Abstract
In the past several decades, our population sleep health has fallen short of recommendations. Moreover, there has been an increase in sleep difficulties amidst COVID-19. Work consumes a huge proportion of our waking lives, and the nature of our work can impact the quantity and quality of employee sleep. Conversely, employee sleep also matters for work-related outcomes as evidence demonstrates poor employee sleep health is associated with increased presenteeism, absenteeism, and health care costs. Given the prevalence of poor sleep health in our population, the changing nature of work and increasing demands on capped time, the worksite represents a promising and potentially underexplored venue for lifestyle medicine practitioners to consider employee sleep health and, where possible, novel employee sleep health promotion programs. This article outlines the impact of work on sleep and reviews the potential for incorporating sleep into lifestyle interventions in workplace settings.

Abstract
The burden of noncommunicable chronic diseases has relevant and negative consequences to persons, health care systems, and economies worldwide. Chronic diseases are the leading cause of disability and mortality and are responsible for 90% of health care expenditure. The most common chronic diseases are diabetes mellitus (DM), cardiovascular disease, and cerebrovascular disease (stroke and vascular cognitive impairment). Modifiable risk factors (MRFs) for these conditions include hypertension, hyperlipidemia, smoking, poor diet, and low-physical activity; with hypertension being the most prevalent MRF. Most MRFs can be successfully targeted through lifestyle medicine (LSM), which is a medical specialty that addresses the root causes of chronic diseases through its primary, secondary, and tertiary preventative approaches. Lifestyle medicine comprises 6 pillars (nutrition, physical activity, sleep health, stress reduction, social connections, and substance use) which through various behavioral approaches, focus on regular physical activity, healthy eating, good quality and quantity sleep, and meaningful social connections coupled with the reduction of stress and substance use. This paper will briefly review the evidence and promise of individual LSM pillars in addressing the underlying MRFs of DM, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease (specifically stroke and vascular cognitive impairment). Lifestyle medicine holds a great promise for comprehensive and much improved population health. However, the adoption of LSM at the societal scale requires a multifaceted approach and widespread integration would galvanize a paradigm shift to prevent, treat or reverse chronic diseases from the root causes and achieve health equity.

Abstract
Introduction Prior studies have demonstrated that an intake of foods rich in dietary fiber is associated with a favorable impact on health status and body weight. However, the association between fiber intake and weight loss has not been well-studied in employer settings. This research aimed to assess the relationship between dietary fiber and weight loss among individuals participating in the Full Plate Living (FPL) program. Methods The 16-week plant-predominant fiber-rich eating program was delivered to 72 employers, primarily in the Southwest U.S., over 3 years (2017-2019). Participants received weekly video lessons, FPL materials, and additional online resources. A retrospective analysis of repeated measures was conducted using participant data obtained from 4,477 participants, of which 2,792 (62.5%) reduced body weight. Analysis of variance with post hoc analysis was used to assess the statistical significance of the changes between baseline and follow-up measures of dietary fiber intake in each of the food categories, specifically the relationship between changes in individual and combined (composite) daily servings of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, beans, and nuts on body weight measures among three groups at follow-up: those who lost, maintained, or gained weight. Multilevel modeling was used to test the hypothesis that increased intake of fiber was associated with greater weight loss. Results The mean weight loss for the weight loss group was 3.28 kg. As compared to the two other groups, the intake of whole fiber-rich foods at follow-up was significantly higher among the weight loss group with fruits (2.45 servings), vegetables (2.99 servings), beans (1.03 servings), and total fiber composites (9.07 servings; P < 0.001). A significant increase in servings of grains was also noted (P < 0.05). Multilevel modeling demonstrated that a higher total fiber composite (Model 1), as well as higher intakes of either vegetables or fruits (Model 2), resulted in greater weight loss. Discussion Our findings indicate that the FPL program can be a part of a lifestyle medicine approach to healthy eating and weight loss. Delivering the program in clinical, community, and workplace settings can increase its reach as an effective and low-cost offering.

Abstract
Lifestyle medicine (LM) is a rapidly emerging clinical discipline that focuses on intensive therapeutic lifestyle changes to treat chronic disease, often producing dramatic health benefits. In spite of these well-documented benefits of LM approaches to provide evidence-based care that follows current clinical guidelines, LM practitioners have found reimbursement challenging. The objectives of this paper are to present the results of a cross-sectional survey of LM practitioners regarding lifestyle medicine reimbursement and to propose policy priorities related to the ability of practitioners to implement and achieve reimbursement for these necessary services. Results from a closed, online survey in 2019 were analyzed, with a total of n = 857 included in this analysis. Results were descriptively analyzed. This manuscript articulates policy proposals informed by the survey results. The study sample was 58% female, with median age of 51. A minority of the sample (17%) reported that all their practice was LM, while 56% reported that some of their practice was LM. A total of 55% of practitioners reported not being able to receive reimbursement for LM practice. Of those survey respondents who provided an answer to the question of what would make the practice of LM easier (n = 471), the following suggestions were offered: reimbursement overall (18%), reimbursement for more time spent with patients (17%), more support from leadership (16%), policy measures to incentivize health (13%), education in LM for practitioners (11%), LM-specific billing codes and billing knowledge along with better electronic medical record (EMR) capabilities and streamlined reporting/paperwork (11%), and reimbursement for the extended care team (10%). Proposed policy changes focus on three areas of focus: (1) support for the care process using a LM approach, (2) reimbursement emphasizing outcomes of health, patient experience, and delivering person-centered care, and (3) incentivizing treatment that produces disease remission/reversal. Rectifying reimbursement barriers to lifestyle medicine practice will require a sustained effort from health systems and policy makers. The urgency of this transition towards lifestyle medicine interventions to effectively address the epidemic of chronic diseases in a way that can significantly improve outcomes is being hindered by current reimbursement policies and models.
