Abstract
BACKGROUND This systematic review and meta-analysis assesses the association of arterial stiffness with age-related macular degeneration (AMD), glaucoma, retinal vein occlusion (RVO) and retinopathy (diabetic and hypertensive). METHODS Medline and Embase were systematically searched for observational studies of arterial stiffness and eye disease. Cohort studies were included if they estimated arterial stiffness using any measures based on the arterial waveform, with cross-sectional and case-control studies limited to measures of pulse wave velocity. We assessed the certainty of evidence using Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development and Evaluation. RESULTS The systematic review of 61 studies (six for AMD, ten for glaucoma, six for RVO and 39 for retinopathy) showed that arterial stiffness overall was higher in people with eye disease than people without eye disease. Forty-four cross-sectional and case-control studies were included in the meta-analysis. Arterial stiffness estimated by way of pulse wave velocity was associated with AMD (mean difference: 0.92 m/s, 95% CI 0.37 to 1.46; 2 studies; n=381; low certainty evidence), glaucoma (mean difference: 0.97 m/s, 95% CI 0.31 to 1.64; 7 studies; n=3418; low certainty evidence), RVO (mean difference: 2.79 m/s, 95% CI 2.02 to 3.55; 5 studies; n=414; very low certainty evidence) and retinopathy (1.48 m/s, 95% CI 0.1.16 to 1.81; 22 studies; n=10 074; low certainty evidence). The 19 cohort studies identified (five for AMD, three for glaucoma, one for RVO and 10 for retinopathy) indicated overall that increased arterial stiffness was associated with the future development of eye disease. Abstract
CLINICAL RELEVANCE Vitreous floaters have been associated with depressive and anxiety symptoms. However, there is a scarcity in the literature regarding the possible impact of vitreous flashes on the psychological status of the patients. BACKGROUND Photopsias and vitreous floaters frequently co-exist. Floaters have been accompanied by exacerbated levels of depression and anxiety. The aim of this study was to examine whether the presence of photopsias in patients suffering from vitreous floaters is accompanied by exacerbated levels of anxiety and depression. METHODS One hundred and four patients complaining of floaters were included in the study; 51 experienced also photopsias and 53 did not. A comprehensive ocular examination, including funduscopy and optical coherence tomography scans was performed to every patient, while their clinical and demographic data were also assessed. Every participant completed the PHQ-9, the Zung SDS, and the HADS anxiety and depression questionnaires. RESULTS The clinical and demographic data did not differ significantly between the study groups (p > 0.05).The scores of every questionnaire were significantly higher among the patients with vitreous flashes (p < 0.05 for all). After adjustment for several confounders, the values remained significantly impaired. CONCLUSION Photopsias negatively affect the psychological and mental well-being of the patients, by the terms of amplified levels of depression and anxiety. These findings underscore the necessity for a more holistic approach to managing patients presenting with vitreous flashes.

Abstract
Background: Retinal vein occlusion (RVO) is a relatively uncommon condition with a complex pathophysiology. However, its association with traditional cardiovascular risk factors is well established. In this study, we compared arterial stiffness and endothelial function between patients with RVO and healthy controls. Methods: We enrolled 28 consecutive patients with RVO, either central (CRVO) or branch (BRVO), and 30 healthy controls. We measured: (i) perfused boundary region of the sublingual arterial microvessels (a marker of endothelial glycocalyx thickness), (ii) pulse wave velocity (PWV), augmentation index (AIx), and central systolic blood pressure (cSBP). Results: No statistically significant differences regarding age, gender, and major cardiovascular risk factors were noted between patients and controls. Compared to controls, patients with RVO had higher PBR, PWV, AIx, and cSBP values (p < 0.05). For each of these indices, no statistically significant differences were noted between patients with CRVO and BRVO (p > 0.05). Conclusions: Patients with RVO demonstrated reduced endothelial glycocalyx thickness and increased arterial stiffness compared to healthy controls. These findings further elucidate the role of atherosclerosis and endothelial dysfunction in the pathophysiology of the disease and indicate the need for the evaluation of subclinical cardiovascular disease in such patients.

Abstract
BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES To investigate the potential association between the endothelial dysfunction and arterial stiffness with retinal changes observed through optical coherence tomography (OCT) and OCT-angiography (OCT-A) in patients with retinal vein occlusion (RVO). METHODS Participants in this cross-sectional study were 28 patients with RVO. The demographic and clinical characteristics of all participants were recorded. Comprehensive ophthalmologic examinations were performed, including fundus photography, OCT and OCT-A. Endothelial dysfunction was assessed by measuring the endothelial glycocalyx thickness via the perfused boundary region (PBR5-25). Arterial stiffness was evaluated by measuring the carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity (PWV), the central systolic and diastolic blood pressures (cSBP and cDBP) and the augmentation index (Aix). For each ophthalmological outcome, we generated a saturated linear regression model with demographic and systemic vascular parameters serving as independent variables. Regression coefficients with the corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were reported. A p value < 0.05 was considered as statistically significant. RESULTS A 1 m/s increase in PWV was associated with a 0.6% reduction in inferior macular vessel density (VD) (p = 0.050). A 10 mmHg increase in cSBP was associated with a 0.03 mm2 increase in foveal avascular zone (FAZ) area (p = 0.033). A 1% increase in Aix was associated with a 0.005 mm2 increase in FAZ area (p = 0.008). A 1 μm increase in PBR5-25 was associated, on average, with a 4.4% decrease in superior peripapillary VD (p = 0.027). CONCLUSIONS In patients with RVO, structural and microvascular retinal parameters were significantly associated with markers of endothelial dysfunction and arterial stiffness.

Abstract
This study aims to explore the link between retinal vein occlusion (RVO), a blinding ocular condition, and alterations in gut microbiota composition, to offer insights into the pathogenesis of RVO. Fecal samples from 25 RVO patients and 11 non-RVO individuals were analyzed using 16S rRNA sequencing and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS). Significant differences in the abundance of gut microbial species were noted between RVO and non-RVO groups. At the phylum level, the RVO group showed an elevation in the ratio of Firmicutes to Bacteroidetes. At the genus level, the RVO group showed higher abundance in Escherichia_Shigella (P < 0.05) and less abundance in Parabacteroides (P < 0.01) than the non-RVO group. Functional predictions indicated reduced folate synthesis, biotin metabolism, and oxidative phosphorylation, with an increase in butyric acid metabolism in the RVO group. LC-MS analysis showed significant differences in purine metabolism, ABC transporters, and naphthalene degradation pathways, especially purine metabolism. Pearson correlation analysis revealed significant associations between bacterial genera and fecal metabolites. Enrichment analysis highlighted connections between specific metabolites and bacterial genera. The findings showed that the dysregulation of gut microbiota was observed in RVO patients, suggesting the gut microbiota as a potential therapeutic target. Modulating the gut microbiota could be a novel strategy for managing RVO and improving patient outcomes. Furthermore, the study findings suggest the involvement of gut microbial dysbiosis in RVO development, underscoring the significance of understanding its pathogenesis for effective treatment development. IMPORTANCE Retinal vein occlusion (RVO) is a blinding ocular condition, and understanding its pathogenesis is crucial for developing effective treatments. This study demonstrates significant differences in gut microbiota composition between RVO patients and non-RVO individuals, implicating the involvement of gut microbial dysbiosis in RVO development. Functional predictions and metabolic profiling provide insights into the underlying mechanisms, highlighting potential pathways for therapeutic intervention. These findings suggest that modulating the gut microbiota might be a promising strategy for managing RVO and improving patient outcomes.

Abstract
Associations between migraine and retinal vascular occlusion have been reported, but there is no large-scale and comprehensive study. Therefore, we aimed to determine risks of retinal vascular occlusion in patients with migraine. Using the Taiwan National Health Insurance Research Database from 2009 to 2020, we enrolled 628,760 patients with migraine and 628,760 matched individuals without migraine. Study outcomes were diagnoses of retinal vascular occlusion, including retinal artery occlusion (RAO) and retinal vein occlusion (RVO). Adjusted hazard ratio (aHR) of retinal vascular occlusion related to migraine was estimated. The cumulative incidences of subsequent retinal vascular occlusion, RAO, and RVO were significantly higher in migraine patients compared with controls (0.31% vs. 0.21%; 0.09% vs. 0.05%; 0.22% vs. 0.17%; all p < 0.001). The hazards of retinal vascular occlusion, RAO, and RVO were significantly greater in the migraine group (aHR, 1.69 [95% CI, 1.57, 1.83], 2.13 [95% CI, 1.84, 2.48] and 1.53 [95% CI, 1.40, 1.68], respectively). Risks of retinal vascular occlusion were significantly higher in migraine both with aura (MA) and without aura (MO) (aHR, 1.77 [95% CI, 1.58, 1.98], and 1.92 [95% CI, 1.64, 2.25]). Among patients with migraine, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, propranolol, and flunarizine significantly reduce their risks of retinal vascular occlusion (aHR, 0.19 [95% CI, 0.16, 0.22], 0.73 [95% CI, 0.62, 0.86], 0.84 [95% CI, 0.76, 0.93]). Migraine, MA and MO are independently associated with higher risks of retinal vascular occlusion, RAO, and RVO.

Abstract
Our aim was to assess whether systemic endothelial dysfunction, evaluated non-invasively by flow mediated dilation (FMD), is associated with diabetic macular edema (DME) and to determine if it is further impaired in patients with diffuse-DME. Consecutive patients (n = 84) with type-2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and diabetic retinopathy were enrolled. DME was not present in 38 (non-DME) and present in 46 patients; 25 with focal and 21 with diffuse-DME. No differences were detected between DME and non-DME groups regarding the clinical and demographic characteristics, except for the age of T2DM initiation (lower in non-DME). FMD values were significantly impaired in DME compared with non-DME patients, even after adjustment for multiple covariates (3.56 ± 1.03 vs 4.57 ± 1.25%, P = .003). Among DME patients, no differences were found concerning the clinical and demographic data, while FMD levels were significantly lower in diffuse-DME patients, compared with the focal-DME ones, regardless of the impact several confounders (2.88 ± 0.65 vs 4.08 ± 0.95%, P = .002). It is noteworthy that FMD values of non-DME and focal-DME patients did not differ significantly (4.52 ± 1.24 vs 4.21 ± 1.06%, P = .307). Moreover, among DME patients, impaired FMD was an independent predictor of diffuse-DME (odds ratio: 0.06, 95% CI 0.01-0.47, P = .007).

Abstract
PURPOSE To evaluate the levels of anxiety and depression in patients with symptomatic vitreous floaters and to determine the possible correlations of psychological implications with the symptoms duration and possible improvement, the degree of posterior vitreous detachment, and the discomfort severity. METHODS Ninety patients complaining for floaters and fifty-seven age- and gender-matched healthy-control subjects were recruited. Every participant underwent a complete ophthalmological examination, including funduscopy and optical coherence tomography scans, while clinical and demographic data were also gathered. The Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), the Zung Depression Inventory-Self-Rating Depression Scale (Zung SDS), and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) were completed by everyone. RESULTS Between the studied groups, no significant differences were detected regarding the clinical and demographic data (p > 0.05). The patients with floaters had significantly higher scores of PHQ-9, Zung SDS, HADS Anxiety, and HADS Depression (p < 0.001). After adjustment for several confounders, PHQ-9 (p = 0.041), Zung SDS (p = 0.003), and HADS Anxiety (p = 0.036) values remained significantly impaired. Among the patients, PHQ-9 and Zung SDS scores were significantly elevated in the patients with floaters duration less than 4 weeks (p < 0.05). Finally, anxiety and depression were significantly correlated with the symptoms duration and intensity, with the floater-associated discomfort, and with the stage of posterior vitreous detachment. CONCLUSION Vitreous floaters have a negative impact on patients' psychological status, by the terms of enhanced depressive and anxiety levels. To the best of our knowledge, our study is the first in the literature to elaborate the aforementioned association, by assessing three different questionnaires simultaneously.

Abstract
Purpose This cross-sectional study aimed to clarify the differences in the retinal venous narrowing ratio (VNR) at retinal arteriovenous crossing by optical coherence tomography (OCT) among the eyes with branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO), fellow eyes of patients with BRVO, and eyes of individuals without BRVO and to determine factors that influence the VNR. Methods We studied 31 eyes of young participants, 54 eyes of an older control group, 56 fellow eyes of patients with BRVO, and 48 eyes with BRVO. Cross-sectional OCT images were used to determine the VNR at two arteriovenous crossings per eye. Results Overall, 378 arteriovenous crossings were analyzed. The VNR of arterial overcrossings of fellow eyes (27.7% ± 11.1%) and BRVO eyes (27.3% ± 9.76%) were significantly higher than those in the young (16.0% ± 7.9%, all P < 0.001) and control (22.0% ± 8.81%, P < 0.001, P = 0.003, respectively) groups. The VNR of arterial overcrossings was significantly larger than that of venous overcrossings (24.0% ± 10.5% vs. 20.6% ± 13.0%, P = 0.021). A linear mixed-effects model showed that the VNR was significantly higher in arterial overcrossings, crossings with larger arterial internal diameters, smaller venous internal diameters, and participants with older age and a BRVO history. Conclusions The VNR in arterial overcrossings was higher in BRVO eyes and even in the fellow eyes. Thus, a higher VNR in arterial overcrossings may contribute to BRVO development, and crossings with factors contributing to higher VNR might be associated with a risk of BRVO.

Abstract
Background and Aims: Recent reports suggest that results from imaging retinal microvascular changes with optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) in dementia patients reflect cerebral microcirculation changes that occur during dementia. Macula microvascular impairment has been shown in dementia patients compared to controls, but very little is known about its correlation with radiological visual rating scores associated with dementia. We aimed to explore the association between retinal microvasculature and radiological visual rating in early-onset dementia (EOD) patients. Methods: Swept-source OCTA (SS-OCTA) was used to image the retinal microvasculature of all EOD patients. Automated software in the OCTA tool segmented and measured the densities in the superficial vascular plexus (SVC) and deep vascular plexus (DVC) and foveal avascular zone (FAZ) areas. Radiological visual rating scores were evaluated on all MR images. Results: Medial temporal lobe atrophy (MTA) scores significantly correlated with FAZ area (p = 0.031) in EOD patients after adjusting for risk factors. PWMH correlated with SVC (p = 0.032) while DWMH significantly correlated with SVC (p = 0.007), DVC (p = 0.018) and FAZ (p = 0.001) in EOD patients. Discussion: FAZ changes correlated with MTA scores in EOD patients, while retinal microvasculature correlated with white matter hyperintensity. Our report suggests that microvascular changes in the retina may reflect cortical changes in the brain of EOD patients.

Abstract
PURPOSE To evaluate the possible associations between AGER (rs1051993, rs2070600) and ALDH2 (rs671) gene polymorphisms with nonproliferative (NPDR) and proliferative (PDR) diabetic retinopathy, in a well-defined Greek population. MATERIALS 66 NPDR patients and 57 PDR patients participated in our study, along with 156 age- and gender-matched healthy-control subjects (CL). All the participants underwent a complete ophthalmological examination, while clinical and demographic data were collected. Furthermore, they were genotyped for the studied polymorphisms. RESULTS No significant differences were detected among the studied groups regarding the participants' age and gender status. We found that the ALDH2 AA genotype was significantly more frequent in PDR patients than in CL (p = 0.014). Furthermore, between NPDR and PDR groups, the AGER rs1051993 GT and TT genotype frequencies were significantly elevated in PDR patients (p < 0.0001 and 0.04, respectively). Moreover, we demonstrated that the heterozygous GT genotype in DR patients is accompanied by 71.11 times higher risk of developing PDR (OR = 71.11: 95% CI- 4.14-1215.2), while the homozygous TT genotype is associated with 12.71 times elevated risk for PDR development (OR = 12.71: 95% CI- 0.63-254.1). CONCLUSIONS We documented that the ALDH2 AA and AGER rs1051993 GT and TT genotypes were observed significantly more frequently in PDR Greek diabetic patients. Our findings also support the genetic theory, suggesting that heritability is significantly implicated in the development of DR, providing additional evidence in the understanding of DR pathogenesis.

Abstract
Retinal vein occlusion (RVO) is the second most prevalent retinal disease. Despite this, the pathogenic mechanisms and risk factors are not entirely clear. In this article, we review recent publications on the classification, pathogenesis, risk factors, ischemic changes, cytokines, and vital complications of RVO. Risk factors and cytokines are important for exploring the mechanisms and new treatment targets. Furthermore, risk factors are interrelated, making RVO mechanisms more complex. Cytokines act as powerful mediators of pathological conditions, such as inflammation, neovascularization, and macular edema. This review aims to summarize the updated knowledge on risk factors, cytokines of RVO and signaling in order to provide valuable insight on managing the disease.

Abstract
Retinal vein occlusion (RVO) is the second most common retinal vascular disorder, after diabetic retinopathy. Most patients suffering RVO develop some degree of visual loss consequent to retinal complications such as edema and microhemorrhages. Even if some risk factors for RVO have been identified, the clinical outcome of RVO remains highly unpredictable because studies investigating potential prognostic markers for visual improvement are lacking. Cyanocobalamin belongs to the group of B vitamins and plays a role in homocysteine metabolism; however, cyanocobalamin deficiency associates with an increase of some toxic bioproducts involved in endothelial injury and platelet activation independent of homocysteine levels. We retrospectively evaluated the levels of vitamin B12 at diagnosis in 203 patients with RVO, and in a parallel cohort of 120 age- and sex-matched patients without RVO from an internal medicine ward, and correlated them with visual outcome at follow-up (median time 150 days, IQR 30-210). In patients with RVO, vitamin B12 levels at diagnosis were significantly lower than in controls and independently predicted worse clinical outcome at multivariate analysis (OR 3.2; CIs 1.2-8.2; p = 0.015). Our data suggest the opportunity to prospectively evaluate the effect on visual outcome of cyanocobalamin supplementation in RVO patients.

Abstract
Central retinal artery occlusion (CRAO) is an emergency state characterized by sudden, painless vision impairment. Patients with CRAO have an increased risk of cardiovascular events, including stroke, likely related to vascular endothelial damage. Therefore, we investigated flow-mediated dilatation (FMD) of the brachial artery as a marker of endothelial dysfunction, intima-media complex thickness (IMT) of the common carotid artery, pointing to the arterial wall atherosclerotic alteration, and transthoracic echocardiographic parameters in 126 consecutive CRAO patients (66 men [52.4%], median age 55 years) and 107 control participants (56 men [52.3%], matched by age, sex, and body mass index). Most CRAO patients (n = 104, 82.5%) had at least one internal medicine comorbidity, mainly hypercholesterolemia and hypertension, which coexisted in one-fourth of them. Furthermore, they had a 38.2% lower relative increase of FMD (FMD%) and a 23.1% thicker IMT compared to the controls (p < 0.001, both, also after adjustment for potential confounders). On echocardiography, the CRAO group was characterized by increased dimensions of the left atrium and thicker left ventricular walls, together with impaired left ventricular diastolic function. CRAO is related to vascular endothelial damage, atherosclerosis, and left ventricular diastolic cardiac dysfunction. Thus, non-invasive ultrasound assessments, such as FMD%, IMT, and echocardiography, may be helpful in screening patients with increased CRAO risk, particularly those with other comorbidities.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Several genetic polymorphisms have been identified as risk factors for diabetic retinopathy (DR) onset. The purpose of our study was to determine whether ADIPOQ rs1501299 and rs2241766 gene polymorphisms are associated with DR in a cohort of Greek diabetic patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS 218 patients with type-2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) were included in the study; 109 suffered from DR and 109 not. All the participants underwent a complete ophthalmological examination, while clinical and demographic data were assessed. Furthermore, they were genotyped for G276T (rs1501299) and T45G (rs2241766) single nucleotide polymorphisms of ADIPOQ gene. RESULTS Between the studied groups, no significant differences were detected regarding the demographic and clinical data (p > .05 for all), except for hemoglobin A1c levels and frequency of insulin treatment (higher in DR patients). We detected that the frequency of rs1501299 GT genotype was significantly elevated in DR patients (53% vs. 34%, p = .004) and was associated with a higher risk of developing retinopathy (OR 2.31, 95% CI 1.30-4.11). Furthermore, we demonstrated that the rs1501299 GT genotype was significantly and independently associated with increased odds for DR development in diabetic subjects (OR 2.68, 95% CI 1.38-5.21, p = .004), regardless of the impact of other known risk factors. CONCLUSIONS We documented that rs1501299 GT genotype could be recognized as an independent risk factor of retinopathy in T2DM Greek patients, while no role for rs2241766 polymorphism was identified. Further research in different ethnic groups will clarify the exact association of these polymorphisms with the risk of DR development.

Quantitative analysis and clinical application of iris circulation in ischemic retinal disease. BMC Ophthalmol 2021; 21:393. Abstract
BACKGROUND To evaluate quantitative changes in iris blood circulation in patients with ischemic risk. METHODS This observational case-control study included 79 patients with diabetic retinopathy (DR) and retinal vein occlusion (RVO). The RVO group included 21 patients; the monocular proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR) group included 19 patients; the nondiabetic retinopathy (NDR) group included 18 patients; and the healthy control group included 21 healthy controls. In the RVO group, we analyzed RVO affected eyes, RVO contralateral eyes, and healthy control eyes. We also compared eyes with PDR and contralateral eyes without PDR, patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) without DR, and healthy control eyes. The microvascular networks of the iris and retina were analyzed using optical coherence tomography angiography. The analysis included vessel area density (VAD) and vessel skeleton density (VSD) of iris and retina. RESULTS In the RVO group, the VAD and VSD of iris in the affected eye were higher than those in contralateral and healthy control eyes, and the VAD and VSD of contralateral eyes were higher than those of healthy control eyes. The retinal blood flow of the RVO eyes was less than that of the contralateral and healthy control eyes, but there were no difference between the contralateral eyes and healthy control eyes. The VAD and VSD of iris in PDR were larger than nonproliferative diabetic retinopathy (NPDR) and the NPDR were larger than NDR. There were no differences between NDR and healthy control eyes. Also, there were no differences among the four groups with respect to retinal blood flow. CONCLUSIONS Compared with the retina, iris blood circulation quantitative analysis data seem to be more sensitive to ischemia and may be used as a new predictor of ischemic disease, even if further research is needed to better understand the clinical value and importance of this analysis. Abstract
Retinal vein occlusion (RVO) is associated with atherosclerotic cardiovascular risk factors; however, its association with the specific markers of subclinical atherosclerosis has not yet been established. To investigate this association, we compared 70 patients with RVO to 70 age- and sex-matched patients without RVO. Low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels and brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV) were significantly higher in the RVO group than in the control group. Carotid plaques (54.3% vs. 28.6%, p = 0.004) were more frequent in the RVO group. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the presence of carotid plaques (odds ratio [OR]: 3.15, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.38–7.16, p = 0.006), as well as smoking, LDL-C level, and baPWV were associated with RVO. Additionally, a multinomial logistic regression model showed that the presence of carotid plaques (OR: 3.94, 95% CI 1.65–9.41, p = 0.002) and LDL-C level were associated with branch RVO, whereas smoking and baPWV were associated with central RVO. In conclusion, RVO was associated with subclinical atherosclerosis markers, including carotid plaques and baPWV. These results support the hypothesis that atherosclerosis contributes to the etiology of RVO and suggest the evaluation of subclinical atherosclerosis in patients with RVO.

Abstract
It has been known that retinal vein occlusion (RVO) is associated with chronic kidney disease, especially end-stage renal disease (ESRD). However, little is known about the effect of kidney transplantation (KT) on RVO incidence in ESRD patients. This study aimed to compare the incidence of RVO in KT recipients (n = 10,498), matched ESRD patients (n = 10,498), and healthy controls (HCs, n = 10,498), using a long-term population-based cohort. The incidence of RVO was 2.74, 5.68, and 1.02 per 1000 patient-years, for the KT group, the ESRD group, and the HCs group, respectively. Adjusted hazard ratios for RVO development compared to the HCs group, were 1.53 and 3.21, in the KT group and the ESRD group, respectively. In the KT group, multivariable regression analysis indicated that an age over 50, a Charlson Comorbidity Index score over 4, and a history of desensitization therapy were associated with an increased risk of RVO. In summary, KT recipients have a lower risk for development of RVO than ESRD patients treated with dialysis. However, the risk is still higher compared to healthy people who have normal kidney functions.
