Ectopic Prostate Tissue in the Uterine Cervix of a Female with Non-Classic Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia-A Case Report

Introduction: The occurrence of ectopic prostate tissue in the female genital tract is rare and has only been described sporadically. The origin of these lesions is unclear, but their appearance seems to be associated with various forms of androgen excess, including androgen therapy for transgender treatment or disorders of sex development, such as classic congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH). This is the first described case of ectopic prostate tissue in the cervix uteri of a 46,XX patient with a confirmed diagnosis of non-classic CAH due to 21-OHD and a history of mild adrenal androgen excess. Case presentation: We describe a 34-year-old patient with a genetic diagnosis of non-classic CAH due to 21-hydroxylase deficiency (21-OHD) with a female karyo- and phenotype and a history of mild adrenal androgen excess. Due to dysplasia in the cervical smear, conization had to be performed, revealing ectopic prostate tissue in the cervix uteri of the patient. Conclusions: An association between androgen excess and the occurrence of prostate tissue is likely and should therefore be considered as a differential diagnosis for atypical tissue in the female genital tract.

Leydig Cell Tumor in a Patient with 46,XX Disorder of Sex Development (DSD), Ovotesticular: A Case Report and a Review of the Literature

Disorder of sex development (DSD) is a rare condition with atypical development of chromosomal, gonadal, or anatomical sex. It is classified in different subgroups based on the patient's karyotype, gonadal dysgenesis, and the appearance of the internal and external genitalia. Within the subgroups, the risk for developing neoplasms varies a lot. Here, we report the case of a 41-year-old patient with disorder of sex development, showing a 46,XX karyotype with an ovotestis and the simultaneous manifestation of a Leydig cell tumor in the ovotestis. The patient initially presented with infertility, and a suspicious lesion of the left testicle was noted on MRI-Scan. Upon resection, a Leydig cell tumor and an ovotestis were diagnosed. Nongerm call tumors are rare in patients with DSD. We report a nongerm cell tumor in a patient with 46,XX DSD, ovotesticular. This shows that although 46,XX DSD, ovotesticular is known to have a low potential for germ cell neoplasia, nongerm cell tumors can develop and should be into account for the management of those patients.

Prostatic tissue in 46XX congenital adrenal hyperplasia: Case report and literature review

The presence of prostatic tissue, in addition to uterus and adrenal tumors, is possible in 46XX patients with CAH. Lesions of these organs are usually benign. However, complications including prostate and adrenal cancer were also reported.

Prostate gland development and adrenal tumor in a female with congenital adrenal hyperplasia: a case report and review from radiology perspective

We describe a case of a female with simple virilizing congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) reared as a male diagnosed at the late age of 64. Computed Tomography (CT) demonstrated a large adrenal mass, bilateral diffuse adrenal enlargement, female pelvic organs as well as a clearly visualized prostate gland. This is to the best of our knowledge the first case of such a sizable prostate gland in a female CAH patient documented on CT. We review the literature regarding aspects where radiologists may encounter CAH and the finding of presence of a prostate gland in female CAH patients.
