Abstract
Androgenetic alopecia (AGA), the most common cause of hair loss, is influenced by various risk factors. Metabolic syndrome constitutes a collection of risk factors elevating the risk of cardiovascular disease. The presence of early-onset AGA could serve as an indicator of the emergence of metabolic syndrome, yet to date, no research has examined these parameters in AGA. This is a cross-sectional study comparing two groups; early onset versus normal onset AGA. Forty participants were enlisted and evenly distributed into the two groups. Subsequently, participants underwent examinations utilizing trichoscopy, trichoscan, and laboratory assessments. Apart from waist circumference, BMI, and age of alopecia onset, there were no notable differences concerning sociodemographic and clinical features. In terms of hair growth parameters, the telogen hair rate stands out as the sole indicator exhibiting a significant difference between both groups, while trichoscopy data also revealed varying hair characteristics. Lastly, metabolic parameters namely triglyceride, fasting blood glucose, HbA1c and HDL differ significantly, with the normal onset group demonstrating a higher prevalence of metabolic abnormality. This suggests a potential association between AGA and metabolic syndrome. However, the exact nature of this relationship remains uncertain, necessitating further research with larger samples, specific age groups and diverse study designs.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The study was aimed to determine level of stress and using of coping strategies and frequency of type D personality in women with androgenetic alopecia with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), to correlate personality type with level of stress and coping strategies, and to correlate severity of alopecia with personality type, level of stress, and coping strategies. MATERIAL AND METHODS The study was conducted in 2023 and included 146 Polish women aged 18 to 45 years with androgenetic alopecia and PCOS. A questionnaire containing social-demographic data, gynecological and obstetric history, health history, history of diagnosis, and treatment of PCOS in the past and present. Three standardized questionnaires were used: the Type-D Scale (DS)-14, Perceived Stress Scale (PSS)-10, and Coping Orientation to Problems Experienced (COPE) inventory. RESULTS Type D personality was found in 45% of patients. Most patients perceived high levels of stress (44%) and most frequently used active and supportive strategies, with avoidance strategies being less frequent. Women with type D personality experienced significantly higher levels of stress, used active strategies less often, and used avoidant strategies more often. Stages of androgenetic alopecia did not correlate with type D personality or levels of perceived stress. CONCLUSIONS In women with androgenetic alopecia, type D personality is determinative of a high level of perceived stress and more frequent use of dysfunctional coping strategies. The severity of the condition did not correlate with personality type and level of stress, while it was related to certain coping strategies.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Alopecia is defined as partial or complete hair loss. The most common form is androgenetic alopecia, which occurs in both men and women. Despite the nonsurgical options available for treatment, the only permanent solution is hair transplantation. Hair loss has been shown to have significant psychological consequences associated with loss of self-confidence, poor self-image and difficulties in social functioning. We aim to examine the effect of hair transplantation on quality of life and psychosocial functioning. METHODS Forty-eight patients with androgenetic alopecia were enrolled in this two-center prospective study and underwent hair transplantation by the Follicular Unit Extraction method. Different questionnaires were used to assess their quality of life and other psychosocial parameters before and after hair transplantation. RESULTS According to SF-36 Physical and Mental Health Score patients showed significant improvement in life quality after hair transplantation. Diener's Life Satisfaction Scale (DASS-21) revealed increased life satisfaction after the procedure. Stress and anxiety DASS-21 subscales showed significantly reduced results; while, the DASS-21 depression scale and MSPSS were not significantly changed. CONCLUSION Taken together, quality of life and psychosocial functioning increased after hair transplantation. Structured abstract is required. Abstract
Background The most prevalent cause of hair loss is androgenetic alopecia. Improved therapeutic modalities may result from knowing how stress affects hair growth, incorporating stress-coping methods into the treatment of hair loss disorders, and developing new pharmacotherapeutic approaches. This study aimed to examine the psychosocial burden of androgenetic alopecia in Saudi Arabia. Materials and Methods A cross-sectional online survey study was conducted among patients with androgenetic alopecia in Saudi Arabia in February 2023. A previously developed questionnaire was adapted from a previously published tool and used in this study. This association between patients' characteristics and the level of psychosocial disease was identified using binary logistic regression analysis. Results This study included 1230 patients. The majority of the patients (78.0%) reported that they felt embarrassed by their androgenetic alopecia. The median score of the psychosocial impact of androgenetic alopecia on the patients was 1.00 (0.00-2.00), which is equal to 10.0%, reflecting a low level of psychosocial burden on the patients by their condition. Binary logistic regression analysis identified that patients without a family history of androgenetic alopecia were 36.0% less likely to be affected psychosocially by their condition (P < 0.01). Conclusions A low-level psychosocial effect was seen in our study among individuals with androgenetic alopecia. Further research should be done to determine how the type of alopecia affects patients' psychological results, as well as the influence of the disease's duration on those outcomes. Dermatologists are recommended to raise patients' knowledge of their disease and lessen stigmatization in the meantime.

Abstract
Background Hair plays a significant role in physical appearance and hair loss can profoundly affect self-esteem and mental health. Studies show that people with clinically obvious and undetectable hair loss may have dramatically decreased quality of life (QoL). This study investigated the impact of androgenic alopecia on the quality of life of male individuals in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia and their willingness to seek treatment. Methods In the eastern province of Saudi Arabia, a cross-sectional study was carried out among men identified with androgenic alopecia (AGA). A self-administered survey was disseminated among the patients through social media sites. The questionnaire includes fundamental demographic factors including age, place of residence, level of education, the severity of androgenic alopecia, treatment method, and Skindex-29 to assess the patient's quality of life. Results Four hundred-two male patients out of 717 participants were selected, and 158 (39.3%) were aged between 20 to 29 years old. Satisfaction with treatment medication was reported by 24 (19.5%) out of those who underwent treatment (n=123). Less effectiveness was the most common reason for treatment dissatisfaction (81, 81.8%). The overall mean Skindex-29 score was 23.2 (SD 19.6) out of 100 points. Younger age, suffering hair loss for a shorter duration, undergoing alopecia treatment, being diagnosed with alopecia by a medical doctor, and having a moderate level of AGA were the factors that greatly affected the patient's QoL. Conclusion Consistent with the literature, this study showed that AGA significantly impaired patients' QoL. Among QoL domains, the symptoms domain had a greater effect on patients than the emotions or functional domains. Younger males who were suffering recently from hair loss and were diagnosed with AGA by the medical doctor demonstrated greater QoL impairment than the rest of the patients. A multicenter study may result in a better representation of the impact of QoL in patients with AGA.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIM No previous study investigated the anatomical changes of the scalp and hair follicles between tertiary androgenetic alopecia and severe alopecia areata using high-resolution magnetic resonance imaging (HR-MRI). This study aimed to explore the value of HR-MRI in assessing alopecia. MATERIALS AND METHODS Forty-eight people were included in this study. The imaging indicators of the vertex and occipital scalp were recorded and compared. The logistic regression model was developed for the indicators that differed between tertiary androgenetic alopecia and severe alopecia areata. The receiver-operating characteristic (ROC) curve was used to assess the diagnostic efficacy of the model for tertiary androgenetic alopecia and severe alopecia areata. RESULTS At the vertex, the thickness of the subcutaneous tissue layer, follicle depth, relative follicle depth, total number of follicles within a 2-cm distance, and number of strands reaching the middle and upper third of the subcutaneous fat layer within a 2-cm distance were statistically different between patients with tertiary androgenetic alopecia, those with severe alopecia areata, and healthy volunteers (p < 0.05). The logistic regression model suggested that the subcutaneous tissue layer thickness was important in discriminating tertiary androgenetic alopecia from severe alopecia areata. The ROC curve showed that the area under the curve, sensitivity, specificity, and best cutoff values of the subcutaneous tissue layer were 0.886, 94.4%, 70%, and 4.31 mm, respectively. CONCLUSIONS HR-MRI can observe the changes in anatomical structures of the scalp and hair follicles in patients with alopecia. HR-MRI can be applied to the differential diagnosis of tertiary androgenetic alopecia and severe alopecia areata.

Abstract
Hair loss is a widespread concern in dermatology clinics, affecting both men's and women's quality of life. Hair loss can have many different causes, which are critical to identify in order to provide appropriate treatment. Hair loss can happen due to many variables, such as genetic factors or predisposition, vitamin and mineral deficiencies, skin problems, hair growth disorders, poor diet, hormonal problems, certain internal diseases, drug use, stress and depression, cosmetic factors, childbirth, and the chemotherapy process. Treatment for hair loss varies depending on the type of alopecia, deficiency, or excess of structures such as vitamins and minerals, and also on hair and skin structure. The Mediterranean diet is characterized by low amounts of saturated fat, animal protein, and high amounts of unsaturated fat, fiber, polyphenols, and antioxidants. The main nutrients found in the Mediterranean Diet are rich in antioxidant, anti-inflammatory components. It also has an important place in hair loss treatment, since recently treatment strategies have included polyphenols and unsaturated oils more and more frequently. The goal of this work was to review published articles examining alopecia and its types, the many micronutrients that affect alopecia, and the role of the Mediterranean diet in alopecia. The literature shows that little is known about hair loss, nutritional factors, and diet, and that the data collected are conflicting. Given these differences, research into the function of diet and nutrition in the treatment of baldness is a dynamic and growing topic.
