Abstract
La protein is significantly expressed in various malignant tumors, including ovarian cancer (OC), which is related to the poor response to platinum-based chemotherapy. Thus, inhibiting La protein could control the expression of the potential downstream genes involved in promoting proliferation and chemotherapy resistance to OC, which could serve as a therapeutic intervention. Through a molecular docking approach, 12 compounds from Morchella esculenta were screened against the crystal structure of La protein and four hit compounds were identified, including beta-carotene, p-hydroxybenzoic acid, gamma-tocopherol, and alpha-tocopherol, with a binding affinity of - 10.7, - 8.1, - 7.9, and - 7.6 kcal/mol, respectively, higher than pyridine-2-carboxylate (control), with a binding affinity of - 5.2 kcal/mol. To explore the interaction of the hit compounds with the target receptor, they were selected for a molecular dynamic simulation and post-simulation analysis for 100 ns. The result showed promising reliability of the ligands due to a stable interaction with the La protein crystal structure. Furthermore, the drug-likeness and physicochemical chemical properties of the compounds were investigated using ADMET study and density functional theory analysis, respectively, and the result shows that the hit compounds could serve as a promising starting for the development of novel LA protein inhibitors for OC therapeutics. Finally, this study compared HOMO and LUMO values from global hybrids with long-range corrected DFAs, and the result from the two followed the same qualitative pattern while calculating HOMO values; however, MO62X/cc-pVTZ could better predict LUMO values when considering a global hybrid.

Abstract
We have explored detailed linear and nonlinear optical properties of push-pull systems bearing thienothiophene and dithienothiophene spacers. By using density functional theory (DFT), frequency-dependent strategies were applied to examine the polarizability ([Formula: see text] and hyperpolarizability ([Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text]. The set of global and range-separated hybrid functionals with different Hartree–Fock (HF) exchange percentage at two basis sets cc-pVDZ and cc-pVTZ were used to evaluate the nonlinear optical (NLO) properties. The observed trends in the absorption maxima supported by perturbation potential analysis; as the absorption maxima increases, the respective amplitude potential decreases. For the investigated compounds, [Formula: see text]-conjugation along with the type of substituted acceptor plays a crucial role in the enhancement of NLO properties. The presence of acceptor group and length of conjugation increase between the D and A group; the first- and second-order intrinsic hyperpolarizability increases, leads to enhanced first- as well as second-order hyperpolarizability. Bond length alternation (BLA)/bond order alteration (BOA) exploration suggested that compounds attain cyanine limit. The trends in NLO properties for investigated compounds are supported by chemical reactivity descriptors, hardness and hyperhardness analysis. The polarizability is linearly correlated with the hyperpolarizability parameters ([Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] and shows a good regression coefficient by figures of merit analysis.

Abstract
The electronic structures and spectroscopic properties of triphenylamine-based monostyryl and bis(styryl) dyes were studied using quantum chemical methods. The ground-state geometries of these dyes were optimized using the density functional theory (DFT) method. The lowest singlet excited state was optimized using time-dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT). The absorption was also calculated using the ground-state geometries. All the calculations were carried out in the gas phase and in solvent. The results indicate that the absorption maxima calculated using the TD-DFT are in good agreement with those obtained experimentally. These dyes possess a large second-order non-linear property and this is mainly due to the strong donor-π-acceptor conjugation which is attributed to the excited state intramolecular charge transfer (ICT). There is a relationship between the hardness and first hyperpolarizability and second hyperpolarizability of mono- and bis(styryl) dyes. The efficiency of the intersystem crossing process can be improved by reducing the energy gap between the singlet and triplet excited states.

Abstract
Present theoretical study involves the delta shape complexes of beryllium, magnesium, and calcium where the metal atom interacts perpendicularly with disubstituted acetylene. Most of the complexes are found to be fairly stable. The dependence of second-hyperpolarizability on the basis set with increasing polarization and diffuse functions has been examined which showed the importance of 'f-type' type polarization function for heavy metal (Mg, Ca) and 'd-type' polarization function for beryllium. Larger second hyperpolarizability has been predicted for complexes having significant ground state polarization and low lying excited states favoring strong electronic coupling. Transition energy plays the most significant role in modulating the second hyperpolarizability.

Abstract
Multimetallocene complexes ( Cp – M n– Cp ) of Be , Mg and Ca have been considered for the theoretical study of static second hyperpolarizability using a number of DFT functionals. Owing to the cooperative effect in bonding, beryllium forms multiberyllocene complexes ( Cp – Be n– Cp ) which have sufficient thermal stability with respect to dissociation into neutral fragments up to n = 10. On the other hand, multimetallocene complexes of Mg and Ca are found to be stable for n ≤ 5 which may be due to the weaker covalent bonding interaction between the larger metal atoms. The rather small variation of linear and cubic polarizabilities of Cp – Be n– Cp complexes beyond n = 5 arises from the rather weaker charge transfer transitions. The difference in NLO property among the investigated metal complexes arises from the extent of charge transfer from the terminal metal atoms and the distance between them. The charge transfer at longer distances in the ground state of Mg and Ca complexes leads to more intense electronic transition — the spectroscopic parameters of which strongly favors the enhancement of second hyperpolarizability.

Abstract
A number of Λ shaped complexes of alkaline earth metals Be , Mg and Ca with varying terminal groups have been considered for the theoretical study of their second hyperpolarizability. The chosen complexes are found to be sufficiently stable and for a chosen ligand the stability decreases in the order: Be -complex > Ca -complex > Mg -complex. The calculated results of second hyperpolarizability obtained at different DFT functionals for the 6-311++G(d,p) basis set are found to be fairly consistent. The Λ shaped ligands upon complex formation with metals lead to strong enhancement of second hyperpolarizability. The highest magnitude of cubic polarizability has been predicted for the metal complex having > C ( C 2 H 5)2 group. For a chosen ligand, the magnitude of second hyperpolarizability increases in the order Be -complex < Mg -complex < Ca -complex which is the order of increasing size and electropositive character of the metal. The variation of second hyperpolarizability among the investigated metal complexes has been explained in terms of the transition energy and transition moment associated with the most intense electronic transition.

Abstract
Six pyridyne isomers and their complexes with beryllium have been considered for the theoretical study of the third-order polarizability. The NLO properties are calculated by employing the DFT functionals BLYP, B3LYP, BHHLYP, B3PW91, BP86 and B2PLYP for the 6-311++G(d,p) basis set. The C - Be bond length in the complexes varies within 1.644 Å–1.771 Å indicating covalent interactions between the metal and pyridynes. The present investigation reveals that the magnitude of second-hyperpolarizability of pyridynes strongly enhances upon complex formation with beryllium. The maximum hyperpolarizability has been predicted for the 2,5-diberyllium pyridine complex. The lowest value of hyperpolarizability is obtained for the 2,3- and 3,4-diberyllium pyridine complexes. The chosen DFT methods predict almost identical pattern of variation of NLO property. The variation of second-hyperpolarizability has been satisfactorily explained by the excitation energy and transition dipole moment associated with the most dominant excited state.

Abstract
The structural stabilities and electronic properties of singlet and triplet states C 24X12 heterofullerenes where X = B , Al , C , Si , N , and P are probed at the B3LYP/6-31+G* level of theory. Vibrational frequency calculations show that all of the systems are true minima. The calculated binding energies of heterofullerenes show C 24 B 12 and C 24 N 12 as the most stable heterofullerenes by 6.10 eV/atom and 5.63 eV/atom, respectively. While B , Al , N and P doping increase the conductivity of fullerene through decreasing its HOMO–LUMO gap, doping Si enhance its stability against electronic excitations via increasing the HOMO–LUMO gap. High charge transfer on the surfaces of our stable heterofullerenes, especially C 24 Al 12 followed by C 24 Si 12 and C 24 P 12, provokes further investigations on their possible application for hydrogen storage.

Abstract
Beryllium forms stable sandwich and inverse sandwich complexes with the cyclobutadiene molecule. Two types of multidecker complexes are designed. Multidecker inverse sandwiches are found to be thermally more stable than the corresponding sandwich complexes. The average distance between two consecutive metals and the two consecutive cyclobutadiene rings increase gradually on increasing size of the chosen inverse sandwich complexes. The density functional theory functionals B3LYP, BHHLYP, BLYP, M06, CAM-B3LYP, and B2PLYP in conjunction with the 6-311++G (d, p) basis set have been employed for calculating the third-order electric response properties of the chosen beryllium-cyclobutadiene complexes and the results obtained for each functional are found to have a consistent trend. Compared to the normal sandwich compounds the second-hyperpolarizability of inverse sandwiches is predicated to be larger, which fairly correlates with the extent of ground-state polarization. The significant enhancement of cubic polarizability of higher-order multidecker inverse sandwiches arises from the strong coupling between the ground and the low lying charge transfer excited states. The rather strong enhancement of second-hyperpolarizability on increasing size of the beryllium-multidecker inverse sandwiches may provide a new route to design efficient nonlinear optical materials.

Abstract
Some selected acceptor-Be hydrocarbon complexes have been considered for evaluation of second hyperpolarizability at different DFT functional. All the complexes have been found thermally stable and there is a significant increase of second hyperpolarizability compared to the ligands. Second hyperpolarizability has been explained in terms of charge transfer interaction. Co-operative interaction is required for maximization of second hyperpolarizability. Localized charge transfer in the vicinity of metal alone cannot increase second hyperpolarizability while charge delocalization over entire molecule is mandatory. Substitution by more electropositive metals e.g. Mg , Ca have greater enhancement in longitudinal component of γ. Basis set 6-311++G** is reasonable with respect to computational cost at aug-cc-pVnZ's (n = D, T, Q) for evaluation of second hyperpolarizability for the present complexes.

Abstract
The molecular geometry optimization, vibrational frequencies and gauge including atomic orbital (GIAO) 1H and 13C chemical shift values of thiazolylazopyrimidine chromophores have been investigated by using density functional theories (DFT/B3LYP, PBE1PBE and BHand-HLYP) and Hartree–Fock (HF) methods with 6–31++G(d,p) basis set. The computed IR and NMR spectra are used to determine the types of the experimental bands observed. Also, the vibrational frequencies are supported on the basis of the potential energy distribution (PED) analysis calculated by using PBE1PBE method. The UV-vis spectrum has been obtained by TD-DFT and TD-HF methods. Total static dipole moment (μ), the mean polarizability (〈α〉), the anisotropy of the polarizability (Δα), the mean first-order hyperpolarizability (〈β〉), highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO), and lowest occupied molecular orbital (LUMO) energies of thiazolylazopyrimidine chromophores also have been investigated with quantum chemical calculations. Obtained nonlinear optical (NLO) parameters are compared with experimental ones. Additionally, the molecular hardness (η) and electronegativity (χ) parameters have been obtained by using the frontier molecular orbital energies. Obtained data from thiazolylazopyrimidine chromophores are important for associating the experimental and theoretical spectra with molecular structure and their properties.
