Association Between the Diabetes mellitus Duration and the Severity of Diabetic Foot Disease in Hospitalized Patients in Latin America

Magnetic Resonance Imaging Data Features to Evaluate the Efficacy of Compound Skin Graft for Diabetic Foot

This study aimed to analyze the role of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data characteristics based on the deep learning algorithm in evaluating the treatment of diabetic foot (DF) with composite skin graft. In this study, 78 patients with DF were randomly rolled into the experimental group (composite skin graft) and control group (autologous skin graft) with 39 patients in each group. MRI scans were performed before and after treatment to compare the changes of experimental observation indicators such as healing time, recurrence rate, and scar score. The results showed that T1-weighted imaging (T1WI) of the scanning sequence was considerably increased in the experimental group after treatment. The signal intensity of fat-suppressed T2-weighted imaging (T2WI) and fat-suppressed T1WI enhancement sequences was considerably decreased $\left(P<0.05\right)$ . In addition, compared with the control group, the recurrence rate, healing time, and scar score in the experimental group were considerably decreased $\left(P<0.05\right)$ . The accuracy, specificity, and sensitivity of MRI imaging information in evaluating the therapeutic effect of DF patients were 85.2%, 89.75%, and 86.47%, respectively. According to the specificity and sensitivity, the subject operating characteristic curve was drawn, and the area under the curve was determined to be 0.838. In summary, MRI image data characteristics based on the deep learning algorithm can provide auxiliary reference information for the efficacy evaluation of compound skin transplantation for DF.

Explore the Mechanism of β-Asarone on Improving Cognitive Dysfunction in Rats with Diabetic Encephalopathy

Background: The number of people with diabetes is increasing, and many patients have significantly impaired cognitive function. For patients with diabetic encephalopathy (DE), simply lowering blood sugar does not improve learning and memory. Studies have shown that β-asarone can significantly improve cognitive impairment in patients with DE, but the specific mechanism of action is unclear. Objective: This experiment hopes to use a variety of experimental methods to clarify the protective effect and mechanism of β-asarone on brain neurons during the development of DE disease. Methods: A high-sugar and high-fat diet and streptozotocin injection-induced DE rat model was used. β-asarone was administered for four weeks. The experiment used the Morris water maze test, biochemical index detection, and many methods to evaluate the neuroprotective effect of β-asarone on DE rats from various aspects and understand its mechanism. Results: β-asarone reduced neuronal cell damage and significantly improved the learning and memory ability of DE rats. In addition, β-asarone can reduce the oxidative stress response and amyloid-β accumulation in the brain of DE model rats and increase the content of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) in the brain tissue, thereby reducing neuronal cell apoptosis and playing a protective role. Conclusion: β-asarone can reduce the accumulation of oxidative stress and amyloid-β in the brain, increase the content of BDNF, reduce the apoptosis of neuronal cells, and exert neuronal protection, thereby improving the learning and memory ability of DE model rats.
