Abstract
Fatty acid amides (FAAs) are endogenous lipid molecules that exhibit various physiological activities. FAAs are usually present at nanomolar levels in biological samples. In this study, a method for the qualitative and quantitative determination of six FAAs (linoleamide, linoleoyl ethanolamide, oleoyl ethanolamide, palmitic amide, oleamide, and octadecanamide) in edible vegetable oils was established. All six FAAs were detected in sesame, peanut, soybean (decolorized and non-decolorized), and blended oils; five in sunflower oil; four in rice oil; three in linseed and olive oils; and two in corn and canola oils. The total contents of FAAs were highest in sesame oil (104.88 ± 3.01 μg/mL), followed by peanut oil (34.96 ± 3.87 μg/mL), soybean oil (16.75 ± 1.27 μg/mL), and blended oil (13.33 ± 0.77 μg/mL), and the contents in the other edible vegetable oils were all <1.03 μg/mL. The concentrations of linoleoyl ethanolamide and oleoyl ethanolamide were highest in non-decolorized soybean oil, while the other four FAAs (linoleamide, palmitic amide, oleamide, and octadecanamide) showed the highest concentrations in sesame oil. The total contents of these FAAs in eight different oils were higher than those in biological fluids and tissue. Our study confirmed that edible vegetable oils are rich in FAAs, and provides reliable data for evaluating the nutritive value of vegetable oils.

Abstract
This study evaluated the adverse effects of low-dose imidacloprid (IMI) on the characteristics of sperm from male Wistar rats. Thirty mature male rats were equally divided into three groups and orally administered vehicle (Control Group), acceptable daily intake (ADI) concentration of IMI (Group 1), and IMI at a dose 10-fold that of the ADI (Group 2) for 90 days. The findings revealed that IMI caused abnormalities in sperm concentrations and morphologies, accompanied by an imbalance of the gonadal hormone testosterone. Histopathological damage and decrease of testosterone levels were observed in testes from rats treated with IMI. However, estradiol and gonadotropin levels were unchanged after IMI treatment. IMI inhibited the activity of cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) and left itself existed in the organism of rats. The indicators relating to sperms and CYP3A4 activity were recovered when rats were co-treated with IMI and CYP3A4 inducer rifampicin together. These results indicated that low-dose IMI exposure caused sperm abnormalities through affecting on the spermiogenesis in testis. Inhibition of CYP3A4 activity by IMI largely contributed to its sperm toxicity. Thus, IMI exposure at doses close to real-world settings resulted in sperm toxicity on rats, which might be a potential risk factor for human reproductive diseases.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Lycopene as a naturally occurring carotenoid is a common part of the human diet. Several beneficial properties of lycopene have been identified, with the most studied being anti-cancer and antioxidant activity. However, no evidence of possible drug-drug or drug-food supplement interactions has been found. METHODS We studied the in vivo effect of lycopene on the selected rat liver cytochromes P450 (CYPs): CYP1A2, CYP2B, CYP2C11, CYP2C6, CYP2D, and CYP3A. Lycopene was administered to rats intragastrically at doses of 4, 20, and 100 mg/kg/day for 10 consecutive days. Total protein content, P450 Content, and metabolic activity of selected CYPs were evaluated in the rat liver microsomal fraction. RESULTS Increased CYP2B, CYP2D, and CYP3A metabolic activities were observed in animals treated with the lycopene dose of 100 mg/kg/day. The content of CYP3A1 protein was increased by the dose of 100 mg/kg/day and CYP3A2 protein was increased by all administered doses of lycopene. CONCLUSION The results of our study indicate that lycopene increased the metabolic activity of enzymes that are orthologues to the most clinically important human enzymes involved in xenobiotic metabolism. The risk of pharmacokinetic interactions between lycopene dietary supplements and co-administered drugs should be evaluated.

Abstract
Harmine (HAR) is a beta-carboline alkaloid widely distributed in nature. It exhibits psychopharmacological effects of improving learning and memory. However, excessive dose of HAR can cause central tremor toxicity, which may be related to the glutamate system. Memantine (MEM) is a non-competitive N-methyl-d-aspartate receptor antagonist. It can be used for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease and also can block the neurotoxicity caused by glutamate. Therefore, combination of HAR and MEM would be meaningful and the pharmacokinetics investigation of HAR and MEM in combination is necessary. A ultra-performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) method was established and validated for the simultaneous quantitative determination of MEM, HAR and harmol (HOL), a main metabolite of HAR, in rat plasma after oral administration of HAR and MEM in combination (5.0 mg/kg of MEM combined with 20.0, 40.0, 80.0 mg/kg of HAR). The contents of HAR and HOL were determined after oral administration of HAR (20.0, 40.0 and 80.0 mg/kg), and the content of MEM was determined after oral administration of MEM (5.0 mg/kg). Blood samples were collected from each rat at 0 (pre-dose), 0.08, 0.17, 0.25, 0.33, 0.50, 0.75, 1.0, 2.0, 4.0, 8.0, 12.0 and 24.0 h after administration. The maximum peak concentration (Cmax) of MEM was obviously decreased, and the area under the plasma concentration versus time curve from zero to time t (AUC(0-t)) and mean residence time (MRT) were significantly increased after combination with HAR. The Cmax and AUC(0-t) of HAR and its metabolite HOL were increased after combination with MEM. These findings suggested that co-administration of HAR and MEM could extend their residence time in rats, and then might increase the efficacy for treatment of Alzheimer's disease. Therefore, this study will provide a basis for the rational combined application of HAR and MEM.
