Abstract
Neuroepithelial tumors known as ependymomas can develop from cortical rests, the central canal of the spinal cord, or the ependymal cells of the cerebral ventricles. Ependymomas may arise anywhere along the neuraxis. Here, we present a 40-year-old male, a known case of grade II ependymomas, with a chief complaint of bilateral lower limb weakness and loss of sensation in the bilateral lower limb for 20 days. He started facing difficulties in performing activities such as walking, toileting activities, and squatting activities. The physiotherapy (PT) rehabilitation of the patient was tailored to achieve functional independence of the patient. The treatment session lasted for six weeks. Several outcome indicators were employed to evaluate our patient's progress toward functional recovery. Outcomes are measured using the Tone Grading Scale (TGS), the American Spinal Injury Association (ASIA) Impairment Scale, the World Health Organization Quality of Life (WHOQOL), manual muscle test, and the Barthel Index. Outcome measures were assessed on day one of treatment and the last day of the PT treatment. The patient's preliminary involvement in PT supported him to prevent serious complications like joint contractures and bed sores. Physical therapy is one of the most important parts of the rehabilitation practice for spinal cord injury (SCI) patients.

Abstract
PURPOSE Intracranial collision tumor is a rare entity that represents the coexistence of two histopathological different tumor types in the same area without histological admixture or an intermediate cell population zone. So far, several cases of collision tumors with ganglioglioma as its component have been reported in the literature, while supratentorial ependymoma has never been reported as a collision tumor component. We are presenting a unique case of collision tumor in patient without previous history of head trauma, neurological surgery, radiotherapy, or phakomatosis. METHODS AND RESULTS A 17-year-old male with no previous history of head trauma, neurological surgery, radiotherapy, or phakomatosis was presented to our clinic with grand mal seizure. Brain magnetic resonance imaging with gadolinium contrast was done revealing a contrast-enhancing lesion of right frontal lobe closely related to dura, surrounded by perifocal edema. The patient underwent a gross total tumor resection. Histological examination revealed collision tumor with two distinct components: ganglioglioma and supratentorial ependymoma. CONCLUSION To our best knowledge, no previous reports of collision tumor composed of ganglioglioma and supratentorial ependymoma in a single patient have been reported. We believe that this report could significantly contribute to further surgical practice as well as to treatment decision for these types of collision tumors.

Abstract
Intramedullary astrocytomas (IMAs) consist of a heterogeneous group of rare central nervous system (CNS) tumors associated with variable outcomes. A DNA methylation-based classification approach has recently emerged as a powerful tool to further classify CNS tumors. However, no DNA methylation-related studies specifically addressing to IMAs have been performed yet. In the present study, we analyzed 16 IMA samples subjected to morphological and molecular analyses, including DNA methylation profiling. Among the 16 samples, only 3 cases were classified in a reference methylation class (MC) with the recommended calibrated score (≥0.9). The remaining cases were either considered “no-match” cases (calibrated score <0.3, n = 7) or were classified with low calibrated scores (ranging from 0.32 to 0.53, n = 6), including inconsistent classification. To obtain a more comprehensive tool for pathologists, we used different unsupervised analyses of DNA methylation profiles, including our data and those from the Heidelberg reference cohort. Even though our cohort included only 16 cases, hypotheses regarding IMA-specific classification were underlined; a potential specific MC of PA_SPINE was identified and high-grade IMAs, probably consisting of H3K27M wild-type IMAs, were mainly associated with ANA_PA MC. These hypotheses strongly suggest that a specific classification for IMAs has to be investigated.

Abstract
Background and importance: Ependymomas are tumours arising from the ependymal cells lining the ventricles and the central canal of the spinal cord. They represent the most common intramedullary spinal cord tumour in adults and are very rarely encountered in an extramedullary location. Only 40 cases of intradural extramedullary (IDEM) ependymomas have been reported, all of which were diagnosed pre-operatively as IDEM ependymomas on contrast-enhanced MRI. Clinical presentation: We report a 23-year old male presenting with rapidly worsening signs and symptoms of spinal cord disease. A spinal MRI demonstrated a posterior multi-cystic dilatation extended between T1 and T12. Post-contrast sequences showed peri-medullar leptomeningeal enhancement and the diagnosis of spinal arachnoiditis was made. The patient underwent surgery and the spinal cord appeared circumferentially wrapped by an irregular soft tissue. The tissue was sub-totally removed and the pathological diagnosis was ependymoma WHO grade II. The patient experienced an excellent neurological recovery and no further treatments were administered. A small residue is now stable at 2.5 years follow-up. Conclusions: Giant IDEM ependymomas are rare entities and pre-operative diagnosis can be challenging in some cases. Surgery represents the main treatment option being resolutive in most cases.

Abstract
UNLABELLED Ependymoma is a central nervous system tumor that grows from ependymal cells lining the cerebral ventricles, central canal of the spinal cord, and filum terminale. Regardless of the histological type of ependymomas, they rarely have exophytic growth. Because of an extremely low occurrence rate of this phenomenon, we present two clinical cases of patients with classical intramedullary ependymomas (Grade II) having an extramedullary component. MATERIAL AND METHODS The paper presents two clinical cases of patients with intramedullary-extramedullary ependymomas of the spinal cord. The surgical technique is described. After surgical treatment, the performance status of patients remained unchanged. CONCLUSION Radical removal of complex ependymomas provides conditions for long-term disease-free survival and further neurological recovery.
