Abstract
BACKGROUND People with disability living in supported accommodation experience ongoing health disparities. Physical activity and dietary quality are factors that may minimise the risk of chronic disease, however this population may experience a range of biopsychosocial barriers to physical activity and healthy eating. OBJECTIVE The aim of this review was to synthesise the biopsychosocial determinants of physical activity and healthy eating for people with disability living in supported accommodation, as reported by existing qualitative research. METHODS A systematic review of qualitative evidence was conducted according to the JBI's methodological guidance. In September 2023, five academic databases were searched for relevant literature published since database inception. A secondary analysis of the results of included studies was guided by the International Framework for Functioning, Disability, and Health (ICF), using the ICF Linking Rules. RESULTS A total of 31 articles were included. The analysis identified 154 determinants of physical activity and 112 determinants of healthy eating. Determinants were most prominently representative of environmental factors that captured the health promoting role and attitudes of staff, alongside the influence of the organisational context. CONCLUSION This review provided evidence for the complex interactions between body functions and structures, activities and participation, personal factors, and the environment that influence physical activity and healthy eating within supported accommodation. Although there is a limited body of evidence to guide practice, the findings highlight the multifactorial nature of interventions that can be utilised by direct care professionals and adapted to the individual needs and interests of people with disability.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Lifestyle modification interventions for adults with intellectual disabilities have had, to date, mixed effectiveness. This study aimed to understand how lifestyle modification interventions for adults with intellectual disabilities work, for whom they work and in what circumstances. METHODS A realist evidence synthesis was conducted that incorporated input from adults with intellectual disabilities and expert researchers. Following the development of an initial programme theory based on key literature and input from people with lived experience and academics working in this field, five major databases (MEDLINE, EMBASE, CINAHL, PsycINFO and ASSIA) and clinical trial repositories were systematically searched. Data from 79 studies were synthesised to develop context, mechanism and outcome configurations (CMOCs). RESULTS The contexts and mechanisms identified related to the ability of adults with intellectual disabilities to actively take part in the intervention, which in turn contributes to what works, for whom and in what circumstances. The included CMOCs related to support involvement, negotiating the balance between autonomy and behaviour change, fostering social connectedness and fun, accessibility and suitability of intervention strategies and delivery and broader behavioural pathways to lifestyle change. It is also essential to work with people with lived experiences when developing and evaluating interventions. CONCLUSIONS Future lifestyle interventions research should be participatory in nature, and accessible data collection methods should also be explored as a way of including people with severe and profound intellectual disabilities in research. More emphasis should be given to the broader benefits of lifestyle change, such as opportunities for social interaction and connectedness.

Abstract
BACKGROUND People with intellectual disability have a poorer health status than the general population. In The Netherlands, support workers play a key role in meeting health support needs of people with intellectual disability. Research on how people with intellectual disability and their support workers experience the support worker's role in preventing, identifying, and following up health needs of people with intellectual disability is scarce. To enhance health support of people with intellectual disability it is crucial that we understand how health support is delivered in everyday practice. Therefore, this study investigated experiences of people with intellectual disability and support workers with the health support of people with intellectual disability. METHOD Data collection consisted of six focus group (FG) discussions with between four and six participants (N = 27). The FGs consisted of three groups with support workers (n = 15), two groups with participants with mild to moderate intellectual disability (n = 8), and one group with family members as proxy informants who represented their relative with severe to profound intellectual disability (n = 4). The data was analysed thematically on aspects relating to health support. RESULTS We identified three main themes relevant to the health support of people with intellectual disability: 1) dependence on health support, 2) communication practices in health support, and 3) organizational context of health support. Dependence on health support adresses the way in which support workers meet a need that people with intellectual disability cannot meet themselves, and communication practices and organizational context are identified as systems in which health support takes place. CONCLUSION This study investigated experiences with the health support of people with intellectual disability from the perspectives of people with intellectual disability and support workers. We discuss the dependence of people with intellectual disability and the complexity of health support in everyday practice. We provide practical implications that can strengthen support workers in the provision of health support for people with intellectual disability in everyday practice. The findings of this study emphasize the need for intellectual disability care-provider organizations to establish policies around consistency in support staff to make it easier to identify and follow up health needs, and an environment where support staff can develop their expertise concerning communication practices, lifestyle choices, and identifying and following up health needs.

Abstract
This systematic review of literature aimed to synthesize the multilevel factors related to physical activity (PA) among adults (age 18-65) with intellectual disability living in group homes. Keyword searches were used to identify articles from electronic databases, resulting in the inclusion of 10 articles for full-text review. Data were extracted relating to study and sample characteristics and study findings. Methodological quality of the studies was also evaluated. Factors related to PA in group homes were identified at all levels of the social-ecological model. Intrapersonal factors (e.g., health and functional status, attitude to PA), interpersonal factors (e.g., staff attitude, encouragement for PA, and coparticipation in PA), and organizational factors (e.g., program offerings, staff education, and staff-client ratios) were prominent findings in the reviewed studies. The findings support a social-ecological approach for PA promotion in group homes that target intrapersonal, interpersonal, and organizational factors.

Abstract
BACKGROUND People with disability living in supported accommodation experience health disparities that may be partly attributed to sedentary lifestyle behaviors and poor dietary quality. Healthy lifestyle interventions have been suggested as a method of health promotion for this population; however, a synthesis of their efficacy has not yet been conducted. OBJECTIVE The primary aims were to (1) identify healthy lifestyle interventions delivered to people with disability living in supported accommodation and (2) examine their efficacy in supporting health and well-being. A secondary aim was to explore whether people with disability have been involved in the codesign of these interventions. METHODS A scoping review was conducted following the Joanna Briggs Institute's guidance for conducting scoping reviews, and six databases were searched from January 2011 to November 2021. RESULTS Thirty-two studies were included. Identified intervention types included training and education, exercise programs, and multicomponent interventions. A broad range of outcomes were examined; however, findings regarding efficacy were overall mixed and limited due to significant heterogeneity and the underreporting of consistently measured outcomes. The codesign of interventions in consultation with people with disability was underexplored. CONCLUSIONS Health promotion training for staff and tailored education for people with disability hold promise in creating a care environment that supports a healthy lifestyle. The paucity of interventions developed in consultation with people with disability is concerning and highlights the importance of meaningful co-design. The development of a theoretically informed intervention that is codesigned and addresses the broader social determinants that influence health behavior is recommended.

Abstract
BACKGROUND People with disability living in supported accommodation often experience significant health disparities, despite the availability of additional support. Healthy lifestyle interventions have been identified as one key health promotion strategy. Implementation science offers an opportunity to explore the factors that influence the efficacy and sustainability of these interventions, yet its application in this context has been underutilized. OBJECTIVE This systematic review synthesized the barriers and enablers to the implementation of healthy lifestyle interventions delivered to people with disability living in supported accommodation settings. METHODS A systematic review was conducted following Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines. A search for relevant literature published between January 2011 and November 2021 was conducted across six databases. The findings of included studies were coded and analyzed according to the domains and constructs of the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research (CFIR) via deductive content analysis. RESULTS Five studies were included, and their findings were mapped to 21 out of 38 constructs under the CFIR. Interventions from each study delivered health promotion education and training to staff and/or people with disability. The most prominent determinants that influenced implementation success included an intervention's relevance and its flexibility to adapt to the needs of people with disability, alongside organizational resourcing, and stakeholder endorsement in supporting implementation. CONCLUSIONS The CFIR provided a systematic approach to explore the implementation of healthy lifestyle interventions. However, further research that is grounded in and guided by implementation science theories is warranted. Despite the scarcity of literature, several compelling, yet preliminary recommendations were drawn from the findings.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE People with intellectual disabilities (ID) are largely dependent on their environment to live healthily and, in this, ID-support organizations play a vital role. An environmental asset mapping tool for ID-support settings has been developed. This study aims to provide insight into whether or not the tool can provide a comprehensive view on assets in the system and actionable knowledge to improve health-promoting capacities in ID-support settings. METHODS Fifty-seven users from four setting completed the tool on availability, user satisfaction, and dreams regarding social, physical, organizational, and financial assets. RESULTS The findings provide a comprehensive view of available assets. Together with user satisfaction and dreams for improvements, they provide actionable knowledge for improving the health-promoting capacities of the settings, including: (1) how use of available assets can be improved, (2) the type of assets that should be enriched, and (3) the assets that can be added to the system. CONCLUSION The asset mapping tool provides a comprehensive view on assets in the system and actionable knowledge to improve health-promoting capacities in ID-support settings. PRACTICE IMPLICATIONS ID-support organizations can use the tool to generate actionable bottom-up knowledge for priority setting and implementing interventions to improve their health-promoting capacities.

Abstract
Promoting healthier lifestyles in people with intellectual disabilities is important in order to improve health and reduce health inequalities. Few studies have explored how health-promotion interventions for people with intellectual disabilities in community-based settings are experienced. The aim of this study was to explore residents', staff members' and rehabilitation professionals' experiences of how a health-promotion intervention affected the habits of people living in a group home regarding eating habits and physical activities and staffs' ways of working. Semi-structured group interviews were conducted with five residents, six staff members and five rehabilitation professionals. The group discussions were analysed with content analysis separately for each group. Four different categories described residents', staff members' and rehabilitation professionals' views respectively. It is suggested that including people with intellectual disabilities as active parties throughout the process would facilitate implementation of a health-promotion profile in community residences.

Abstract
Supported housing for people with mental and intellectual disabilities (IDs) is an important setting for health and may contribute positively and negatively to residents' health. The aim of this study was to explore health promotion practices and services in supported housing in Denmark using a mixed-methods design comprising qualitative group interviews with managers and employees (n = 12) and a nationwide survey among managers (n = 276) and employees from supported housing facilities (n = 315). This study showed that employees tried to integrate health promotion in the daily work with residents, but efforts primarily focused on individual behavior and motivation. Findings points to several challenges and barriers, including ambivalent attitudes towards smoking and beliefs that health promotion undermines self-determination and empowerment. To build supportive environments for people with mental and IDs, we need to focus on the attitudes, values and competences of managers and employees to tackle misconceptions about smoking, raise awareness about the wider determinants and promote structural changes.

Abstract
People with intellectual and/or developmental disability (I/DD) commonly have complex health care needs, but little is known about how their health information is managed in supported accommodation, and across health services providers. This study aimed to describe the current health information infrastructure (i.e., how data and information are collected, stored, communicated, and used) for people with I/DD living in supported accommodation in Australia. It involved a scoping review and synthesis of research, policies, and health documents relevant in this setting. Iterative database and hand searches were conducted across peer-reviewed articles internationally in English and grey literature in Australia (New South Wales) up to September 2015. Data were extracted from the selected relevant literature and analyzed for content themes. Expert stakeholders were consulted to verify the authors' interpretations of the information and content categories. The included 286 sources (peer-reviewed n = 27; grey literature n = 259) reflect that the health information for people with I/DD in supported accommodation is poorly communicated, coordinated and integrated across isolated systems. 'Work-as-imagined' as outlined in policies, does not align with 'work-as-done' in reality. This gap threatens the quality of care and safety of people with I/DD in these settings. The effectiveness of the health information infrastructure and services for people with I/DD can be improved by integrating the information sources and placing people with I/DD and their supporters at the centre of the information exchange process.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Many people with intellectual disabilities (ID) living in community-based residences have been found to have unhealthy diet and weight disturbances. In Norway, a majority of people with ID live in such residences. AIMS The aim of the study was to examine factors affecting the caregivers' opportunity to promote a healthy diet among the residents. METHODS AND PROCEDURES A concept mapping methodology was adopted, including group-based brainstorming, idea synthesising, sorting, rating and analysis of the results. Informants were caregivers in four different community residences for people with mild to moderate ID in the southeast of Norway. A total of 13 informants were recruited (12 females and 1 male), and 10 informants completed two sessions. RESULTS Eight clusters were identified as affecting the caregivers' ability to promote a healthy diet: "Availability and accessibility", "Guidance and autonomy", "Competence among staff", "Planning and involvement", "Customization", "External conditions affecting staff", "Legislation, rules and structure" and "Everyday challenges", each including both barriers and facilitators. CONCLUSIONS AND IMPLICATIONS Multiple factors affect the caregivers' ability to promote a healthy diet. Caregivers' opportunity to promote a healthy diet is complex. Availability and accessibility of healthy food is crucial, but a healthy diet also requires time and competence among the caregivers.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Programs to change health behaviours have been identified as one way to reduce health inequalities experienced by disadvantaged groups. The objective of this study was to examine the effectiveness of a behaviour change programme to increase walking and reduce sedentary behaviour of adults with intellectual disabilities. METHODS We used a cluster randomised controlled design and recruited participants over 18 years old and not regularly involved in physical activity from intellectual disabilities community-based organisations. Assessments were carried out blind to allocation. Clusters of participants were randomly allocated to the Walk Well program or a 12-week waiting list control. Walk Well consisted of three face-to-face physical activity consultations incorporating behaviour change techniques, written resources for participants and carers, and an individualised, structured walking programme. The primary outcome measured with accelerometers was change in mean step count per day between baseline and 12 weeks. Secondary outcomes included percentage time per day sedentary and in moderate-vigorous physical activity (MVPA), body mass index (BMI), and subjective well being. RESULTS One hundred two participants in 50 clusters were randomised. 82 (80.4%) participants completed the primary outcome. 66.7% of participants lived in the most deprived quintile on the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation. At baseline, participants walked 4780 (standard deviation 2432) steps per day, spent 65.5% (standard deviation 10.9) of time sedentary and 59% percent had a body mass in the obesity range. After the walking programme, the difference between mean counts of the Walk Well and control group was 69.5 steps per day [95% confidence interval (CI) -1054 to 1193.3]. There were no significant between group differences in percentage time sedentary 1.6% (95% CI -2.984 to 6.102), percentage time in MVPA 0.3% (95% CI -0.7 to 1.3), BMI -0.2 kg/m(2) (95% CI -0.8 to 0.4) or subjective well-being 0.3 (95% CI -0.9 to 1.5). CONCLUSIONS This is the first published trial of a walking program for adults with intellectual disabilities. Positively changing physical activity and sedentary behaviours may require more intensive programmes or upstream approaches to address the multiple social disadvantages experienced by adults with intellectual disabilities. Since participants spent the majority of their time sedentary, home-based programmes to reduce sitting time may be a viable health improvement approach.
