Abstract
PURPOSE OF REVIEW The relationship between antiretroviral therapy (ART) and cancer treatment outcomes among people living with HIV (PLWH) in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) is complex and poorly understood for many cancers. We aimed to summarize existing evidence from LMICs regarding the benefit of ART on cancer treatment-related outcomes. RECENT FINDINGS We included twelve observational studies that reported associations between ART status and cancer treatment outcomes among HIV-positive patients in LMICs. Most confirmed ART was associated with improved cancer treatment outcomes. Heterogeneity in cancers under study, outcome measurement, categorization of ART status, and reporting of HIV-related immune function made formal comparison between studies untenable. Where evaluated, ART generally has a positive effect on cancer outcomes in people with HIV in LMICs. However, there remains a substantial gap in the literature regarding the impact of ART on treatment outcomes for most cancer types. Future research should focus on the optimal timing and integration of ART and cancer treatment for PLWH with strategies applicable to constrained-resource settings.

Abstract
The topic is how to achieve long-term protective anti-tumor immunity by anti-cancer vaccination and what are its mechanisms. Cancer vaccines should instruct the immune system regarding relevant cancer targets and contain signals for innate immunity activation. Of central importance is T-cell mediated immunity and thus a detailed understanding of cognate interactions between tumor antigen (TA)-specific T cells and TA-presenting dendritic cells. Microbes and their associated molecular patterns initiate early inflammatory defense reactions that can contribute to the activation of antigen-presenting cells (APCs) and to costimulation of T cells. The concommitant stimulation of naive TA-specific CD4+ and CD8+ T cells with TAs and costimulatory signals occurs in T-APC clusters that generate effectors, such as cytotoxic T lymphocytes and T cell mediated immunological memory. Information about how such memory can be maintained over long times is updated. The role that the bone marrow with its specialized niches plays for the survival of memory T cells is emphasized. Examples are presented that demonstrate long-term protective anti-tumor immunity can be achieved by post-operative vaccination with autologous cancer vaccines that are modified by virus infection.

Abstract
Effective vaccines against various urologically important diseases have been established for a long time, nevertheless, vaccination activities are generally underperformed in urology. Consistently low vaccination rates, e.g. for human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines and a widespread vaccination hesitancy characterize the situation especially in men. This article highlights the importance of various aspects of vaccinations in urology and focuses on the improvement of consultation techniques for vaccinations to increase the vaccination rate and acceptance in the future.

Abstract
As a common type of renal cancer, renal cell carcinoma (RCC) has a high annual mortality rate. The incidence of RCC has been increasing in China and worldwide. A large number cases of RCC are diagnosed at late stages, often with local and/or systematic metastasis. Surgical resection of RCC is only suitable for a small number of patients with early stage tumors, and thus, novel therapeutic methods are required. Junctional adhesion molecule 3 (Jam3) is a member of the junctional adhesion molecule family, which has been linked to epithelial and cancer cell proliferation. The present study investigated whether the Jam3 gene affected RCC growth via proliferation and apoptosis. The expression and biological function of Jam3 in renal carcinoma cells was investigated. The mRNA and protein levels of Jam3 were examined by reverse transcription‑polymerase chain reaction and western blot analyses. The role of Jam3 in the migration and apoptosis of renal carcinoma cells was determined using small interfering RNA, wound‑healing assays, flow cytometry, and cell migration assays. In the cell migration assays, E‑cadherin, N‑cadherin, integrin β1, and matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)‑2 proteins were detected by western blot analysis. It was shown that the expression of Jam3 was significantly elevated in human renal carcinoma cells compared with that in renal tubular epithelial cells. The knockdown of Jam3 inhibited renal carcinoma cell migration and promoted renal carcinoma cell apoptosis. It also increased the protein levels of E‑cadherin and reduced the protein levels of N‑cadherin, integrin β1 and MMP‑2. The inhibition of Jam3 promoted migration and suppressed apoptosis of renal carcinoma cells via regulation of the expression of E‑cadherin, N‑cadherin, integrin β1 and MMP‑2. Therefore, Jam3 was suggested as a novel target gene for the diagnosis and treatment of RCC.

Abstract
Immunotherapy has recently catapulted to the forefront of treatments for patients with solid tumors. Given its inherent immunogenic properties, renal cell carcinoma (RCC) has historically responded to immunotherapy and remains primed for further development. Although immunotherapy with high-dose interleukin 2 was a primary treatment for advanced RCC (aRCC), recent discoveries of key molecular and immunological alterations have led to the FDA-approval of nivolumab, an antiprogrammed cell death inhibitor, which has demonstrated an overall survival in patients with previously treated aRCC. However, despite recent therapeutic advances, aRCC remains an incurable disease for most patients. In this review, we assess the current landscape and future developments of immunotherapy in aRCC.
