Abstract
BACKGROUND Collision carcinoma is a rare histological pattern, and includes two or more different types of tumors coexisting in the same organ as one neoplasm. Different to the combined type, the two adjacent tumors of collision carcinoma are histologically distinct. Collision carcinoma may occur from any origin or organ, including the cecum, liver, cervix, thyroid, stomach, kidney, and esophagus. In the rectum, adenocarcinoma is the most common pathological type, the combined type is rare, and collision tumors are even rarer. To date, only a limited number of collision carcinoma cases originating from the rectum have been reported. Due to the scarcity of rectal collision carcinoma, more cases need to be reported to fully understand the clinico-pathological features and biological behavior of the tumor.
CASE SUMMARY Here we report a 40-year-old female who presented with the chief complaints of persistent changes in bowel habits and hematochezia for 10 d. She underwent Miles' operation which revealed a collision carcinoma of the rectum, showing a “side by side” pattern, composed of a high grade neuroendocrine carcinoma, (small cell carcinoma) and moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma, based on its clinico-pathological features and biological behavior. The patient remained disease-free at 12 mo follow-up. We also focused on the related literature and expert opinion.
CONCLUSION Collision carcinoma is a rare tumor with ambiguous biological behavior. Greater attention should be paid to its clinico-pathologic diagnosis. Regular and adequate follow-up is essential to help rule out metastasis and assess the prognosis.

Abstract
Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) are common mesenchymal tumors of the gastrointestinal tract (GIT), usually occur as a solitary neoplasm. Inflammatory florid polyp (IFP) is a solitary rare benign lesion of the gastrointestinal tract, mainly occur in the gastric antrum, whose atypical presentation can mimic GISTs or other malignant tumors, therefore the synchronous occurrence of GISTs and IFP is extremely rare. We had a case of a 58-year-old man that was presented with recurrent epigastric pain and recurrent melena. Upper endoscopic examination revealed a large polypoid antrum polyp measured 7 cm at greatest dimension with focal ulceration. Clinical and radiological features did not reach the definite diagnosis until histopathological evaluation with immunohistochemical analysis was performed. Surgical intervention is recommended and partial gastrectomy was done with wide resection margins. Histological examination revealed two distinct GISTs and IFP parts presenting a collision tumor that showed spindle and epitheloid cells consistent with GISTs with histological features of florid polyp showed a characteristic perivascular onion-skin arrangement of spindle cells with dense chronic inflammatory infiltrate including eosinophils and lymphocytes. Immunohistochemical studies have been done and revealed an association between GISTs and IFP. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case of a collision tumor consisting of a GIST and an IFP arising in the stomach. In conclusion, the gastrointestinal stromal tumor is the comments mesenchymal tumor of GIT and IFP is a rare benign lesion of GIT therefore association between GIST and IFP as a collision tumor is extremely rare.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Gastric gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) is the most common etiology of gastroduodenal intussusception. Although gastroduodenal intussusception caused by gastric GIST is mostly treated by surgical resection, the first case of gastroduodenal intussusception caused by gastric GIST was treated by endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) in Japan in 2017.
CASE SUMMARY An 84-year-old woman presented with symptoms of postprandial fullness with nausea and occasional vomiting for a month. Initially, she visited a local clinic for help, where abdominal sonography revealed a space-occupying lesion around the liver, so she was referred to our hospital for further confirmation. Abdominal sonography was repeated, which revealed a mass with an alternating concentric echogenic lesion. Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) was performed under the initial impression of gastric cancer with central necrosis and showed a tortuous distortion of gastric folds down from the lesser curvature side to the duodenal bulb with stenosis of the gastric outlet. EGD was barely passed through to the 2nd portion of the duodenum and a friable ulcerated mass was found. Several differential diagnoses were suspected, including gastroduodenal intussusception, gastric cancer invasion to the duodenum, or pancreatic cancer with adherence to the gastric antrum and duodenum. Abdominal computed tomography for further evaluation was arranged and showed gastroduodenal intussusception with a long stalk polypoid mass 5.9 cm in the duodenal bulb. Under the impression of gastroduodenal intussusception, ESD was performed at the base of the gastroduodenal intussusception; unfortunately, a gastric perforation was found after complete resection was accomplished, so gastrorrhaphy was performed for the perforation and retrieval of the huge polypoid lesion. The gastric tumor was pathologically proved to be a GIST. After the operation, there was no digestive disturbance and the patient was discharged uneventfully on the 10th day following the operation.
CONCLUSION We present the second case of gastroduodenal intussusception caused by GIST treated by ESD. It is also the first case report of gastroduodenal intussusception by GIST in Taiwan, and endoscopic reduction or resection is an alternative treatment for elderly patients who are not candidates for surgery.

Abstract
Intussusception of the small bowel is an uncommon condition, with the majority of cases being observed during infancy. A number of points are responsible, with benign and malignant lesions of the small intestine being the most common. Herein, we present the case of a 75-year-old male patient with vague abdominal pain and black stool during defecation, who underwent surgery due to jejunal intussusception. Pathology report demonstrated a neuroendocrine carcinoma as the underlying cause for his condition, with no additional metastases during the initial diagnosis. Although a conservative approach for management of intussusception is viable, the possibility of gastric outlet obstruction and the presence of malignancy as the primary point usually lead to urgent surgery. In the case of malignancy, adjuvant chemotherapy or additional symptomatic therapy with close follow-up may be required depending on tumor's grade and aggressiveness.

Abstract
The present report describes a rare case of a tumor composed of early gastric cancer and a duodenal neuroendocrine tumor (NET). A 78-year-old woman underwent esophagogastroduodenoscopy at a local institution for screening of the upper gastrointestinal tract which revealed a protruded tumor through the pyloric ring from the pyloric antrum. The tumor was too large to treat at the facility; consequently, she was referred to our hospital for further management. Esophagogastroduodenoscopy with tumor biopsy of the lesion revealed the diagnosis of early gastric cancer. Endoscopic submucosal dissection was performed with sufficient free margins in both vertical and horizontal directions. Histopathological findings showed NET confined to the submucosal layer and covered by well-differentiated adenocarcinoma. Immunohistochemical stainings showed that the two lesions existed continuously. While the possibility of a collision cancer was considered, it was suggested that the two lesions existed continuously. Finally, the tumor was diagnosed as gastric cancer composed of duodenal NET G1, with a lymphatic invasion of NET component.

Abstract
Neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs) are a group of heterogeneous, biologically diverse, rare malignancies originated from the peptidergic neurons and neuroendocrine cells. In recent years, the incidence of NENs has been increasing gradually. They typically arise in the pancreas and gastrointestinal tract. Chromogranin A (CgA) has long been used as an important broad-spectrum marker for the identification of NENs. The diagnosis is based on histopathology demonstrating neuroendocrine features such as positive staining for chromogranin A and specific hormones such as gastrin, proinsulin, vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) and glucagon. In addition, radiological modalities including computed tomography (CT), positron emission tomography and computed tomography (PET/CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), ultrasound (US), endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), and somatostatin receptor scintigraphy (SRS) can help establish a diagnosis. Surgery is still one of the cornerstones in the management of NENs. This article reviews the current progress in the diagnosis and therapy of NENs of the digestive system, including the pathological features and clinical diagnostic modalities for primary esophageal, gastric, duodenal, small intestinal, appendiceal, colonic, rectal, hepatic, gallbladder, extrahepatic bile duct, and pancreatic NENs, according to a revised system of classification, nomenclature and grading of NENs proposed by the fourth edition of "World Health Organization (WHO) classification of tumours of the digestive system" in 2010, and consensus of diagnosis and treatment of gastroenteropancreatic NENs (GEP-NENs) proposed by the Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology (CSCO) in 2013.

Abstract
Collision tumors of the stomach are rare. We report on a case of a collision tumor consisting of a gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) and an inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT) of the stomach in a 16-year-old female. A polypoid mass located in the distal body of the stomach was observed on abdominal computed tomography. Laparoscopic wedge resection of the stomach and 4d lymph node biopsy was performed. On gross examination, a protruding submucosal mass, measuring 4 × 3.5 × 2.5 cm in size, was detected. Histological examination showed two distinct GIST and IMT component presenting a collision tumor. The small nodular area, composed of CD117-positive spindle cells, was typical of GIST, and the adjacent larger area, composed of myofibroblastic spindle cells with prominent chronic inflammatory cells infiltrate, mainly lymphocytes and plasma cells, had a characteristic appearance of IMT. The 4d lymph node showed metastatic inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case of a collision tumor consisting of a GIST and an IMT arising in the stomach.
