Abstract
A series of porphyrins with directly meso-attached “sucrose” moiety by the carbon C-6′ of its “fructose” end was synthesized, and their physico-chemical and aggregation properties studied by spectroscopic (fluorescence, circular dichroism, resonance light scattering) techniques. The effect of selected porphyrins on tumor cells was also evaluated.

Abstract
In the last few years, considerable progress has been made in the synthesis of C-glycosides. Despite its challenging chemistry, due to its versatility, C-glycosides play a pivotal role in developing novel materials, surfactants and bioactive molecules. In this review, we present snapshots of various synthetic methodologies developed for C-glycosides in the recent years and the potential application of C-glycosides derived from β-C-glycosidic ketones.

Abstract
New types of steroid-porphyrin conjugates derived from 20-hydroxyecdysone (20E) and 24-epibrassinolide (EBl) were synthesized. An exceptional regioselectivity in the reaction of both steroids with porphyrin boronic acids was found to give side-chain-conjugated boronic esters as sole products. UV-Vis-, fluorescence and NMR spectroscopy yielded similar data for all the studied compounds confirming the solvent driven supramolecular assembly with formation of J-aggregates. CD measurements of water diluted solutions showed a clear difference between 20E and EBl conjugates. The latter showed a strong supramolecular chirality, whereas 20E J-aggregates did not.

Abstract
New cholic acid based calix[4]pyrroles and porphyrins were prepared and their properties were studied. It was confirmed by spectral measurements that the superassembly of 5,15-bis(3α,7α,12α-trihydroxy-5β-cholan-24-yl)-10,20-diphenylporphyrin, the best candidate for this study from the conjugates prepared, may be influenced not only by the solvent mixture composition (polar/non-polar component ratio) but by time as well.

Abstract
New types of porphyrin derivatives bearing "C-glycoside" moieties, either in 5,10,15,20- or in 5,15-meso-positions, were prepared and fully characterized. The presence of the glycosidic groups imparts to the title macrocycles, besides an amphiphilic character, a clear tendency to form chiral suprastructures upon solvent-driven self-aggregation in different aqueous-organic solvent mixtures. Supra-assembly phenomena, in terms of the size and morphology of the resulting structures, as well as their kinetics of aggregation, were studied by UV-visible, fluorescence, resonance light scattering (RLS), and CD spectroscopy, indicating that the morphology of the aggregates depends strongly on the structure of the porphyrin rings, and on the bulk conditions of aggregation.
