Abstract
Diseases of the gastrointestinal system are related to the dysfunction of the spleen and stomach. It has been noted that patients with emotional disorders often have a chief complaint of somatic symptoms and patients with somatic diseases often have emotional disorders. Huang Di Nei Jing established the theory of the relationship between emotion and the five internal organs. Emotion is mastered by the spleen, which is the basis for a variety of emotional activities, and spleen and stomach dysfunction is closely related to the mood related diseases. In this paper we summarize the research status and prospect for acupuncture therapy in diseases of the gastrointestinal system associated with negative emotions, such as irritable bowel syndrome, functional dyspepsia, chronic gastritis and peptic ulcer.
