Abstract
This issue of The Diabetes Educator contains abstracts of presentations to be made at the AADE Annual Meeting in Seattle, Washington, August 23-26. Chairperson Carolyn Sannar, ARNP, CDE, and her committee have planned an outstanding program built around the theme "Unity: Sharing the Challenge." The program format specifically addresses the evaluation comments of last year's participants by empha sizing intensified content areas and more interactive opportunities.Publication of the abstracts prior to the meeting serves sev eral purposes. It allows conference participants to tailor their learning experience to their individual needs. It provides a referential record of the meeting's proceedings. It identifies experts and provides references to the literature for more detailed reading. Finally, it gives those readers who are unable to attend the Annual Meeting a taste of the intellectual stimulation and educational exchange that is the heart of the AADE experience. Reading, however, will never replace the intellectual stimulation of a "live" presentation. So we hope as many of you as possible will be in Seattle to hear the pre sentations, ask questions, and share ideas and experiences.See you there.—Carol E. Malcom, RN, CDE
