Abstract
The objective of this systematic review was to provide a compilation of all the literature available on the association between single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the genes involved in the metabolic pathway of vitamin D and overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). This systematic review was conducted in accordance with the PRISMA guidelines. It included all the literature published up to 1 November 2022 and was carried out in four databases (Medline [PubMed], Scopus, Web of Science, and Embase), using the PICO strategy, with relevant keywords related to the objective. The quality of the studies included was evaluated with an assessment tool derived from the Strengthening the Reporting of Genetic Association Studies (STREGA) statement. Six studies were included in this systematic review. Our findings showed that the BsmI (rs1544410), Cdx-2 (rs11568820), FokI (rs2228570), ApaI (rs7975232), TaqI (rs731236), rs4646536, rs6068816, rs7041, and rs10741657 SNPs in the genes that play a part in vitamin D synthesis (CYP2R1, CYP27B1), transport (GC), and metabolism (CYP24A1), as well as in the vitamin D receptor (VDR), are associated with OS and/or PFS in patients with NSCLC. The SNPs in VDR have been the most extensively analyzed. This systematic review summed up the available evidence concerning the association between 13 SNPs in the main genes involved in the vitamin D metabolic pathway and prognosis in NSCLC. It revealed that SNPs in the VDR, CYP27B1, CYP24A1, GC, and CYP2R1 genes could have an impact on survival in this disease. These findings suggest the identification of prognostic biomarkers in NSCLC patients. However, evidence remains sparse for each of the polymorphisms examined, so these findings should be treated with caution.

Abstract
The aim of this systematic review was to provide a comprehensive overview of the literature published in the last decade on the association of single-nucleotide polymorphisms in genes involved in the pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic pathways of capecitabine with treatment outcomes among colorectal cancer patients. A systematic search of the literature published in the last 10 years was carried out in two databases (Medline and Scopus) using keywords related to the objective. Quality assessment of the studies included was performed using an assessment tool derived from the Strengthening the Reporting of Genetic Association (STREGA) statement. Thirteen studies were included in this systematic review. Genes involved in bioactivation, metabolism, transport, mechanism of action of capecitabine, DNA repair, and folate cycle were associated with toxicity. Meanwhile, genes related to DNA repair were associated with therapy effectiveness. This systematic review reveals that several SNPs other than the four DPYD variants that are screened in clinical practice could have an impact on treatment outcomes. These findings suggest the identification of future predictive biomarkers of effectiveness and toxicity in colorectal cancer patients treated with capecitabine. However, the evidence is sparse and requires further validation.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Pneumoconiosis, encompassing coal workers' pneumoconiosis (CWP), silicosis and asbestosis, is one of the most common occupational diseases in China. Previous studies revealed significant associations between genetic variations and pneumoconiosis risk among individuals in different countries. With the known variability of genetic makeup between ethnicities, susceptibility to pneumoconiosis due to genetic differences is likely to be ethnicity-specific. The present review aimed at providing a comprehensive overview on the association between genetic polymorphisms and susceptibility of pneumoconiosis, specifically among people in China. METHODS The literature search was performed in seven English and Chinese databases using keywords related to the review aim. An appraisal of the methodological quality of the included studies was conducted using the assessment tool derived from the Strengthening the Reporting of Genetic Association Studies (STREGA) statement. RESULTS Forty-five studies were included in this review. Genotypes of specific genes which are associated with the risk of CWP, silicosis and asbestosis were reported. Our findings showed that genes encoding inflammatory cytokines have been examined extensively, and they demonstrated an association between these genes and pneumoconiosis risk. Gene-environment interactions in pneumoconiosis susceptibility were also reported by a number of studies. CONCLUSIONS This review summarised the evidence demonstrating the association between genetic polymorphisms and pneumoconiosis susceptibility among people in China, and that various genotypes could modify their risk to develop pneumoconiosis. The findings prompt that identification of individuals at high pneumoconiosis risk through genetic screening and strategies limiting their exposure to dust could be a potential strategy for the control of this occupational disease in China.

Abstract
Nevoid basal cell carcinoma syndrome (NBCCS) associated odontogenic keratocysts (OKCs) show more aggressive behavior and it has a higher frequency of relapse than non-syndromic OKCs. Stromal myofibroblasts (MFs), characterized by α-smooth muscle actin (αSMA), desmin and caldesmon expression, and metalloproteinases (MMPs) have an essential role in the remodeling of the extracellular matrix (ECM). The aim of the study is to analyze the immunohistochemical expression of MMP-7, MMP-9, αSMA and other new markers in the study of OKCs MFs such as desmin and caldesmon in NBCCS-associated OKCs compared to recurrent and sporadic keratocysts. Fourty 40 patients (23 M and 17 F) underwent surgery to remove the OKCs. The histological sections in paraffin were incubated with markers antibodies and a semi-quantitative score was used to evaluate the immunoreactivity. Densitometric analysis showed a very significantly increased expression of αSMA, caldesmon, MMP-7 and MMP-9 in NBCCS-OKCs compared to non-syndromic OKCs (p < 0.001). However, desmin showed a not significant increased expression in non-syndromic OKC compared to NBCCS-OKCs specimens in which desmin was slightly or not at all expressed. NBCSS-OKCs showed a greater distribution of MFs compared to the other OKCs subtypes. Further studies will be needed to evaluate whether the different expressions of these markers can be correlated to a different clinical behavior.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE FOXP3 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were recently elucidated to influence the development of preeclampsia (PE), but the results on this issue still remained controversial. Thus, a meta-analysis was implemented to systematically investigate the roles of FOXP3 SNPs in PE. METHODS Eligible publications were identified by retrieving relevant electronic databases. Meanwhile, the association intensity was estimated by calculating odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) in various genetic models. RESULTS Totally eight investigations involving 3446 subjects were enrolled in the final meta-analysis. The AC and AC + CC genotypes of FOXP3 rs3761548 were related to the susceptibility of PE in over-dominant (OR = 1.19, 95%CI = 1.02-1.38, P = 0.03) and recessive (OR = 0.59, 95% CI: 0.36-0.97, P = 0.04) models. Furthermore, correlation between rs2232365 and PE was observed in recessive model (GG vs. GA + AA) (OR = 0.79, 95%CI: 0.65-0.97, P = 0.03). Moreover, rs2232365 GA and GG + GA genotypes were associated with the severity of PE. However, rs4824747, rs3761547 and rs2280883 polymorphisms had no significant impact on PE susceptibility. CONCLUSIONS FOXP3 rs3761548 and rs2232365 SNPs influenced the PE susceptibility and therefore may be potential biomarkers for prediction of PE risk.
