Abstract
The immobilization of bovine serum albumin (BSA), homocysteine-thiolactone (HTL) andN-homocysteinylated BSA (N-Hcy-BSA) onto the surface of each PGE was performed by passive adsorption and the electrochemical detection of these components was investigated individually.

Abstract
This study was aimed at verifying the hypothesis that acute kidney failure accompanying cisplatin administration in the cancer therapy could be due to cisplatin interaction with the cytoplasmic part of Na(+)/K(+)-ATPase. Our results demonstrated that cisplatin-binding caused inhibition of Na(+)/K(+)-ATPase, in contrast to other platinated chemotherapeutics such as carboplatin and oxaliplatin, which are known to be much less nephrotoxic. To acquire more detailed structural information, we performed a series of experiments with the isolated large cytoplasmic segment connecting transmembrane helices 4 and 5 (C45 loop) of Na(+)/K(+)-ATPase. Electrochemistry showed that cisplatin is bound to the cysteine residues of the C45 loop, mass spectrometry revealed a modification of the C45 peptide fragment GSHMASLEAVETLGSTSTICSDK, which contains the conserved phosphorylated residue Asp369. Hence, we hypothesize that binding of cisplatin to Cys367 can cause sterical obstruction during the phosphorylation or dephosphorylation step of the Na(+)/K(+)-ATPase catalytic cycle.

Abstract
First papers on electroactivity of DNA and RNA were published more then 50 years ago. For about 8 years oscillographic polarography at controlled a.c. (OP, proposed by J. Heyrovský already in 1941) was the method of choice for DNA analysis. Since approximately 1954 Robert Kalvoda developed OP for wide application in various fields. It is shown that already before 1960 it was possible to detect damage to DNA in X-ray-irradiated rats by means of OP. DNA samples from irradiated animals produced significantly larger OP anodic guanine signal indicating changes in the DNA structure. At present, radiation-induced strand breaks and damage to bases in DNA can be electrochemically detected at high sensitivity.

Abstract
The method for monitoring of Glyphosate (GP) in soil samples containing different organic matter content based on differential pulse voltammetry at a hanging mercury drop electrode was developed to reach higher sample preparation efficiency, its repeatability and sufficient limits of detection. The soil samples with three different organic matter contents (evaluated as total organic carbon contents 30.7, 13.0 and 6.3 g kg–1) were tested. The decreasing content of organic matter resulted in a decreasing recoveries (86, 78 and 68%, respectively), with RSD around 10%. The GP derivatised to N-nitrosoglyphosate (NO-GP) can be determined using the adopted method with limits of detection around 2 ppm in the soil samples. This method might be further utilized for routine monitoring of the GP in soil samples during investigation of its effect on the soil biota.

Abstract
We apply the ex situ and in situ atomic force microscopy (AFM) nanoshaving technique to investigate the bovine serum albumin (BSA) films on Au(111) and highly oriented pyrolytic graphite (HOPG) surfaces. The both substrates were found to support the BSA films. The section analysis performed before and after the AFM nanoshaving allowed the determination of the film thickness. On Au(111) surface, both ex situ and in situ nanoshaving revealed that the film is formed by strongly denatured BSA molecules, with the average thickness 2.3 ± 0.2 and 2.0 ± 0.2 nm, respectively. On the other hand, the HOPG substrate was found to support less denatured BSA films, with the average film thickness 4.7 ± 0.3 and 5.2 ± 0.3 nm, based on the ex situ and in situ measurements, respectively.
