Abstract
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Neurolymphomatosis (NL) is characterized by lymphomatous infiltration of the peripheral nervous system presenting as the initial manifestation of a lymphoma (primary NL [PNL]) or in relapse of a known lymphoma (secondary NL [SNL]). This report details and compares the neurologic clinicopathologic characteristics of these 2 groups. METHODS This retrospective study was performed on patients diagnosed with pathologically confirmed NL in nerve between January 1, 1992, and June 31, 2020. Patient clinical characteristics, neurologic examination, imaging studies, EMG, and nerve biopsy data were collected, analyzed, and compared between PNL and SNL. RESULTS A total of 58 patients were identified (34 PNL and 24 SNL). Time from neurologic symptom onset to diagnosis was longer in PNL at 18.5 months compared with 5.5 months in SNL (p = 0.01). Neurologic symptoms were similar in both patient groups and included primarily sensory loss (98%), severe pain (76%), and asymmetric weakness (76%). A wide spectrum of EMG-confirmed different neuropathy patterns were observed, but patients with SNL had increased numbers of mononeuropathies (n = 8) compared with PNL (n = 1, p = 0.01). MRI studies detected NL more frequently (86%) compared with fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG)-PET CT imaging studies (60%) (p = 0.007). Nerve biopsies revealed B-cell lymphoma (PNL n = 32, SNL n = 22), followed by T-cell lymphoma (PNL n = 2, SNL n = 2), with increased demyelination in both groups and increased axonal degeneration (p = 0.01) and multifocal myelinated fiber loss (p = 0.04) significant in SNL vs PNL. Identifying SNL resulted in patient treatment modifications but a worse prognosis compared with PNL (p = 0.025). DISCUSSION While PNL and SNL are both primarily painful and asymmetric neuropathies with axonal and demyelinating features on EMG and nerve biopsy, SNL presents somewhat differently than PNL with fulminant, asymmetric often mononeuropathies better detected on MRI than FDG-PET/CT. The focal pattern of SNL is likely a result of residual cancer cells that evaded initial chemotherapy, which does not cross the blood-nerve barrier, and these cells can later recur and result in fulminant disease. Although still resulting in a poorer prognosis, identifying SNL is important because this changed treatment and management in every SNL case.

Abstract
Neurolymphomatosis (NL) is a rare neurologic manifestation of non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) with poor prognosis. Investigations including MRI, PET/CT, nerve biopsy and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) analysis can aid the diagnosis of NL. In this study, we presented a case of NL with co-existing myelin-associated glycoprotein (MAG) antibody. The patient first presented with symptoms of peripheral neuropathy involving multiple cranial nerves and cauda equina, and later developed obstructive hydrocephalus and deep matter lesions. He also had persistently positive MAG antibody, but did not develop electrophysiologically proven neuropathy and monoclonal immunoglobulin. The final brain biopsy confirmed diffuse large B cell lymphoma.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Neurolymphomatosis (NL) refers to lymphomatous infiltration of the peripheral nervous system (PNS). NL diagnosis and treatment are challenging given the broad differential diagnosis of peripheral neuropathy, the lack of larger cohorts, and the subsequent unavailability of prognostic factors or consensus therapy. This study aimed to define characteristics and prognostic factors of NL. METHODS A systematic review of the literature (2004-2023) was performed using PubMed and Scopus databases and reported following PRISMA guidelines. Studies reporting individual patient data on cases with definitive NL diagnosis were included. Clinical, radiologic, pathologic, and outcome information were extracted. Univariable and multivariable survival analyses were performed using log-rank tests and Cox proportional hazard models. RESULTS A total of 459 NL cases from 264 studies were accumulated. NL was the first manifestation of malignancy (primary NL) in 197 patients. PNS relapse of known non-Hodgkin lymphoma (secondary NL) occurred in 262 cases after a median 12 months. NL predominantly presented with rapidly deteriorating, asymmetric painful polyneuropathy. Infiltrated structures included peripheral nerves (56%), nerve roots (52%), plexus (33%), and cranial nerves (32%). Diagnosis was established at a median of 3 months after symptom onset with substantial delays in primary NL. It mainly relied on PNS biopsy or FDG-PET, which carried high diagnostic yields (>90%). Postmortem diagnoses were rare (3%). Most cases were classified as B-cell (90%) lymphomas. Tumor-directed therapy was administered in 96% of patients and typically consisted of methotrexate or rituximab-based polychemotherapy. The median overall survival was 18 months. Primary NL without concurrent systemic disease outside the nervous system (hazard ratio [HR]: 0.44; 95% CI 0.25-0.78; p = 0.005), performance status (ECOG <2, HR: 0.30; 95% CI 0.18-0.52; p < 0.0001), and rituximab-based treatment (HR: 0.46; 95% CI 0.28-0.73; p = 0.001) were identified as favorable prognostic markers on multivariable analysis when adjusting for clinical and sociodemographic parameters. DISCUSSION Advances in neuroimaging modalities, particularly FDG-PET, facilitate NL diagnosis and offer a high diagnostic yield. Yet, diagnostic delays in primary NL remain common. Rituximab-based therapy improves NL outcome. Findings may assist clinicians in early recognition, prognostic stratification, and treatment of NL.

Abstract
Neurolymphomatosis (NL) is a rare complication of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, characterized by the infiltration of lymphoma cells into the peripheral nerves. A 54-year-old woman initially presented with right facial palsy without any other significant symptoms and was diagnosed with Bell's palsy. Despite initial improvement, her condition recurred, prompting further evaluation. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed contrast enhancement from the tympanic segment to the surface of the masseter muscle along the right facial nerve and an adjacent mass lesion. Biopsy of the mass revealed a diagnosis of T-cell/histiocyte-rich large B-cell lymphoma. Chemotherapy resulted in complete resolution of facial palsy. Follow-up MRI confirmed the absence of contrast enhancement along the facial nerve. Facial palsy was considered to be caused by NL. This case was classified as that of primary NL because the facial palsy was the first manifestation of a hematologic malignancy. Recurrent facial palsy, which is atypical in Bell's palsy, led to further evaluation with MRI, which finally resulted in the diagnosis of malignant lymphoma. In cases of recurrent facial palsy, clinicians should consider various diagnoses, including that of NL, and advocate early imaging tests and biopsy, if possible, for accurate diagnosis and improved outcomes.

Abstract
Primary cranial neurolymphomatosis (PCNL) is a rare subtype of primary CNS lymphoma (PCNSL) in which infiltrative lymphomatous involvement is confined to cranial nerves. Here, we report a case of PCNL with successful genomic profiling. A 57-year-old male had a lengthy prediagnostic phase spanning approximately 30 months, characterized by multiple episodes of cranial neuropathies managed by steroids. At the time of diagnosis, the patient had right-sided cranial neuropathies involving cranial nerves (CN) V, VI, and VII. Pathological findings of the right cavernous lesion biopsy were consistent with large B-cell lymphoma-infiltrating nerve fibers. The clinical course was aggressive and refractory, characterized by relentless progression with the development of cervical spinal neurolymphomatosis, cerebrospinal fluid involvement, and ependymal and intraparenchymal cerebral involvement, despite multiple lines of therapy, including chemoimmunotherapy, Bruton's tyrosine kinase inhibitor, radiation, autologous stem cell transplant, chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapy (CAR-T), and whole-brain radiation. The patient survived for 22 months from the time of the initial diagnosis and 52 months after the first episode of cranial neuropathy. Next-generation sequencing identified mutations (MYD88, CD79b, and PIM1) that are frequently observed in PCNSL. The unusual findings included a total of 22 mutations involving PIM1, indicating a highly active aberrant somatic hypermutation and two missense CXCR4 mutations. CXCR4 mutations have never been described in PCNSL and may have implications for disease biology and therapeutic interventions. We provide a literature review to further elucidate PCNL.

Abstract
Primary neurolymphomatosis is the direct infiltration of lymphomatous neoplastic cells into nerve roots and/or peripheral nerves. A 67-year-old man had a 24-month history of progressive and severe left lower limb neuropathic pain, ipsilateral ankle dorsiflexion weakness and gait disturbance. Gadolinium-enhanced MRI showed thickening and enhancement of the cauda equina, L5, S1 and S2 nerve roots. 18Fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography showed concordant hypermetabolism. L5 nerve root biopsy confirmed diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. One cycle of rituximab, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine and prednisone (R-CHOP) chemotherapy resulted in remission, but this was not sustained. Primary neurolymphomatosis is rare and diagnostically challenging, and often the diagnosis is delayed. While biopsy is the gold standard for diagnosis, neuroimaging helps to characterise lesions and to determine the feasibility of biopsy.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Peripheral neurolymphomatosis (NL) is an often-misdiagnosed condition characterized by lymphomatous infiltration within the peripheral nerves. Its rarity and complexity frequently result in delayed diagnosis and suboptimal patient outcomes. This study aims to elucidate the role of the paraneurium (circumneurium) in NL, emphasizing its diagnostic and therapeutic significance. OBSERVATIONS A 72-year-old man presented with lesions on his right lower eyelid. Initial diagnostics were inconclusive until an excisional biopsy confirmed extranodal marginal zone lymphoma. Following a complete metabolic response to rituximab treatment, the patient relapsed 14 months later with progressive lymphoma and bilateral sciatic nerve involvement, as confirmed by positron emission tomography-computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. LESSONS This paper underscores the critical role of the paraneurium in NL, enhancing understanding of its pathophysiology. Integrating advanced imaging techniques have proved essential in accurately identifying neurolymphomatous involvement within the paraneurium. This study paves the way for more effective management strategies in NL and similar conditions, focusing on improving patient care and outcomes.

Abstract
Background Neoplastic lesions affecting peripheral nerves are rare in the general population and, most often, are benign peripheral nerve sheath tumors. However, a minority of lesions represent high-grade malignancies associated with a poor prognosis, such as malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors (MPNSTs). Very rarely, these tumors represent peripheral non-nerve sheath tumors (PNNSTs), such as hematological neoplasms that impair nerve function. These can be hard to distinguish from MPNSTs and other lesions arising from the nerve itself. In the present case report, we describe a rare case of direct infiltration of nerves by tumor cells of a hematological neoplasm. Methods We report the case of a 90-year-old woman with acute onset of right-sided foot palsy, sensory loss, and pain, caused by an extensive solitary mass of the sciatic nerve in the thigh. We present and discuss the clinical presentation, multimodal diagnostic procedures, and treatment. Results MRI of the right thigh and the caudal pelvis revealed a contrast-enhancing lesion infiltrating the sciatic nerve. Additionally performed staging imaging was non-revealing. After multidisciplinary discussion in the neuro-oncology tumor board, a MPNST was suspected and the patient underwent radical tumor resection. However, final histopathology revealed a diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). The patient received adjuvant palliative local radiotherapy which led to acceptable symptom control. Conclusion Rare PNNSTs, including extranodal manifestations of DLBCL can have similar clinical and radiological diagnostical features as PNSTs. Comprehensive diagnostic workup of contrast-enhancing lesions affecting peripheral nerves including MRI and metabolic imaging are recommended. Discussion in interdisciplinary tumor boards facilitates finding individual treatment approaches.

Abstract
Pronator syndrome is a median nerve entrapment neuropathy that can be difficult to diagnose due to its variable presentation and objective findings. Neurolymphomatosis is an uncommon disease in which malignant lymphocytes infiltrate central or peripheral nerve endoneurium and is often missed for prolonged periods prior to diagnosis. We present a rare case of pronator syndrome and anterior interosseous nerve palsy due to neurolymphomatosis that was occult on initial MRI in spite of the presence of a median nerve mass discovered intra-operatively during neurolysis. This case demonstrates the value of ultrasound for the examination of peripheral nerve pathology and illustrates its utility as an adjunct to MRI, in part due to the ability to screen a large region.

Abstract
Infiltration of peripheral or cranial nerves with lymphatic cells is a rare condition that is known as neurolymphomatosis (NL). The involvement could be primary or secondary and mostly occurs in patients with a history of B-cell lymphoma. The most common peripheral nerve involved is the sciatic nerve. Patients may present with painful or painless mononeuropathy or polyneuropathy, and MRI is the perfect modality to evaluate the suspicious clinical findings that may demonstrate enlargement, thickening, and enhancement of the involved nerve or an enhancing mass lesion in the course of the nerve. Biopsy can be safely performed to confirm the diagnosis. Few articles have reported the cases of peripheral nerve involvement by lymphoma as well as MRI features of this diagnosis. In this article, we report a case of NL using MRI, ultrasound, and pathologic features and also present a brief review of relevant literature.

Abstract
The perineurium surrounds each fascicle in peripheral nerves, forming part of the blood-nerve barrier. We describe its normal anatomy and function. "Perineuritis" refers to both a nonspecific histopathological finding and more specific clinicopathological entity, primary perineuritis (PP). Patients with PP are often assumed to have nonsystemic vasculitic neuropathy until nerve biopsy is performed. We systematically reviewed the literature on PP and developed a differential diagnosis for histopathologically defined perineuritis. We searched PubMed, Embase, Scopus, and Web of Science for "perineuritis." We identified 20 cases (11 M/9F) of PP: progressive, unexplained neuropathy with biopsy showing perineuritis without vasculitis or other known predisposing condition. Patients ranged in age from 18 to 75 (mean 53.7) y and had symptoms 2-24 (median 4.5) mo before diagnosis. Neuropathy was usually sensory-motor (15/20), painful (18/19), multifocal (16/20), and distal-predominant (16/17) with legs more affected than arms. Truncal numbness occurred in 6/17; 10/18 had elevated cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) protein. Electromyography (EMG) and nerve conduction studies (NCS) demonstrated primarily axonal changes. Nerve biopsies showed T-cell-predominant inflammation, widening, and fibrosis of perineurium; infiltrates in epineurium in 10/20 and endoneurium in 7/20; and non-uniform axonal degeneration. Six had epithelioid cells. 19/20 received corticosteroids, 8 with additional immunomodulators; 18/19 improved. Two patients did not respond to intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIg). At final follow-up, 13/16 patients had mild and 2/16 moderate disability; 1/16 died. Secondary causes of perineuritis include leprosy, vasculitis, neurosarcoidosis, neuroborreliosis, neurolymphomatosis, toxic oil syndrome, eosinophilia-myalgia syndrome, and rarer conditions. PP appears to be an immune-mediated, corticosteroid-responsive disorder. It mimics nonsystemic vasculitic neuropathy. Cases with epithelioid cells might represent peripheral nervous system (PNS)-restricted forms of sarcoidosis.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIM Neurolymphomatosis is defined as an infiltration of the peripheral nervous system (PNS) by malignant lymphoma cells. It is a rare entity and diagnosis is complicated especially when PNS involvement is the initial and leading symptom. To improve knowledge of the disorder and shorten the time to diagnosis, we report a series of nine patients without a history of hematologic malignancy, who were diagnosed with neurolymphomatosis after evaluation and workup of peripheral neuropathy. METHODS The patients were included from the Department of Clinical Neurophysiology at Pitié Salpêtrière and Nancy Hospitals over a period of 15 years. Diagnosis of neurolymphomatosis was confirmed by histopathologic examination for each patient. We characterized their clinical, electrophysiological, biological, imaging, and histopathologic features. RESULTS The neuropathy was characterized by pain (78%), proximal involvement (44%) or of all four limbs (67%), asymmetrical or with multifocal distribution (78%), abundant fibrillation (78%), a tendency to worsen rapidly, and significant associated weight loss (67%). Neurolymphomatosis was diagnosed principally on nerve biopsy (89%) identifying infiltration of lymphoid cells, atypical cells (78%), a monoclonal population (78%), and supported by fluorodeoxyglucose-positron emission tomography, spine or plexus MRI, cerebrospinal fluid analysis, and blood lymphocyte immunophenotyping. Six patients had systemic disease and three impairment limited to the PNS. In the latter case, progression could be unpredictable and may be diffuse and explosive, sometimes occurring years after a seemingly indolent course. INTERPRETATION This study provides better knowledge and understanding of neurolymphomatosis when neuropathy is the initial presentation.

Abstract
Neurolymphomatosis (NL) is a rare clinical entity characterized by lymphomatous infiltration of the peripheral nervous system. According to recent retrospective data, consolidative high-dose chemotherapy (HDC) with autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT) may be beneficial for NL. However, few reports to date have discussed optimal conditioning regimens. Herein, we report two cases of NL in patients with relapsed intravascular large B-cell lymphoma who received consolidative thiotepa-containing HDC-ASCT. Case 1: A 56-year-old woman who relapsed 2 months after the first complete remission (CR) and underwent ASCT. Case 2: A 65-year-old woman who relapsed 8 months after the first CR and underwent ASCT. Both patients engrafted. Time to neutrophil engraftment was 10 and 12 days after HDC-ASCT, and CR was sustained for 26 and 18 months, respectively, as of the last follow-up. Although there is little evidence supporting the utility of thiotepa-based HDC-ASCT in patients with NL, the results of this case report suggest that further studies are warranted to determine its efficacy in this setting.

Abstract
Neurolymphomatosis is an uncommon manifestation of lymphoma, often presenting with painful polyneuropathy or polyradiculopathy and concomitant distal extremity weakness. Differentiation from other etiologies resulting in similar neuropathic symptoms such as compressive or inflammatory pathologies can be difficult and often results in delayed diagnosis. Here we describe a case of neurolymphomatosis affecting a 64-year-old man with a history of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) in remission presenting with a right-sided foot drop following a gunshot wound. MRI at that time demonstrated thickening and enhancement of the cauda equina nerve roots. Over the course of the subsequent eight months, he developed left lower extremity sensory symptoms, left-sided foot drop and signs of upper motor neuron involvement, including left facial weakness, dysphonia, and dysphagia. 18F-FDG PET/CT revealed intensely avid left lumbosacral nerve roots, bilateral lower extremity and left upper extremity neurovascular bundles. Left sural nerve biopsies showed infiltration of DLBCL and confirmed neurolymphomatosis. We highlight the role of 18F-FDG PET/CT, with histological verification, for the diagnosis of an extended course of neurolymphomatosis occurring in the absence of typical painful neuropathy but with cranial and peripheral neuropathies.

Abstract
Neuropathies of the elbow represent a spectrum of disorders that involve more frequently the ulnar, radial, and median nerves. Reported multiple pathogenic factors include mechanical compression, trauma, inflammatory conditions, infections, as well as tumor-like and neoplastic processes. A thorough understanding of the anatomy of these peripheral nerves is crucial because clinical symptoms and imaging findings depend on which components of the affected nerve are involved. Correlating clinical history with the imaging manifestations of these disorders requires familiarity across all diagnostic modalities. This understanding allows for a targeted imaging work-up that can lead to a prompt and accurate diagnosis.

Abstract
Though metastasis and malignant infiltration of the peripheral nervous system is relatively rare, physicians should have a familiarity with their presentations to allow for prompt diagnosis and initiation of treatment. This article will review the clinical presentations, diagnostic evaluation, and treatment of neoplastic involvement of the cranial nerves, nerve roots, peripheral nerves, and muscle. Due to the proximity of the neural structure traversing the skull base, metastasis to this region results in distinctive syndromes, most often associated with breast, lung, and prostate cancer. Metastatic involvement of the nerve roots is uncommon, apart from leptomeningeal carcinomatosis and bony metastasis with resultant nerve root damage, and is characterized by significant pain, weakness, and numbness of an extremity. Neoplasms may metastasize or infiltrate the brachial and lumbosacral plexuses resulting in progressive and painful sensory and motor deficits. Differentiating neoplastic involvement from radiation-induced injury is of paramount importance as it dictates treatment and prognosis. Neurolymphomatosis, due to malignant lymphocytic infiltration of the cranial nerves, nerve roots, plexuses, and peripheral nerves, deserves special attention given its myriad presentations, often mimicking acquired demyelinating neuropathies.

Abstract
CASE A 41-year-old woman with a history of high-grade B-cell lymphoma status-post chemotherapy was evaluated for a painful left posterior thigh mass and significant weakness with sensory changes. Imaging revealed a benign-appearing mass consistent with schwannoma; however, intraoperative frozen section suggested high-grade B-cell lymphoma. Subsequent restaging studies revealed metastatic disease. CONCLUSION A history of lymphoma warrants careful investigation of a posterior thigh mass, despite imaging findings consistent with nerve sheath tumor. Surgical removal of lymphomas of the nerve often proves futile, so these lesions are usually managed with medical treatment or radiation.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Neurolymphomatosis (NL) is a rare manifestation of lymphoma confined to the peripheral nervous system that is poorly understood. It can be found in the cauda equina, but extraspinal disease can be underappreciated. The authors describe how extraspinal NL progresses to the cauda equina by perineural spread and the implications of this on timely and safe diagnostic options. METHODS The authors used the Mayo Clinic medical records database to find cases of cauda equina NL with sufficient imaging to characterize the lumbosacral plexus diagnosed from tissue biopsy. Demographics (sex, age), clinical data (initial symptoms, cerebrospinal fluid, evidence of CNS involvement, biopsy location, primary or secondary disease), and imaging findings were reviewed. RESULTS Ten patients met inclusion and exclusion criteria, and only 2 of 10 patients presented with cauda equina symptoms at the time of biopsy, with 1 patient undergoing a cauda equina biopsy. Eight patients were diagnosed with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, 1 with low-grade B-cell lymphoma, and 1 with mantle cell lymphoma. Isolated spinal nerve involvement was identified in 5 of 10 cases, providing compelling evidence regarding the pathophysiology of NL. The conus medullaris was not radiologically involved in any case. Lumbosacral plexus MRI was able to identify extraspinal disease and offered diagnostically useful biopsy targets. FDG PET/CT was relatively insensitive for detecting disease in the cauda equina but was helpful in identifying extraspinal NL. CONCLUSIONS The authors propose that perineural spread of extraspinal NL to infiltrate the cauda equina occurs in two phases. 1) There is proximal and distal spread along a peripheral nerve, with eventual spread to anatomically connected nerves via junction and branch points. 2) The tumor cells enter the spinal canal through corresponding neural foramina and propagate along the spinal nerves composing the cauda equina. To diffusely infiltrate the cauda equina, a third phase occurs in which tumor cells can spread circumdurally to the opposite side of the spinal canal and enter contralateral nerve roots extending proximally and distally. This spread of disease can lead to diffuse bilateral spinal nerve disease without diffuse leptomeningeal spread. Recognition of this phasic mechanism can lead to identification of safer extraspinal biopsy targets that could allow for greater functional recovery after appropriate treatment.

Abstract
Background Neurolymphomatosis (NL) is a rare manifestation of malignant lymphoma that shows selective infiltration to the peripheral nervous system primarily or secondarily. We report a patient with secondary NL caused by germinal center B-cell (GCB)-type diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) who showed selective infiltration of the lumbar plexus to the spinal cord and massive nerve enlargement resulting in severe pain. Case presentation A 72-year-old female exhibited asymmetric motor and sensory impairments and pain in the lower limbs that progressed for five months. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed an enlarged lumbar plexus, which continued to the cauda equina via the L3 and L4 spinal nerves. Her symptoms gradually worsened. Ten months after the onset of symptoms, the enlarged cauda equina filled the spinal canal space, and the spinal cord was swollen. A cauda equina biopsy was performed, and she was diagnosed with GCB-type DLBCL with CD10 positivity. The primary tumor was found in a mammary cyst. The autopsy study did not show apparent infiltration, except in the nervous system. Conclusions Although there are many neurologic phenotypes of malignant lymphoma, the association between the cytological characteristics of lymphoma and the neurological phenotypes is still unclear. Several reports of CD10-positive secondary NL are available, whereas peripheral or central nervous tissue origin lymphoma cases are mostly negative for CD10. CD10 staining may be useful for distinguishing primary NL from secondary NL. NL often has a strong organotropism for peripheral nervous tissue, which makes early diagnosis challenging. Abstract
By recognizing anatomic and radiologic patterns of rare and often misdiagnosed peripheral nerve tumors/lesions, we have defined mechanisms for the propagation of neural diseases. The novel concept of the nervous system serving as a complex system of "highways" driving the neural and perineural spread of these lesions is described in three examples: Intraneural dissection of joint fluid in intraneural ganglion cysts, perineural spread of cancer cells, and dissemination of unknown concentrations of neurotrophic/inhibitory factors for growth in hamartomas/choristomas of nerve. Further mapping of these pathways to identify the natural history of diseases, the spectrum of disease evolution, the role of genetic mutations, and how these neural pathways interface with the lymphatic, vascular, and cerebrospinal systems may lead to advances in targeted treatments.
