Abstract
Mounting neuroimaging evidence indicates that patients with thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy (TAO) demonstrate altered brain function and structure. Nonetheless, the alterations in the topological properties of the functional brain connectome in TAO patients are not yet fully understood. This study aimed to investigate the topological organization of the functional brain connectome in TAO patients using graph-theoretic methods. Twenty-five TAO patients (10 males and 15 females) and 25 age-, sex-, and education-matched healthy controls (HCs) (10 males and 15 females) (the TAO and HC data are from the same dataset in previous studies) underwent resting-state MRI scans. Graph-theoretic analysis was used to study the global, nodal, and edge topological properties of the brain's functional connectome. Both the TAO and HC groups exhibited high-efficiency small-world networks in their brain functional networks. However, there were no significant differences in small-world properties (Cp, γ, λ, Lp, and σ) and network efficiency [global and local efficiencies (Eloc)] between the two groups. In addition, the TAO group demonstrated reduced betweenness centrality in the right fusiform and increased nodal Eloc in the right intraparietal sulcus ( P < 0.05, Bonferroni-corrected). Furthermore, the TAO group displayed altered functional connections among the default-mode network (DMN), visual network (VN), sensorimotor network (SMN), and cingulo-opercular network (CON). Patients with TAO exhibited abnormal topological organization of the human brain connectome, including decreased betweenness centrality and increased nodal Eloc. Moreover, the TAO group displayed altered functional connections primarily within the DMN, VN, SMN, and CON. These findings provide crucial insights into the neural mechanisms underlying visual loss, abnormal emotion regulation, and cognitive deficits in TAO patients.

Abstract
Thyroid eye disease (TED) is an organ-specific autoimmune disease secondary largely to hyperthyroid Graves' disease, which profoundly affects patients' visual function, appearance, and physical and mental well-being. Emerging neuroimaging studies have reported alterations in the brains of patients with TED, suggesting that the impact of this autoimmune disease may extend beyond the orbit. This systematic review aims to consolidate the neuroimaging evidence that describes the brain alterations of TED. We analyzed information from thirty-one related studies involving 1349 TED patients and 710 healthy controls, employing multimodal neuroimaging techniques such as structural magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), functional MRI, diffusion MRI, and metabolic MRI. These studies define the brain alterations in regions associated with vision, cognition, and emotion regulation, such as gray matter volume changes, altered functional connectivity and activity, and microstructural modifications, revealing the neurological impact of TED beyond the orbit. Notably, there was convergence across these studies indicating predominant abnormalities within the occipital and parietal lobes. This review underscores the critical role of advanced neuroimaging techniques in unraveling the complex neuropathological mechanism of TED, laying a foundation for future research and potential therapeutic targets.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Although gray matter (GM) volume alterations have been extensively documented in previous voxel-based morphometry studies on vestibular migraine (VM), little is known about the impact of this disease on the topological organization of GM morphological networks. This study investigated the altered network patterns of the GM connectome in patients with VM. METHODS In this study, 55 patients with VM and 57 healthy controls (HCs) underwent structural T1-weighted MRI. GM morphological networks were constructed by estimating interregional similarity in the distributions of regional GM volume based on the Kullback-Leibler divergence measure. Graph-theoretical metrics and interregional morphological connectivity were computed and compared between the two groups. Partial correlation analyses were performed between significant GM connectome features and clinical parameters. Logistic regression (LR), support vector machine (SVM), and random forest (RF) classifiers were used to examine the performance of significant GM connectome features in distinguishing patients with VM from HCs. RESULTS Compared with HCs, patients with VM exhibited increased clustering coefficient and local efficiency, as well as reduced nodal degree and nodal efficiency in the left superior temporal gyrus (STG). Furthermore, we identified one connected component with decreased morphological connectivity strength, and the involved regions were mainly located in the STG, temporal pole, prefrontal cortex, supplementary motor area, cingulum, fusiform gyrus, and cerebellum. In the VM group, several connections in the identified connected component were correlated with clinical measures (i.e., symptoms and emotional scales); however, these correlations did not survive multiple comparison corrections. A combination of significant graph- and connectivity-based features allowed single-subject classification of VM versus HC with significant accuracy of 77.68%, 77.68%, and 72.32% for the LR, SVM, and RF models, respectively. CONCLUSION Patients with VM had aberrant GM connectomes in terms of topological properties and network connections, reflecting potential dizziness, pain, and emotional dysfunctions. The identified features could serve as individualized neuroimaging markers of VM.

Abstract
Objectives: To assess the mismatch between the clinical observation of vitreous alterations and self-reported symptoms in young patients complaining of symptomatic vitreous opacities (SVO). Methods: The ophthalmic medical records of young patients presenting primarily with SVO were retrospectively evaluated. Symptoms severity was assessed using a questionnaire. The status of the vitreous body was examined with indirect ophthalmoscopy at the slit-lamp and classified according to an ad hoc severity scale. Results: Sixty eyes of thirty otherwise healthy patients (median age: 32.5 (IQR: 29.0-37.0) years old) complaining of SVO (median duration: 38 months; interquartile range: 18-84 months) were enrolled. SVO was rated as severe by 50% of participants, affecting all the activities explored in the questionnaire. Twenty-three patients (76.6%) reported SVO-related depression and/or anxiety, for which eleven patients (36.6%) were or had been using medication. Fifty-eight eyes (96.6%) showed no evidence of (or minimal) vitreous opacity, while two eyes (3.3%) were found to have significant vitreous opacity. No significant inter-gender differences (p > 0.05) and no significant differences (p > 0.05) were found between the severity of vitreous opacity and patients' reported symptoms nor with their psychological status and medication use. Conclusions: Severe discomfort related to the perception of vitreous floaters exists in young patients whose vitreous gel examination is unremarkable or shows only minor alterations. We believe this discrepancy can be explained by optical anisotropy; significant forward-scattering of light, which results in floater symptoms; and reduced back reflection, which limits the clinical observation.

Abstract
Purpose This review aims to discuss the psychological aspects of Graves' ophthalmopathy (GO), estimate the prevalence of depression and anxiety disorders in GO, examine whether these psychiatric disorders are more prevalent in GO than in Graves' disease (GD) without eye disease, and evaluate the main contributors for depression and anxiety in GO. Methods A review of the literature. Results Both depression and anxiety are associated with GO. The prevalence of depression and anxiety disorders specifically in GO patients was estimated at 18-33% and 26-41%, respectively. The reported prevalence in GD patients ranged from 9% to 70% for depression and from 18% to 88% for anxiety disorders. Significantly higher levels of depression and anxiety were found in GD patients compared with patients with non-autoimmune hyperthyroidism. Conflicting results have been reported regarding the association of antithyroid autoantibodies with depression and anxiety disorders. Serum thyroid hormone levels do not correlate with the severity of depression and anxiety. An improvement of psychiatric symptoms is observed in hyperthyroid patients after treatment of thyrotoxicosis. Moreover, depression and anxiety are significantly related to impaired quality of life (QoL) in GO. Exophthalmos and diplopia were not associated with depression nor anxiety, but orbital decompression and strabismus surgery do seem to improve QoL in GO patients. Conclusions The results of this review suggest that altered thyroid hormone levels and autoimmunity are prognostic factors for depression and anxiety in GO. With regard to the visual and disfiguring aspects of GO as contributing factors for depression and anxiety, no decisive conclusions can be made.

Abstract
Objectives: To identify the effect of alternating monocular instillation (AMI) of 0.125% atropine in Korean children with progressive myopia. Methods: This retrospective single-center study included 120 children with progressive myopia. A total of 60 children (mean age 9.2 ± 2.0 years) wearing glasses who received AMI of 0.125% atropine for one year were allocated to the treatment group. The remaining 60 children (mean age 9.2 ± 1.9 years) with the same refraction, SE, and axial length (AL) who did not receive any treatments except for wearing glasses were allocated to the control group. Ocular findings and the progression rate were compared between the groups pre- and post-treatment, and adverse events were investigated in the treatment group. Results: The mean spherical equivalent (SE) at baseline was -3.87 ± 1.55 D in the control group and -3.90 ± 1.56 D in the treatment group. Pre-treatment SE, age, and AL were similar between the groups; however, post-treatment SE and AL changes were smaller in the treatment group (-0.36 ± 0.46 D/y, 0.21 ± 0.20 mm/year in the treatment group vs. -1.02 ± 0.57 D/y, 0.51 ± 0.20 mm/year in the control group) (Ps < 0.001). The pre-treatment progression rate diminished in the treatment group compared to the control group after one year (p < 0.001), and the changes in pupil size under mesopic and photopic conditions in the treatment group increased by 0.03 ± 0.05 mm and 0.76 ± 0.90 mm, respectively. Regarding adverse events, a tingling sensation was noted in two patients (3.3%) in the treatment group. Conclusions: Alternating monocular 0.125% atropine eye drop instillation may be effective and suitable for progressive myopia in Korean children.

Abstract
Background Thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy (TAO) is a prevalent autoimmune disease characterized by ocular symptoms like eyelid retraction and exophthalmos. Prior neuroimaging studies have revealed structural and functional brain abnormalities in TAO patients, along with central nervous system symptoms such as cognitive deficits. Nonetheless, the changes in the static and dynamic functional network connectivity of the brain in TAO patients are currently unknown. This study delved into the modifications in static functional network connectivity (sFNC) and dynamic functional network connectivity (dFNC) among thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy patients using independent component analysis (ICA). Methods Thirty-two patients diagnosed with thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy and 30 healthy controls (HCs) underwent resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) scanning. ICA method was utilized to extract the sFNC and dFNC changes of both groups. Results In comparison to the HC group, the TAO group exhibited significantly increased intra-network functional connectivity (FC) in the right inferior temporal gyrus of the executive control network (ECN) and the visual network (VN), along with significantly decreased intra-network FC in the dorsal attentional network (DAN), the default mode network (DMN), and the left middle cingulum of the ECN. On the other hand, FNC analysis revealed substantially reduced connectivity intra- VN and inter- cerebellum network (CN) and high-level cognitive networks (DAN, DMN, and ECN) in the TAO group compared to the HC group. Regarding dFNC, TAO patients displayed abnormal connectivity across all five states, characterized by notably reduced intra-VN connectivity and CN connectivity with high-level cognitive networks (DAN, DMN, and ECN), alongside compensatory increased connectivity between DMN and low-level perceptual networks (VN and basal ganglia network). No significant differences were observed between the two groups for the three dynamic temporal metrics. Furthermore, excluding the classification outcomes of FC within VN (with an accuracy of 51.61% and area under the curve of 0.35208), the FC-based support vector machine (SVM) model demonstrated improved performance in distinguishing between TAO and HC, achieving accuracies ranging from 69.35 to 77.42% and areas under the curve from 0.68229 to 0.81667. The FNC-based SVM classification yielded an accuracy of 61.29% and an area under the curve of 0.57292. Conclusion In summary, our study revealed that significant alterations in the visual network and high-level cognitive networks. These discoveries contribute to our understanding of the neural mechanisms in individuals with TAO, offering a valuable target for exploring future central nervous system changes in thyroid-associated eye diseases.

Abstract
This study aimed to identify whether gyrate atrophy of the choroid and retina (GACR) heterozygous individuals have possible clinical manifestations and to explore the potential pathogenic mechanism. In this retrospective study, we surveyed a two-generation pedigree of an individual diagnosed with GACR. Two family members underwent ophthalmological, hematologic, and genetic tests. An arginine-restricted diet with vitamin B6 supplementation was implemented; clinical assessments were repeated every 3 months during follow-up. The relative OAT mRNA expression was determined using a real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction. The 19-year-old compound heterozygous daughter (OAT: c.1186C>T; c.748C>T) had bilateral pathologic myopia, posterior staphyloma, chorioretinal atrophy, macular abnormalities, and elevated hematologic ornithine. The 54-year-old heterozygous mother (OAT: c.1186C>T) presented with bilateral pathologic myopia, asymmetric posterior staphyloma, retina and choroidal capillary layer atrophy, retinal pigment epithelium abnormalities, and mildly elevated hematologic ornithine. Compared to normal individuals, the daughter and mother had 29% and 46% relative OAT mRNA expression, respectively (p < 0.001). We believe that this is the first report of a carrier of one OAT variant allele exhibiting a mild phenotype, suggesting that family members should be aware of the possibility of clinical involvement in carriers with some autosomal recessive conditions. Additional data suggest that nonsense-mediated, decay-initiated mRNA degradation may cause GACR.

Abstract
The objective of this paper was to determine how different types of posterior staphyloma (PS) may affect the appearance and degree of myopic maculopathy. A cross-sectional study was conducted, in which 467 eyes from 246 highly myopic patients [axial length (AL) ≥ 26 mm] were studied. A complete ophthalmic exploration was carried out on all patients, including imaging tests. The presence of macular PS was established as the main comparison variable between groups (macular PS vs. non-macular PS vs. non-PS). The variables analyzed included age, AL, decimal best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), Atrophy (A)/Traction (T)/Neovascularization (N) components according to the ATN grading system, and the presence of severe pathologic myopia (PM). Out of the total, 179 eyes (38.3%) presented macular PS, 146 eyes presented non-macular PS (31.2%), and 142 eyes showed no PS (30.4%). The group without PS was significantly younger than macular PS and non-macular PS groups (53.85 vs. 66.57 vs. 65.20 years; p < 0.001 each, respectively). There were no age differences between PS groups. Eyes with macular PS (31.47 ± 2.30 mm) were significantly longer than those with non-macular PS (28.68 ± 1.78 mm, p < 0.001) and those without PS (27.47 ± 1.34 mm, p < 0.001). BCVA was significantly better in the non-PS group (0.75 ± 0.27) compared to the non-macular PS (0.56 ± 0.31) and macular PS groups (0.43 ± 0.33), with p < 0.001 each. Eyes without PS showed significantly lower A and T components (1.31 ± 0.96 and 0.30 ± 0.53, respectively) than non-macular PS (2.21 ± 0.75 and 0.71 ± 0.99, respectively, p < 0.001 each) and macular PS eyes (2.83 ± 0.64 and 1.11 ± 1.10, respectively, p < 0.001 each). The N component was lower in non-PS eyes vs. non-macular PS eyes (0.20 ± 0.59 vs. 0.47 ± 0.83, p < 0.001) and as compared to the macular PS group (0.68 ± 0.90, p < 0.01). Additionally, the N component was significantly lower in the non-macular PS group than in the macular PS one (p < 0.05). The prevalence of severe PM was different between groups (p < 0.001). It was higher among macular PS eyes (138/179) when compared to other groups (p < 0.001, each), followed by the non-macular PS eyes (40/146) and being the lowest in the non-PS group (20/142). To conclude, macular PS is associated with a more advanced maculopathy, worse vision, and higher rates of severe PM.

Abstract
Background/Objectives: This retrospective case series analyzed visual outcomes in patients with a prior history of implantable collamer lens (ICL) implantation who underwent cataract extraction (CE). A secondary aim was to investigate the relationship between vault height and the rate of cataract development. Methods: Visual acuity and refraction measurements were collected after CE at one week, one month and six months. Vault height measurements were correlated to the time until symptomatic cataracts were removed. Results: A total of 44 eyes were analyzed at six months after CE with efficacy and safety indexes of 1.20 ± 1.11 and 1.50 ± 1.06, respectively. In addition, 70% of eyes had a post-operative uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA) within one line of pre-operative corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA). Refractive predictability at six months demonstrated that 43% and 69% of eyes were within ±0.25 D and ±0.50 D of SEQ target, respectively. Astigmatism measured by refractive cylinder was ≤0.25 D in 17% and ≤0.50 D in 34% of eyes pre-operatively compared to 40% and 60% of eyes, respectively, at six months post-operatively. Vault heights one week after ICL (p < 0.0081) and one week before CE (p < 0.0154) demonstrated a positive linear regression with the time until CE. Conclusions: This sample population achieved favorable visual outcomes six months after CE, similar to six months after ICL implantation. Patients with a history of ICL implantation will similarly have a good visual prognosis after CE.

Abstract
CONTEXT Dysthyroid optic neuropathy (DON) is a serious vision-threatening complication of thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy (TAO). Exploration of the underlying mechanisms of DON is critical for its timely clinical diagnosis. OBJECTIVE We hypothesized that TAO patients with DON may have altered brain functional networks. We aimed to explore the alterations of static and dynamic functional connectomes in patients with and without DON using resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging with the graph theory method. METHODS A cross-sectional study was conducted at a grade A tertiary hospital with 66 TAO patients (28 DON and 38 non-DON) and 30 healthy controls (HCs). Main outcome measures included topological properties of functional networks. RESULTS For static properties, DON patients exhibited lower global efficiency (Eg), local efficiency, normalized clustering coefficient, small-worldness (σ), and higher characteristic path length (Lp) than HCs. DON and non-DON patients both exhibited varying degrees of abnormalities in nodal properties. Meanwhile, compared with non-DON, DON patients exhibited abnormalities in nodal properties in the orbitofrontal cortex and visual network (VN). For dynamic properties, the DON group exhibited higher variance in Eg and Lp than non-DON and HC groups. A strengthened subnetwork with VN as the core was identified in the DON cohort. Significant correlations were found between network properties and clinical variables. For distinguishing DON, the combination of static and dynamic network properties exhibited optimal diagnostic performance. CONCLUSION Functional network alterations were observed both in DON and non-DON patients, providing novel insights into the underlying neural mechanisms of disease. Functional network properties may be potential biomarkers for reflecting the progression of TAO from non-DON to DON.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To investigate the pathological interplay between immunity and the visual processing system (VPS) in thyroid eye disease (TED). METHODS A total of 24 active patients (AP), 26 inactive patients (IP) of TED, and 27 healthy controls (HCs) were enrolled. Orbital magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and resting-state functional MRI (rs-fMRI) were conducted for each participant. Multiple MRI parameters of the intraorbital optic nerve (ON) were assessed. The amplitude of low-frequency fluctuations (ALFF) and regional homogeneity (ReHo) were calculated. Correlation analyses were carried out on the above parameters and clinical characteristics. RESULTS Visual functioning scores differentiated between the AP and IP groups. The ON subarachnoid space and ON sheath diameter were significantly higher in AP than in IP. Six vision-related brain regions were identified in TED patients compared with HCs, including right calcarine (CAL.R), right cuneus (CUN.R), left postcentral gyrus (PoCG.L), right middle temporal gyrus (MTG.R), left superior frontal gyrus (SFG.L), and left caudate (CAU.L). The brain activity of MTG.R, SFG.L, and CAU.L differentiated between the AP and IP groups. The correlation analysis revealed a close association among the vision-related brain regions, MRI parameters of ON, and clinical characteristics in AP and IP, respectively. CONCLUSIONS Combined orbital and brain neuroimaging revealed abnormalities of the VPS in TED, which had a close correlation with immune statuses. Vision-related brain regions in TED might be possibly altered by peripheral immunity via a direct or indirect approach. CLINICAL RELEVANCE STATEMENT The discovery of this study explained the disparity of visual dysfunction in TED patients with different immune statuses. With the uncovered neuroimaging markers, early detection and intervention of visual dysfunction could be achieved and potentially benefit TED patients. KEY POINTS • Patients with different immune statuses of thyroid eye disease varied in the presentation of visual dysfunction. • The combined orbital and brain neuroimaging study identified six altered vision-related brain regions, which had a significant correlation with the MRI parameters of the intraorbital optic nerve and immunological characteristics. • Peripheral immunity might possibly give rise to alterations in the central nervous system part of the visual processing system via a direct or indirect approach.

Abstract
Our objective was to explore the disparities in the intrinsic functional connectivity (FC) patterns of primary visual cortex (V1) between patients with thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy (TAO) and healthy controls (HCs) utilizing resting-state functional MRI. Twenty-one patients with TAO (14 males and 7 females; mean age: 54.17 ± 4.83 years) and 21 well-matched HCs (14 males and 7 females; mean age: 55.17 ± 5.37 years) underwent functional MRI scans in the resting-state. We assessed modifications in the intrinsic FC patterns of the V1 in TAO patients using the FC method. Subsequently, the identified alterations in FC regions in the analysis were selected as classification features to distinguish TAO patients from HCs through the support vector machine (SVM) method. The results indicated that, in comparison to HCs, patients with TAO exhibited notably reduced FC values between the left V1 and the bilateral calcarine (CAL), lingual gyrus (LING) and superior occipital gyrus, as well as between the right V1 and the bilateral CAL/LING and the right cerebellum. Furthermore, the SVM classification model based on FC maps demonstrated effective performance in distinguishing TAO patients from HCs, achieving an accuracy of 61.9% using the FC of the left V1 and 64.29% using the FC of the right V1. Our study revealed that patients with TAO manifested disruptions in FC between the V1 and higher visual regions during rest. This might indicate that TAO patients could present with impaired top-down modulations, visual imagery and vision-motor function. These insights could be valuable in understanding the underlying neurobiological mechanisms of vision impairment in individuals with TAO.

Abstract
Oxidative stress forms part of the molecular basis contributing to the development and manifestation of myopia, a refractive error with associated pathology that is increasingly prevalent worldwide and that subsequently leads to an upsurge in degenerative visual impairment due to conditions that are especially associated with high myopia. The purpose of our study was to examine the interrelation of potential oxidative-stress-related metabolites found in the aqueous humor of high-myopic, low-myopic, and non-myopic patients within a clinical study. We conducted a cross-sectional study, selecting two sets of patients undergoing cataract surgery. The first set, which was used to analyze metabolites through an NMR assay, comprised 116 patients. A total of 59 metabolites were assigned and quantified. The PLS-DA score plot clearly showed a separation with minimal overlap between the HM and control samples. The PLS-DA model allowed us to determine 31 major metabolite differences in the aqueous humor of the study groups. Complementary statistical analysis of the data allowed us to determine six metabolites that presented significant differences among the experimental groups (p < 005). A significant number of these metabolites were discovered to have a direct or indirect connection to oxidative stress linked with conditions of myopic eyes. Notably, we identified metabolites associated with bioenergetic pathways and metabolites that have undergone methylation, along with choline and its derivatives. The second set consisted of 73 patients who underwent a glutathione assay. Here, we showed significant variations in both reduced and oxidized glutathione in aqueous humor among all patient groups (p < 0.01) for the first time. Axial length, refractive status, and complete ophthalmologic examination were also recorded, and interrelations among metabolic and clinical parameters were evaluated.

Abstract
The current understanding of clinical approaches and barriers in managing childhood myopia among Indian optometrists is limited. This research underscores the necessity and relevance of evidence-based practice guidelines by exploring their knowledge, attitude, and practice towards childhood myopia. A self-administered internet-based 26-item survey was circulated online among practicing optometrists in India. The questions assessed the demographics, knowledge, self-reported clinical practice behavior, barriers, source of information guiding their management, and extent of adult caregiver engagement for childhood myopia. Of 393 responses, a significant proportion of respondents (32.6-92.4%) were unaware of the ocular complications associated with high myopia, with less than half (46.5%) routinely performing ocular biometry in clinical practice. Despite the growing awareness of emerging myopia management options, the uptake remains generally poor, with single-vision distance full-correction spectacles (70.3%) being the most common mode of vision correction. Barriers to adopting optimal myopia care are medicolegal concerns, absence of clinical practice guidelines, and inadequate consultation time. Own clinical experience and original research articles were the primary sources of information supporting clinical practice. Most (>70%) respondents considered involving the adult caregiver in their child's clinical decision-making process. While practitioners' awareness and activity of newer myopia management strategies are improving, there is plenty of scope for its enhancement. The importance of evidence-based practice guidelines and continuing education on myopia control might help practitioners enhance their clinical decision-making skills.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the brain structural and functional alterations in patients with thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy (TAO) before and after glucocorticoid therapy, using voxel-based morphometry (VBM) as well as resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation (ALFF) and regional homogeneity (ReHo). METHODS Between 2019 and 2022, 32 patients with TAO and 23 healthy controls underwent pre-therapy MRI in Nanjing, China. Intravenous glucocorticoid therapy was administered to all patients. At 3 months after end of therapy, 26 patients were available for rescanned MRI. VBM, ALFF, and ReHo were used to evaluate the brain structural and functional differences. RESULTS Before therapy, TAO patients showed significantly decreased gray matter volume (GMV) in the left orbital part of superior frontal gyrus (ORBsup) and medial superior frontal gyrus (SFGmed) than healthy controls. Patients had higher ALFF values in bilateral gyrus rectus and olfactory cortex and lower values in bilateral cuneus. Patients also showed decreased ReHo values in bilateral lingual gyrus. After therapy, increased GMV in the left anterior cingulate gyrus and SFGmed, increased ALFF values in bilateral cuneus and superior occipital gyrus, and increased ReHo values in bilateral SFGmed were found in TAO patients compared to the pre-therapy cohort. Compared to controls, decreased GMV in left ORBsup was observed in post-therapy TAO patients. CONCLUSION Our results indicated that TAO might cause functional and structural deficits in the visual and emotional regions of the brain, with recovery in the former and partial restoration in the latter after effective glucocorticoid therapy. These findings may lead to deeper understanding of the pathophysiological mechanism behind TAO.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Patients with thyroid-associated opthalmopathy (TAO) have widespread white matter (WM) abnormalities in the emotional and cognitive functional regions. However, the topological representation of these WM abnormalities and the network-level structural aberrations underlying TAO and concomitant affective disorders are still unclear. METHODS We used probabilistic diffusion tractography and graph theory to investigate brain network topology in 37 active, 35 inactive TAO patients and 23 healthy controls. Then, we evaluated the partial correlations between network topological metrics and clinical parameters. RESULTS For global topology, only active TAO patients exhibited significantly decreased global (Eglob) and local (Eloc) efficiency compared with controls, while no significant difference was observed between active and inactive TAO patients. For regional topology, we found a significantly decreased nodal efficiency in the left orbital superior frontal gyrus (ORBsup), medial orbital superior frontal gyrus (ORBsupmed), hippocampus and amygdala in active TAO patients compared with inactive ones. Intriguingly, Eglob, Eloc, and nodal efficiency of left ORBsup, ORBsupmed, olfactory cortex, gyrus rectus, hippocampus, right parahippocampal gyrus and amygdala had significantly positive correlations with anxiety/depression scores, bilateral exophthalmos and intraocular pressure in active TAO patients, while no significant correlation was observed in inactive TAO patients. LIMITATIONS No longitudinal follow-up. CONCLUSIONS WM networks of TAO are characterized by decreased local specialization and global integration in the active phase, and decreased nodal efficiency highly related to anxiety and depression in the emotional and cognitive regions. Our findings provide new insight regarding the neurobiological mechanisms of TAO and contribute to the treatment of concomitant affective disorders.

Abstract
Objectives: The study aims to explore the ocular biometry of a myopic population in Northern China, focusing specifically on anterior and posterior segment lengths. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study. The medical records of 3458 myopic patients who underwent refractive surgery were evaluated. Axial length (AL), anterior chamber depth (ACD), lens thickness (LT) and other biometric parameters were measured using the IOL Master 700. The study determined the anterior segment length (ASL = ACD + LT), the posterior segment length (PSL = AL - ASL) and the ratio of ASL to PSL (ASL/PSL). Results: This study included 3458 eyes from 3458 myopic patients (1171 men and 2287 women). The mean age was 27.38 ± 6.88, ranging from 16 to 48 years old. The mean ASL was 7.35 ± 0.27 mm, and the mean PSL was 18.39 ± 1.18 mm. The ASL and PSL trends demonstrate an age-related increase for both genders, with notable gender-specific variations. Across most age groups, males typically exhibited higher ASLs and PSLs than females, with the exception of the 35-40 and 40-45 age groups. The ASL and PSL consistently increased with a rising AL. The AL strongly correlates with the PSL and negatively correlates with the ASL/PSL ratio. The ACD and LT moderately correlate with the ASL, but an increased LT does not imply a longer posterior segment. The CCT and SE show little correlation with axial eye parameters. Conclusions: Among Chinese myopic patients, a longer ASL and PSL were correlated with older age and the male gender. The AL strongly correlates positively with the PSL and negatively correlates with the ASL/PSL ratio. An elongation of the posterior segment may primarily account for an eyeball's lengthening.

Abstract
Purpose To provide an overview of global publications on artificial intelligence (AI) in thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy (TAO) through bibliometric analysis. Methods Publications related to AI in TAO from inception until April 2023 were retrieved from the Web of Science database. The trends of publications and citations, publishing performance, collaboration among countries and institutions, and the funding agencies, relevant research domains, leading journals, hotspots and their evolution were identified. Results A total of 55 publications were included for analysis. The number of publications and citations continued to grow since 1998, with a significant acceleration of growth after 2020. China is the most productive country with the highest number of productive institutions, followed by the United States. European countries have the most extensive collaboration. The most relevant research domain was radiology, nuclear medicine & medical imaging. The European Journal of Radiology was one of the most productive journals, with the most influential articles published. "Thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy" and "neural network" maintain hotspots during the entire period. Studies were more focused on clinical features during 1998 and 2016, clinical features and medical data during 2017 and 2020, and medical data and AI techniques during 2021 and 2023. Conclusions This study summarized the global research status regarding AI in TAO in terms of trends, countries, institutions, research domains, journals, and key topics. AI has shown great potential in TAO. Sponsored by funding agencies such as NSFC, China has become the most productive country in the field of AI in TAO. Our findings help researchers better understand the development of this field and provide valuable clues for future research directions.

Abstract
The purpose of the current investigation was to elucidate what kinds of responsible mechanisms induce elongation of the sclera in myopic eyes. To do this, two-dimensional (2D) cultures of human scleral stromal fibroblasts (HSSFs) obtained from eyes with two different axial length (AL) groups, <26 mm (low AL group, n = 2) and >27 mm (high AL group, n = 3), were subjected to (1) measurements of Seahorse mitochondrial and glycolytic indices to evaluate biological aspects and (2) analysis by RNA sequencing. Extracellular flux analysis revealed that metabolic indices related to mitochondrial and glycolytic functions were higher in the low AL group than in the high AL group, suggesting that metabolic activities of HSSF cells are different depending the degree of AL. Based upon RNA sequencing of these low and high AL groups, the bioinformatic analyses using gene ontology (GO) enrichment analysis and ingenuity pathway analysis (IPA) of differentially expressed genes (DEGs) identified that sterol regulatory element-binding transcription factor 2 (SREBF2) is both a possible upstream regulator and a causal network regulator. Furthermore, SREBF1, insulin-induced gene 1 (INSIG1), and insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF1) were detected as upstream regulators, and protein tyrosine phosphatase receptor type O (PTPRO) was detected as a causal network regulator. Since those possible regulators were all pivotally involved in lipid metabolisms including fatty acid (FA), triglyceride (TG) and cholesterol (Chol) biosynthesis, the findings reported here indicate that FA, TG and Chol biosynthesis regulation may be responsible mechanisms inducing AL elongation via HSSF.

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine bilaterality and symmetry of posterior staphyloma (PS) in high myopic eyes. Methods: This cross-sectional and non-interventional study assessed 473 high myopic eyes [axial length (AL) ≥ 26 mm] of 259 patients. Patients underwent an ophthalmological examination including multimodal-imaging and myopic maculopathy grading according to Atrophic/Tractional/Neovascular (ATN) system, presence and subtype of PS, and severe pathologic myopia (PM). Bilaterality of PS and subtype's symmetry between eyes of the same patient was assessed. Four groups were analyzed: (1) bilateral vs. unilateral PS's eyes. Within bilateral group, symmetric vs. asymmetric subtypes according to (2) Curtin's classification, (3) Ohno-Matsui's classification, and (4) primary/compound subtypes. Results: Out of the total, 334 myopic eyes of 167 patients were included. The 92.8% (n = 310/334) of the eyes presented PS and was bilateral in 85.6% (n = 143/167) of the patients. Bilateral eyes showed significantly (p < 0.01) greater AL, severe PM, A and N components vs. unilateral PS. AL-difference between both eyes was greater in unilateral PS (p < 0.01). Among bilateral PS, the subtype was symmetric in 79 (55.2%), 84 (58.7%), and 115 (80.4%) patients according to Curtin's classification, Ohno-Matsui's classification, and primary/compound; respectively. The asymmetric group presented worse best-corrected visual acuity (p < 0.01), higher AL (p < 0.01), incidence of PM, and severe PM (p < 0.05). Conclusions: PS was bilateral in most of the patients without clinical differences between both eyes, being symmetrical in more than half of bilateral cases. Patients with bilateral PS showed higher myopic maculopathy, AL, and incidence of severe PM than unilateral PS.

Does PLEX ® Elite 9000 OCT Identify and Characterize Most Posterior Pole Lesions in Highly Myopic Patients? J Clin Med 2023; 12:jcm12051846. Abstract
High myopia (HM) is defined as an axial length (AL) ≥ 26 mm that may result in various pathologies that constitute pathologic myopia (PM). The PLEX® Elite 9000 (Carl Zeiss AC, Jena, Germany) is a new swept-source optical coherence tomography (SS-OCT) underdevelopment that allows wider, deeper and more detailed posterior-segment visualization; it can acquire ultra-wide OCT angiography (OCTA) or new ultra-wide high-density scans in one image. We assessed the technology's ability to identify/characterize/quantify staphylomas and posterior pole lesions or image biomarkers in highly myopic Spanish patients and estimate the technology's potential to detect macular pathology. The instrument acquired 6 × 6 OCTA, 12 × 12 or 6 × 6 OCT cubes, and at least two high-definition spotlight single scans. A hundred consecutive patients (179 eyes; age, 51.4 ± 16.8 years; AL, 28.8 ± 2.33 mm) were recruited in one center for this prospective observational study. Six eyes were excluded because images were not acquired. The most common alterations were perforating scleral vessels (88.8%), classifiable staphyloma (68.7%), vascular folds (43%), extrafoveal retinoschisis (24%), dome-shaped macula (15.6%), and more uncommonly, scleral dehiscence (4.46%), intrachoroidal cavitation (3.35%), and macular pit (2.2%). The retinal thickness of these patients decreased, and the foveal avascular zone increased in the superficial plexus compared with normal eyes. SS-OCT is a novel potent tool that can detect most main posterior pole complications in PM and may provide us with a better understanding of the associated pathologies; some pathologies were identifiable only with this new kind of equipment, such as perforating scleral vessels, which seem to be the most common finding and not so frequently related to choroidal neovascularization, as previously reported.

Abstract
Male and female adults exhibited significant group differences in brain white matter (WM) asymmetry and WM network controllability. However, gender differences in controllability of hemispheric WM networks between males and females remain to be determined. Based on 1 principal atlas and 1 replication atlas, this work characterized the average controllability (AC) and modal controllability (MC) of hemispheric WM network based on 1 principal dataset and 2 replication datasets. All results showed that males had higher AC of left hemispheric networks than females. And significant hemispheric asymmetry was revealed in regional AC and MC. Furthermore, significant gender differences in the AC asymmetry were mainly found in regions lie in the frontoparietal network, and the MC asymmetry was found in regions involving auditory and emotion process. Finally, we found significant associations between regional controllability and cognitive features. Taken together, this work could provide a novel perspective for understanding gender differences in hemispheric WM asymmetry and cognitive function between males and females.

Abstract
PURPOSE To describe anatomical peculiarities associated with axial elongation in the human myopic eye. METHODS Reviewing the results of previous histomorphometrical investigations of enucleated human globes, as well as reviewing findings obtained in population-based studies and hospital-based clinical investigations of myopic patients and non-myopic individuals. RESULTS Myopic axial elongation is associated with a change from a mostly spherical eye shape to a prolate ellipsoid form. It is combined with choroidal and scleral thinning, most pronounced at the posterior pole and less pronounced in the fundus midperiphery. In the fundus midperiphery, the retina and density of the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) and photoreceptors decrease with a longer axial length, while in the macular region, retinal thickness, RPE cell density, and choriocapillaris thickness are not related to axial length. With axial elongation, a parapapillary gamma zone develops, leading to an enlargement of the optic disc-fovea distance and a decrease in angle kappa. Axial elongation is also correlated with an increase in the surface and volume of Bruch's membrane (BM), while BM thickness remains unchanged. Axial elongation causes moderately myopic eyes to show a shift of BM opening to the foveal direction so that the horizontal disc diameter becomes shorter (with a consequent vertical ovalization of the optic disc shape), a temporal gamma zone develops, and the optic nerve exit takes an oblique course. Features of high myopia are an enlargement of the RPE opening (myopic parapapillary beta zone) and BM opening (secondary macrodisc), elongation and thinning of the lamina cribrosa, peripapillary scleral flange (parapapillary delta zone) and peripapillary choroidal border tissue, secondary BM defects in the macular region, myopic maculoschisis, macular neovascularization, and cobblestones in the fundus periphery. CONCLUSIONS These features combined may be explained by a growth in BM in the fundus midperiphery leading to axial elongation.

Abstract
Besides the well-documented ophthalmic manifestations, thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy (TAO) is believed to be related to emotional and psychological abnormalities. Given the previous neuroimaging evidence, we hypothesized that TAO patients would have altered neurovascular coupling associated with clinical-psychiatric disturbances. This study was to investigate neurovascular coupling changes in TAO by combining resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) and arterial spin labeling (ASL) techniques. Amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation (ALFF) was calculated from rs-fMRI, and cerebral blood flow (CBF) was computed from ASL in 37 TAO patients and 21 healthy controls (HCs). Global neurovascular coupling was assessed by across-voxel CBF-ALFF correlation, and regional neurovascular coupling was evaluated by CBF/ALFF ratio. Auxiliary analyses were performed using fractional ALFF (fALFF) and regional homogeneity (ReHo) as rs-fMRI measures. Compared with HCs, TAO patients showed significantly reduced global CBF-ALFF coupling. Moreover, TAO patients exhibited decreased CBF/ALFF ratio in the left lingual gyrus (LG)/fusiform gyrus (FFG), and increased CBF/ALFF ratio in the bilateral precuneus (PCu). In TAOs, CBF/ALFF ratio in the left LG/FFG was positively correlated with visual acuity, while CBF/ALFF ratio in the bilateral PCu was negatively correlated with Montreal Cognitive Assessment score. The auxiliary analyses showed trends of reduced global neurovascular coupling (i.e., CBF-fALFF correlation and CBF-ReHo correlation), as well as significant altered regional neurovascular coupling (i.e., CBF/fALFF ratio and CBF/ReHo ratio) in several brain regions. These findings indicated that TAO patients had altered neurovascular coupling in the visual and higher-order cognitive cortices. The neurovascular decoupling might be a possible neuropathological mechanism of TAO.

ObjectiveThe aim of this study was to determine whether the visual pathway is affected by thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy (TAO) before the development of dysthyroid optic neuropathy (DON) with diffusion tensor imaging (DTI).Materials and methodsFifty-seven TAO patients (22 mild, 35 moderate-severe TAO) and 30 healthy controls (HCs) were included. The DTI parameters of the lateral geniculate (LG) and optic radiation (OR) were measured. A full ophthalmic examination such as intraocular pressure, exophthalmos, and visual acuity was performed. Clinical activity scores (CAS) were also calculated. One-way ANOVA and Pearson's correlation were carried out. A binary logistic regression was used to identify variables that can diagnose TAO.ResultsModerate-severe TAO patients showed significantly lower fractional anisotropy (FA) and higher mean diffusivity (MD) than HCs for both LG and OR (p < 0.05). FA of OR was negatively correlated with CAS and intraocular pressure (p < 0.05). Multivariate analysis showed that FA of LG and FA of OR were a significant predictor for the diagnosis TAO.ConclusionDiffusion tensor imaging parameters of the visual pathway were significantly altered in moderate-severe TAO patients. The FA of LG, in particular, can be used as a sensitive imaging biomarker for assessing subclinical visual pathway damage in TAO.

Abstract
Background Thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy (TAO) is a common and organ-specific autoimmune disease. Early diagnosis and novel treatments are essential to improve the prognosis of TAO patients. Therefore, the current work was performed to identify the key genes and pathways for the biological and clinical implications of TAO through comprehensive bioinformatics analysis and a series of clinical validations. Methods GSE105149 and GSE185952 were obtained from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database for analysis. The data were normalized to identify the common differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between the two datasets, and the Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) enrichment analyses were conducted to assess key pathways in TAO. Protein–protein interaction (PPI) networks and hub genes among the common DEGs were identified. Furthermore, we collected the general information and blood samples from 50 TAO patients and 20 healthy controls (HCs), and the expression levels of the proteins encoded by hub genes in serum were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Then we further assessed the relationship between the ELISA data and the TAO development. Results Several common pathways, including neuroactive ligand-receptor interaction, the IL-17 signaling pathway, and the TNF signaling pathway, were identified in both datasets. In parallel, 52 common DEGs were identified. The KEGG analysis showed that these common DEGs are mainly enriched in long-term depression, the VEGF signaling pathway, the IL-17 signaling pathway, the TNF signaling pathway, and cytokine-cytokine receptor interactions. The key hub genes PRKCG, OSM, DPP4, LRRTM1, CXCL6, and CSF3R were screened out through the PPI network. As confirmation, the ELISA results indicated that protein expression levels of PRKCG, OSM, CSF3R, and DPP4 were significantly upregulated in TAO patients compared with HCs. In addition, PRKCG and DPP4 were verified to show value in diagnosing TAO, and CSF3R was found to be a valuable diagnostic marker in distinguishing active TAO from inactive TAO. Conclusions Inflammation- and neuromodulation-related pathways might be closely associated with TAO. Based on the clinical verification, OSM, CSF3R, CXCL6, DPP4, and PRKCG may serve as inflammation- or neuromodulation-related biomarkers for TAO, providing novel insights for the diagnosis and treatment of TAO. Purpose Thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy (TAO) is a vision threatening autoimmune and inflammatory orbital disease, and has been reported to be associated with a wide range of structural and functional abnormalities of bilateral hemispheres. However, whether the interhemisphere functional connectivity (FC) of TAO patients is altered still remain unclear. Methods A total of 21 TAO patients (14 males and 7 females) and 21 wellmatched healthy controls (HCs, 14 males and 7 females), respectively, underwent functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) scanning in the resting state. We evaluated alterations in the resting state functional connectivity between hemispheres by applying VMHC method and then selected these abnormal brain regions as seed areas for subsequent study using FC method. Furthermore, the observed changes of regions in the VMHC analysis were chosen as classification features to differentiate patients with TAO from HCs through support vector machine (SVM) method. Results The results showed that compared with HCs, TAO patients showed significantly lower VMHC values in the bilateral postcentral gyrus, lingual gyrus, calcarine, middle temporal gyrus, middle occipital gyrus and angular. Moreover, significantly decreased FC values were found between the right postcentral gyrus/lingual gyrus/calcarine and left lingual gyrus/cuneus/superior occipital gyrus, left postcentral gyrus/lingual gyrus/calcarine and right lingual gyrus/ middle temporal gyrus, right middle temporal gyrus and left cerebellum-8/lingual gyrus/middle occipital gyrus/supplementary motor area, left middle temporal gyrus and right middle occipital gyrus, right middle occipital gyrus/angular and left middle temporal pole (voxel-level p < 0.01, Gaussian random field correction, cluster-level p < 0.05). The SVM classification model achieved good performance in differentiating TAO patients from HCs (total accuracy: 73.81%; area under the curve: 0.79). Conclusion The present study revealed that the altered interhemisphere interaction and integration of information involved in cognitive and visual information processing pathways including the postcentral gyrus, cuneus, cerebellum, angular, widespread visual cortex and temporal cortex in patients with TAO relative to HC group. VMHC variability had potential value for accurately and specifically distinguishing patients with TAO from HCs. The new findings may provide novel insights into the neurological mechanisms underlying visual and cognitive disorders in patients with TAO.

Abstract
Background and Purpose Although previous neuroimaging studies have demonstrated emotion- and psychology-associated brain abnormalities in patients with thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy (TAO), the changes of brain functional connectivity in TAO were seldom focused. We aimed to investigate interregional and intraregional functional interactions in patients with TAO by using resting-state functional MRI (rs-fMRI) with long- and short-range functional connectivity density (FCD) analysis. Methods Thirty patients with TAO and 30 well-matched healthy controls (HCs) were recruited in our study. Long- and short-range FCD values were calculated and compared between the two groups. Correlations between long- and short-range FCD values and clinical indicators were analyzed. Results Compared with HCs, patients with showed both increased long- and short-range FCDs in the left middle frontal gyrus (MFG), orbital part of superior frontal gyrus (ORBsup), and dorsolateral part of superior frontal gyrus (SFGdor); meanwhile, both decreased long- and short-range FCDs in bilateral postcentral gyrus (PoCG), left superior parietal gyrus (SPG), and inferior parietal (IPL). In addition, patients with TAO showed increased short-range FCD in the right SFGdor, bilateral medial part of superior frontal gyrus (SFGmed), left orbital part of middle frontal gyrus (ORBmid), and orbital part of inferior frontal gyrus (ORBinf), as well as decreased short-range FCD in the right supplementary motor area (SMA) and the left paracentral lobule (PCL) than HCs. Moreover, the short-range value in the left SFGdor showed a negative correlation with Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) score (r = −0.501, p = 0.005). Conclusion Our findings complemented the functional neural mechanism of TAO, and provided potential neuroimaging markers for assessing the psychiatric, visual, and emotional disturbances in patients with TAO.

Abstract
BackgroundIncreasing evidence has proved that chronic ankle instability (CAI) is highly related to the central nervous system (CNS). However, it is still unclear about the inherent cerebral activity among the CAI patients.PurposeTo investigate the differences of intrinsic functional cerebral activity between the CAI patients and healthy controls (HCs) and further explore its correlation with clinical measurement in CAI patients.Materials and MethodsA total of 25 CAI patients and 39 HCs were enrolled in this study. Resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) was used to detect spontaneous cerebral activity. The metrics of amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation (ALFF), fractional ALFF (fALFF), and regional homogeneity (ReHo) of the two groups were compared by two-sample t-test. The brain regions that demonstrated altered functional metrics were selected as the regions of interest (ROIs). The functional connectivity (FC) was analyzed based on the ROIs. The Spearman correlation was calculated between rs-fMRI metrics and clinical scale scores.ResultsCompared with HCs, CAI patients showed higher ALFF and ReHo values in the right postcentral gyrus, the right precentral gyrus, and the right middle frontal gyrus, while lower fALFF values in the orbital-frontal cortex (OFC, p < 0.01 after correction). Increasing FC between the right precentral gyrus and the right postcentral gyrus while decreasing FC between the right precentral gyrus and the anterior cingulum cortex (ACC), the right middle frontal gyrus and the left middle temporal gyrus, and the OFC and left inferior parietal lobule (IPL) was observed. In addition, in the CAI group, the ReHo value negatively correlated with the Cumberland Ankle Instability Tool score in the right middle frontal gyrus (r = −0.52, p = 0.007).ConclusionThe CAI patients exhibited enhanced and more coherent regional inherent neuronal activity within the sensorimotor network while lower regional inherent activity in pain/emotion modulation related region. In addition, the information exchanges were stronger within the sensorimotor network while weaker between distant interhemispheric regions. Besides, the increased inherent activity in the right middle frontal gyrus was related to clinical severity. These findings may provide insights into the pathophysiological alteration in CNS among CAI patients.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Previous studies demonstrated that thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy (TAO) patients were accompanied by cognitive decline. However, The exact neural mechanisms of cognitive decline in TAO patients remain unclear. Our study aimed to investigate the spontaneous brain activity alterations using amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation (ALFF) method and their relationships with clinical features in TAO patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS In total, twenty-one patients with TAO (14 men and 7 women) and 21 healthy control (HC) subjects (14 men and 7 women) were enrolled in this study. The ALFF method was used to assess the spontaneous brain activity changes. Meanwhile, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was used to distinguish TAO group and HCs group. And Pearson correlation was performed to calculate the relationship between the observed mean ALFF values of the altered regions in patients with TAO and their clinical features. RESULTS Compared with the HCs, TAO patients had significantly lower ALFF values in the right superior occipital gyrus (SOG) and bilateral precuneus (preCUN). In contrast, TAO patients showed higher ALFF values in the left cerebellum (CER) and left insula (INS). CONCLUSION our result highlighted that TAO patients showed altered intrinsic brain activities in the preCUN, left CER, left INS and right SOG, which might provide useful information for explaining neural mechanisms in patients with TAO.
