Abstract
The advantage of using an Enamel matrix derivative EMD Emdogain as an intracanal medication could be a manner to strength the tooth structure, improving the physical and chemical properties of dentin. We tested, in vitro, the effect of Emdogain on the surface microhardness and chemical composition of root dentin. Ten human teeth were used to produce dentin specimens originated from the canal walls (n = 30) that remained in contact to Emdogain gel for 90 days. Baseline and 90-days after Emdogain treatment measurements were performed using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (ATR/FTIR), Scanning Electron Microscopy/Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (SEM/EDS) and Knoop indenters. The use of EMD (Emdogain) for 90 days in contact with human root canal dentin specimens did not alter the microhardness and morphology of dentin. The elemental structure of dentin was altered because there was a reduction in carbonate content.

Abstract
This review intended to provide an overview of the effects of dental materials, used in dentin-pulp complex and dental pulp regeneration, on angiogenesis processes during regenerative endodontic procedures. An electronic search was performed in PubMed and MEDLINE databases via OVID using the keywords mentioned in the PubMed and MeSH headings for English language published articles from January 2005-April 2014 that evaluated the angiogenic properties of different dental materials used in regenerative endodontic procedures. Of the articles identified in an initial search, only 40 articles met the inclusion criteria set for this review. Vital pulp therapy materials might have positive effects on angiogenesis events, while most of the canal irrigating solutions and antibiotic pastes have anti-angiogenic activity except for EDTA. Future clinical studies will be helpful in defining the mechanisms of action for dental materials that promote or inhibit angiogenesis events at applied areas.

Abstract
AIM The aim of this study is to evaluate the response of human pulp tissue to mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA), Emdogain (EMD), and combination of MTA/EMD. MATERIALS AND METHODS This study was performed on sixty intact first and second premolars of human maxillary and mandibular teeth. A standard pulpal exposure was done on all the teeth and was divided into three groups of twenty teeth each and was capped with MTA, EMD, and MTA/EMD combination. The final restoration was done with resin-modified glass ionomer cement. The teeth were then extracted on the 15th or 45th day and histological evaluation done. RESULTS Differences in inflammatory response and thickness of dentin bridge formation of the exposed pulp to the three different groups were statistically evaluated using Chi-square and Mann-Whitney tests and were found to be significant. No significant difference was found between MTA/EMD and MTA in terms of calcified bridge formation and pulp inflammatory response to the capping materials. CONCLUSIONS MTA and MTA/EMD combination produced a better quality hard tissue response compared with the use of EMD.
