[Indexed: 01/13/2023]
Abstract
In this epidemic of acute glomerulonephritis in Hawaii 71 per cent of the children had a preceding streptococcal infection. While this precursor was pharyngitis in the majority, impetigo seemed an equally important source. Early antibiotic administration attenuated ASO titers and seemed to be beneficial. Many of the clinical findings resembled those of pre viously reported glomerulonephritis epidemics associated with impetigo.

Abstract
In this epidemic an association of acute glomerulonephritis with pyoderma and pharyngitis is noted. Group A β-hemo lytic streptococci were recovered from 40 per cent of the patients.
