The effects of self-efficacy and social support on behavior problems in 8~18 years old children with malignant tumors

Objective

To explore the influence factors of behavior problems of 8~18 years old children with malignant tumors in the treatment period, as well as the mediating effects of social support self-efficacy and post-traumatic growth.

Methods

From May 2019 to October 2019, 160 children with malignant tumors during the treatment were selected through convenience sampling method, and were investigated via the General Self-Efficacy Scale, Social Support Questionnaire, Post-Traumatic Growth Scale and Conners’ Parent Symptom Questionnaire. Structural equation model was established on the basis of survey results.

Results

The total detection rate of behavior problems in 8~18 years old children with malignant tumors was 10.6%. The structural equation models indicated that boys had more behavior problems than girls, self-efficacy, social support and post-traumatic growth can directly affect the behavior problems of 8~18 years old children with malignant tumors in the treatment period, and the standardized total effect of self-efficacy in both of the first model and the second model was the largest. Self-efficacy is also able to indirectly and negatively predict the behavior problems based on social support or post-traumatic growth. Social support can directly affect behavior problems or indirectly predict behavior problems through self-efficacy and post-traumatic growth. After 2000 bootstrap tests, the mediating effects of social support self-efficacy and post-traumatic growth were confirmed.

Conclusion

Reduced total detection rate of behavior problems suggests that targeted interventions in recent years may be effective. Interventions focused on improving self-efficacy, social support and post-traumatic growth may lessen behavior problems of children with malignant tumors in the treatment period.

Positive psychology in patients with digestive system malignancies

Digestive system malignancies are most common in China and seriously threaten human health and life. This paper reviews the progress in the research of positive psychology in patients with digestive system malignancies with regard to current research status, influencing factors, and intervention measures, in order to provide reference for clinical nursing, promote patients to generate positive psychological changes, and improve the quality of life of patients.

Efficacy of risk early-warning system in prevention of nosocomial infection in hospitalized patients in gastroenterology department

AIM

To evaluate the efficacy of risk early-warning system in the prevention of nosocomial infection in hospitalized patients in gastroenterology department.

METHODS

Six hundred and seventy-seven patients hospitalized from July 2013 to August 2016 at gastroenterology department were divided into either an observation group (February 2015 to August 2016) or a control group (July 2013 to January 2015) based on whether risk early-warning system was adopted. The incidence of nosocomial infection and infection control effects were compared between the two groups.

RESULTS

The observation group included 390 cases, in which 5 (1.28%) developed nosocomial infection, including two cases of respiratory tract infection and three cases of gastrointestinal infection. The control group contained 287 cases, in which 10 (3.48%) developed nosocomial infection, including two cases of respiratory tract infection, three cases of urinary tract infection, three cases of gastrointestinal infection, one case of blood infection, and one case of skin infection. The overall incidence rate of nosocomial infection was significantly lower in the observation group than in the control group (P < 0.05). There were 46 management persons for the observation group, in which the qualified rate of early warning awareness was 95.65%, the rate of having knowledge of nosocomial infection was 93.48%, and the rate of excellent warning was 97.83%. There were 41 management persons for the control group, in which the qualified rate of early warning awareness, the rate of having knowledge of nosocomial infection, and the rate of excellent warning were 68.29%, 73.17%, and 82.93%, respectively. There were significant differences between the observation group and the control group (P < 0.05 for all)

CONCLUSION

The implementation of risk early-warning system can reduce the risk of nosocomial infection in hospitalized patients, improve the quality of risk management, and reduce or even avoid the occurrence of risk events and disputes.
