionals. It also provides an analysis of the types of resources and associated disciplines retrieved by a range of KT synonyms. METHODS We searched a range of bibliographic databases and the Internet (Google advanced option) using 9 KT terms to identify online KT learning resources. To be eligible, resources had to be free, aimed at clinicians, educational in intent, and interactive in design. Each term was searched using two different search engines. The details of the first 100 websites captured per browser (ie, n=200 results per term) were entered into EndNote. Each site was subsequently visited to determine its status as a learning resource. Eligible websites were appraised for quality using the AACODS (Authority, Accuracy, Coverage, Objectivity, Date, Significance) tool. RESULTS We identified 971 unique websites via our multiple search strategies. Of these, 43 were health-related and educational in intent. Once these sites were evaluated for interactivity, a single website matched our inclusion criteria (Dementia Knowledge Translation Learning Centre). CONCLUSIONS KT is an important but complex system of processes. These processes overlap with knowledge, practice, and improvement processes that go by a range of different names. For clinicians to be informed and competent in KT, they require better access to free learning opportunities. These resources should be designed from the viewpoint of the clinician, presenting KT's multifaceted theories and processes in an engaging, interactive way. This learning should empower clinicians to contextualize and apply KT strategies within their own care settings.
