Abstract
Endophytic actinobacteria are a group of bacteria living inside plant tissue without harmful effects, and benefit the host plant. Many can inhibit plant pathogens and promote plant growth. This study aimed to identify a strain of Streptomyces as a novel species and study its antibiotics production. An endophytic actinobacterium, strain TML10T was isolated from a surface-sterilized leaf of a Thai medicinal plant (Terminalia mucronata Craib and Hutch). As a result of a polyphasic taxonomy study, strain TML10T was identified as a member of the genus Streptomyces. Strain TML10T was an aerobic actinobacterium with well-developed substrate mycelia with loop spore chains and spiny surface. Chemotaxonomic data, including cell wall components, major menaquinones, and major fatty acids, confirmed the affiliation of strain TML10T to the genus Streptomyces. The results of the phylogenetic analysis, including physiological and biochemical studies in combination with a genome comparison study, allowed the genotypic and phenotypic differentiation of strain TML10T and the closest related type strains. The digital DNA-DNA hybridization (dDDH), Average nucleotide identity Blast (ANIb), and ANIMummer (ANIm) values between strain TML10T and the closest type strain, Streptomyces musisoli CH5-8T were 38.8%, 88.5%, and 90.8%, respectively. The name proposed for the new species is Streptomyces naphthomycinicus sp. nov. (TML10T = TBRC 15050T = NRRL B-65638T). Strain TML10T was further studied for liquid and solid-state fermentation of antibiotic production. Solid-state fermentation with cooked rice provided the best conditions for antibiotic production against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. The elucidation of the chemical structures from this strain revealed a known antimicrobial agent, naphthomycin A. Mining the genome data of strain TML10T suggested its potential as a producer of antbiotics and other valuable compounds such as ε-Poly-L-lysine (ε-PL) and arginine deiminase. Strain TML10T contains the arcA gene encoding arginine deiminase and could degrade arginine in vitro.

Abstract
The production of beauvericin (BEA) by Fusarium oxysporum AB2 in liquid medium (SmF) was compared to that on solid medium (SSF) on inert support (polyurethane foam or PUF), using a previously optimised medium. The analysis included two different concentrations of the medium (1 × and 3 ×). Under SSF, the production of BEA (22.8 mg·L-1) was higher relative to SmF (0.8 mg·L-1). The production increased proportionally in the concentrated medium (3 ×) (65.3 mg·L-1); using the concentrated medium in SmF, the production of BEA was completely inhibited, although more biomass was produced. The peak of BEA production was reached on day 7 and remained stable until day 11; sustained production after several days has not been achieved in similar reports. The presence of BEA was corroborated by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and mass spectrometry. The BEA production profile is shown performing mixed cultures of Fusarium oxysporum AB2 and Epicoccum nigrum TORT using the same system, increasing the production of BEA up to 84.6 mg·L-1. We propose SSF using polyurethane foam (PUF) as a solid support as a new culture system for obtaining secondary metabolites such as BEA.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Paromomycin is a 2-deoxystreptamine aminocyclitol aminoglycoside antibiotic with broad spectrum activity against Gram-negative, Gram-positive bacteria and many protozoa. This study introduces a strategy for paromomycin production through solid-state fermentation using Streptomyces rimosus subsp. paromomycinus NRRL 2455. Solid state fermentation has gained enormous attention in the development of several products because of their numerous advantages over submerged liquid fermentation. After selecting the best solid substrate, a time course study of paromomycin production was carried out followed by optimization of environmental conditions using response surface methodology. Paromomycin yields obtained using this technique were also compared to those obtained using submerged liquid fermentation. RESULTS Upon screening of 6 different substrates, maximum paromomycin concentration (0.51 mg/g initial dry solids) was obtained with the cost-effective agro-industrial byproduct, corn bran, impregnated with aminoglycoside production media. Optimization of environmental conditions using D-optimal design yielded a 4.3-fold enhancement in paromomycin concentration reaching 2.21 mg/g initial dry solids at a pH of 8.5, inoculum size of 5% v/w and a temperature of 30 °C. CONCLUSION Compared to submerged liquid fermentation, solid state fermentation resulted in comparable paromomycin concentrations, cost reduction of raw materials, less energy consumption and waste water discharge, which have major implications in industrial fermentation. Therefore, solid state fermentation is a promising alternative to submerged liquid fermentation for paromomycin production. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report on the optimized paromomycin production through solid state fermentation process.

Abstract
The food industry generates a large amount of waste every year, which opens up a research field aimed at minimizing and efficiently managing this issue to support the concept of zero waste. From the extraction process of oilseeds results oil cakes. These residues are a source of bioactive compounds (protein, dietary fiber, antioxidants) with beneficial properties for health, that can be used in foods, cosmetics, textile, and pharmaceutical industries. They can also serve as substrates for the production of enzymes, antibiotics, biosurfactants, and mushrooms. Other applications are in animal feedstuff and for composites, bio-fuel, and films production. This review discusses the importance of oilseed and possible valorization methods for the residues obtained in the oil industry.

Abstract
Solid state fermentation is currently used in a range of applications including classical applications, such as enzyme or antibiotic production, recently developed products, such as bioactive compounds and organic acids, new trends regarding bioethanol and biodiesel as sources of alternative energy, and biosurfactant molecules with environmental purposes of valorising unexploited biomass. This work summarizes the diversity of applications of solid state fermentation to valorize biomass regarding alternative energy and environmental purposes. The success of applying solid state fermentation to a specific process is affected by the nature of specific microorganisms and substrates. An exhaustive number of microorganisms able to grow in a solid matrix are presented, including fungus such as Aspergillus or Penicillum for antibiotics, Rhizopus for bioactive compounds, Mortierella for biodiesel to bacteria, Bacillus for biosurfactant production, or yeast for bioethanol.
