Abstract
PURPOSE The exit points of the supraorbital nerve and its branches hold significant importance in various medical procedures, including supraorbital endoscopic surgeries, forehead-facial aesthetic plastic surgeries, medical aesthetic applications and maxillofacial surgeries. Therefore, the primary objective of the present study was to precisely define the dimension, location and clinical significance of the supraorbital foramen/notch. By doing so, we aimed to enhance our understanding of this anatomical structure and its implications for surgical and aesthetic interventions in the supraorbital region. METHODS For our study, we conducted anatomical dissections and bone measurements to assess the significance of anatomical variations of the supraorbital foramen/notch. We utilized a sample consisting of 28 cadavers and 38 skulls. The supraorbital foramen/notch was bilaterally analyzed in all 28 cadavers and 38 dry bones. We morphometrically analyzed the distance between the supraorbital foramen/notch and various anatomical landmarks, including the nasion, supraorbital margin, infraorbital margin, temporal crest, glabella, frontal cavity and midline of the face. Additionally, we measured the distance between the supraorbital foramen/notches and the frontal foramen/notches, and the width of the supraorbital foramen/notch and the distance between both supraorbital foramina/notches. RESULTS There are 32 (57.14%) supraorbital foramina, and the remaining are 24 (42.86%) supraorbital notches in cadavers and there are 36 (47.37%) supraorbital foramina, and the remaining are 40 (52.63%) supraorbital notches in skulls. We observed consistency in the dimension and location values of anatomical measurement parameters between cadavers and dry skulls on both right and left sides, with the exception of the parameter "distance from temporal crest" (p=0.042). Furthermore, our correlation analysis revealed a significant positive relationship between the right and left sides across all parameters, except for the following instances: in dry skulls, "distance from supraorbital margin" and in cadaver parameters, "distance from temporal crest, " "distance from frontal cavity" and "width." CONCLUSION In our study, we observed that the distributions of supraorbital foramina and notches were nearly similar. Furthermore, our findings indicated comparable measurements between the right and left sides in both cadavers and skulls. These results suggest a degree of consistency in supraorbital anatomy within our study sample, regardless of the specimen type (cadavers or skulls) or laterality (right or left side). Abstract
INTRODUCTION Trigeminal herpes zoster, which comprises 10% to 20% of cases of herpes zoster, often leads to severe pain in the ophthalmic branches. Current treatments, including drug therapy and minimally invasive interventions, have limitations; accordingly, there is a need to explore alternative approaches. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of computerized tomography (CT)-guided pulsed radiofrequency of the sphenopalatine ganglion in patients with intractable trigeminal herpetic pain. PATIENT CONCERNS Three patients with intractable trigeminal ophthalmic zoster neuralgia were studied. All patients complained of bursts of headache, which occurred at least 10 times a day, usually in the periorbital and frontal regions. Conventional treatments, including oral medications and radiofrequency therapy targeting the trigeminal-semilunar ganglion and supraorbital nerve, could not sufficiently provide relief. DIAGNOSIS Two patients were diagnosed with herpes zoster in the ocular branch of the trigeminal nerve with conjunctivitis, while one patient was diagnosed with postherpetic neuralgia in the ocular branch of the trigeminal nerve. INTERVENTIONS This study employed a novel approach that involved CT-guided radiofrequency regulation of the pterygopalatine fossa sphenopalatine ganglion. OUTCOMES In all three patients, pain relief was achieved within 1 to 3 days after treatment. During the follow-up, one patient had pain recurrence; however, its severity was ≈ 40% lower than the pretreatment pain severity. The second patient had sustained and effective pain relief. However, the pain of the third patient worsened again after 2 months. The average follow-up duration was 3 months. None of the enrolled patients showed treatment-related adverse reactions or complications. CONCLUSION Our findings indicated that CT-guided radiofrequency regulation of the pterygopalatine fossa sphenopalatine ganglion was a safe and effective intervention for pain in patients with trigeminal ophthalmic zoster neuralgia, suggesting that it may be a therapeutic option if other treatments fail.

Abstract
PURPOSE The aim of this study was to investigate the success rate of surgical technique and associated risk factors based on the follow-up of patients who underwent CT-guided percutaneous radiofrequency sympathectomy (RFS) to treat primary hyperhidrosis (PH). METHODS 370 patients who underwent RFS for PH treatment between January 2018 and April 2022 were enrolled. Patients responded to a questionnaire and telephone follow-up on the effects of treatment and their electronic medical records and imaging findings were reviewed. Logistic regression was performed to identify risk factors related to the success rate of surgical technique. RESULTS A temperature difference ≥2 °C before and after procedure was defined as a successful surgical technique. Among the 370 patients (740 sides), 637 sides had successful RFS, and the technical success rate was 86.1 %. Immediately after procedure, 636 sides (85.9 %) were completely dry, 64 (8.7 %) were partially dry, and 40 (5.4 %) were still wet. During the longest follow-up period (54 months), 103 patients relapsed. The median hyperhidrosis disease severity scale score on both sides decreased from 4 to 1 after RFS. According to logistic regression analysis, only the pre-post pulse index was associated with the success rate of surgical technique (odds ratio, 1.14; 95 % confidence interval, 1.06-1.23; p = 0.0004). CONCLUSIONS We observed that the immediate efficiency and success rate of surgical technique after RFS for PH treatment were relatively high, although there is a possibility of recurrence in the long term. In general, RFS is a safe and effective procedure for alleviating the symptoms of patients with hyperhidrosis.

Abstract
Trigeminal neuralgia (TN) is a unilateral disorder characterized by electric shock-like pain, abrupt onset and termination, and limited to one or more branches of the trigeminal nerve. Various therapeutic modalities for TN have been introduced. We searched for literature indexed in PubMed, Medline, and the National Library of Medicine and reviewed all relevant articles on non-surgical treatments for TN. Published studies were reviewed with no restrictions on date; reviews, clinical trials, animal studies, retrospective studies, and cases were included. Carbamazepine and oxcarbazepine are the recommended first-line pharmacotherapies. Interventional treatments should be considered when pharmacotherapy is insufficient or withdrawn because of adverse effects.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Trigeminal neuralgia is a common condition that is associated with severe pain, which seriously affects the quality of life of patients. When the efficacy of drugs is not satisfactory or adverse drug reactions cannot be tolerated, minimally invasive interventional therapy has become an important treatment because of its simple operation, low risk, high repeatability and low cost. In recent years, minimally invasive interventional treatments, such as radiofrequency thermocoagulation (RF) of the trigeminal nerve and percutaneous microcompression (PMC), have been widely used in the clinic to relieve severe pain in many patients, however, some related problems remain to be addressed. The Pain Association of the Chinese Medical Association organizes and compiles the consensus of Chinese experts to standardize the development of minimally invasive interventional treatment of trigeminal neuralgia to provide a basis for its clinical promotion and application. MATERIALS AND METHODS The Pain Association of the Chinese Medical Association organizes the Chinese experts to compile a consensus. With reference to the evidence-based medicine (OCEBM) system and the actual situation of the profession, the Consensus Development Committee adopts the nominal group method to adjust the recommended level. RESULTS Precise imaging positioning and guidance are the keys to ensuring the efficacy and safety of the procedures. RF and PMC are the most widely performed and effective treatments among minimally invasive interventional treatments for trigeminal neuralgia. CONCLUSIONS The pain degree of trigeminal neuralgia is severe, and a variety of minimally invasive intervention methods can effectively improve symptoms. Radiofrequency and percutaneous microcompression may be the first choice for minimally invasive interventional therapy.

Abstract
The objective of the current research work is to study the differences between the predicted ablation volume in homogeneous and heterogeneous models of typical radiofrequency (RF) procedures for pain relief. A three-dimensional computational domain comprising of the realistic anatomy of the target tissue was considered in the present study. A comparative analysis was conducted for three different scenarios: (a) a completely homogeneous domain comprising of only muscle tissue, (b) a heterogeneous domain comprising of nerve and muscle tissues, and (c) a heterogeneous domain comprising of bone, nerve and muscle tissues. Finite-element-based simulations were performed to compute the temperature and electrical field distribution during conventional RF procedures for treating pain, and exemplified here for the continuous case. The predicted results reveal that the consideration of heterogeneity within the computational domain results in distorted electric field distribution and leads to a significant reduction in the attained ablation volume during the continuous RF application for pain relief. The findings of this study could provide first-hand quantitative information to clinical practitioners about the impact of such heterogeneities on the efficacy of RF procedures, thereby assisting them in developing standardized optimal protocols for different cases of interest.
