Abstract
INTRODUCTION Chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) significantly impacts the quality of life of cancer patients undergoing treatment, often leading to treatment interruptions and compromised adherence to therapy. Our objective was to identify patterns for selecting the optimal acupoints and explore the treatment principles behind forming effective acupoint combinations for CINV. METHODS Clinical trials were retrieved from eight databases. Descriptive statistics analysis was performed, followed by association rule mining, network analysis, hierarchical cluster analysis, and correlation analysis, all implemented with R software. RESULTS In summary, this study investigated the potential acupoints and combinations for CINV treatment in 104 published controlled clinical trials and randomized controlled trials. 104 prescriptions involving 48 acupoints were extracted. ST36, PC6, CV12, SP4, LI4, and ST25 appeared to be the most frequently used acupoints for CINV. Stomach Meridian, Conception Vessel (Renmai), and Pericardium Meridian were the most common selected meridians. The lower limbs, chest, and abdomen appeared as the predominant sites for acupoint selection. Co-occurrence network analysis indicated that ST36, PC6, and CV12 were central key node acupoints. The clustering analysis displayed the treatment principle of "harmonizing the stomach, stopping vomiting, and descending counterflow." Association rule mining revealed that the combination of CV4, CV12, ST36, CV6, and PC6 emerged as the optimal acupoint combination for effectively treating CINV. CONCLUSION Overall, our research provides evidence-based optimal acupuncture prescription for acupuncturists to treat CINV and presents a complementary therapy for chemotherapy physicians as well as patients to address CINV symptoms.

Abstract
The principle of acupoint stimulation efficacy is based on traditional meridian theory. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying the therapeutic effects of acupoints in treating diseases remain unclear in modern scientific understanding. In this study, we selected the ST36 acupoint for investigation and summarized all relevant literature from the PubMed database over the past 10 years. The results indicate that stimulation of ST36 single acupoints has therapeutic effects mainly in models of respiratory, neurological, digestive, endocrine and immune system diseases. And it can affect the inflammatory state, oxidative stress, respiratory mucus secretion, intestinal flora, immune cell function, neurotransmitter transmission, hormone secretion, the network of Interstitial Cells of Cajal (ICC) and glucose metabolism of the organism in these pathological states. Among them, acupuncture at the ST36 single point has the most prominent function in regulating the inflammatory state, which can mainly affect the activation of MAPK signaling pathway and drive the "molecular-cellular" mode involving macrophages, T-lymphocytes, mast cells (MCs) and neuroglial cells as the core to trigger the molecular level changes of the acupuncture point locally or in the target organ tissues, thereby establishing a multi-system, multi-target, multi-level molecular regulating mechanism. This article provides a comprehensive summary and discussion of the molecular mechanisms and effects of acupuncture at the ST36 acupoint, laying the groundwork for future in-depth research on acupuncture point theory.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the anti-inflammatory effect of electroacupuncture (EA) on chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS), also known as chronic nonbacterial prostatitis (CNP), and explore its underlying mechanism. METHODS A CNP rat was established by surgical castration combined with 17-β estradiol injection in male Sprague-Dawley rats for thirty consecutive days. The CNP rats received EA treatment once a day for eight days. Chronic pelvic pain was evaluated by mechanical withdrawal threshold measurement. The histological change was assessed by hematoxylin-eosin staining. The inflammatory cytokines in prostates were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays. The expressions of toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4), myeloid differentiation factor 88 (MyD88), inhibitors of kappa-B alpha (IκBα), and nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB) were detected by Western blotting. The nuclear translocation of NF-κB and the location of TLR4 were observed with immunofluorescence staining. RESULTS The results showed that EA decreased the prostate index, upregulated the mechanical withdrawal threshold, restored the histomorphology of the prostate, reduced the inflammatory factor levels, inhibited NF-κB p65 nuclear translocation, and downregulated the expression levels of critical proteins involved in the TLR4/NF-κB signaling pathway in prostates. CONCLUSIONS Our findings suggested that EA could relieve pelvic pain and attenuate prostatic inflammation in estradiol-induced CNP rats. The underlying mechanism may be related to the inhibition of the TLR4/NF-κB signaling pathway.

Abstract
PURPOSE Electroacupuncture (EA) is a component alternative therapy for severe chronic constipation (SCC). Women are more vulnerable to SCC and gender might impact the response of patients with functional gastrointestinal disorders to therapy. We performed this secondary analysis to explore the effectiveness and safety of EA compared with prucalopride among women with SCC. METHODS Based on a multicenter, randomized, noninferiority trial, 446 female patients were randomly assigned to receive 28-session EA (n = 222) over 8 weeks with 24-week follow-up without treatment or to receive prucalopride (n = 224) over 32 consecutive weeks. The primary outcome was the proportion of overall complete spontaneous bowel movements (CSBMs) responders over weeks 1-8, defined as at least three CSBMs per week, and more than an increase of one CSBM from baseline meanwhile for at least 6 weeks during an 8-week treatment period. Secondary outcomes measure sustained CSBM responder, weekly responders, change from baseline in mean weekly CSBMs and SBMs, straining and stool consistency, quality of life, and adverse events (AEs). RESULTS The proportion of overall responders was 25.23% in the EA group, similar to 25.89% in the prucalopride group, with a between-group difference of - 0.67% (95% CI, - 8.80 to 7.40%; P = 0.872) during an 8-week treatment. In the secondary outcomes, EA and prucalopride groups had no significant difference, except that EA was inferior to prucalopride in improving SBMs. The AEs were less in the EA group than the prucalopride group. CONCLUSION EA may be a promising and safe treatment for women with SCC; its effect could sustain 24 weeks after treatment stopped.

Abstract
Neurogenic bladder and bowel are two critical autonomic complications following traumatic spinal cord injury (TSCI). Chronic lower urinary tract and bowel dysfunctions can lead to secondary complications, drastically affect the quality of life and significantly increase the risk of hospital readmission and mortality. Other than symptomatic treatments, a few effective therapies are available. Combined acupuncture and moxibustion therapy has positive effects on improving nerve repair and functional recovery in the early phases following TSCI. However, whether it is effective for TSCI-related chronic urinary and bowel dysfunctions remains unknown. This report presents the case of a 26-year-old male patient who experienced neurogenic bladder and bowel dysfunction following TSCI due to an accidental fall from height for more than 10 months and visited our department for combined acupuncture and moxibustion therapy. After 48 treatment sessions, he regained voluntary urination and defecation to a large extent. Urodynamic testing showed recovered bladder compliance and improved detrusor contractility. Symptom assessment with the Qualiveen Short-Form and neurogenic bowel dysfunction scores demonstrated reduced symptom severity. This case suggests that combined acupuncture and moxibustion therapy might help to restore the physiological functions of the lower urinary and digestive tracts following TSCI and might be a promising alternative for the treatment of neurogenic bladder and bowel dysfunction in patients with TSCI.
