Abstract
Endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) widely exist in people's production and life which have great potential to damage human and animal health. Over the past few decades, growing attention has been paid to the impact of EDCs on human health, as well as immune system. So far, researchers have proved that EDCs (such as bisphenol A (BPA), phthalate, tetrachlorodibenzodioxin (TCDD), etc.) affect human immune function and promotes the occurrence and development of autoimmune diseases (ADs). Therefore, in order to better understand how EDCs affect ADs, we summarized the current knowledge about the impact of EDCs on ADs, and elaborated the potential mechanism of the impact of EDCs on ADs in this review.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The pathological types and long-term prognosis of glomerular diseases related to mercury exposure are unclear. This study retrospectively examined 41 cases of glomerulonephropathy caused by mercury-containing cosmetics. METHODOLOGY Forty-one subjects with glomerular diseases presumably caused by mercury-containing cosmetics were selected. Clinical features, kidney biopsy, treatment, and follow-up data were collected. RESULTS All patients were female with an average age of 39.4 ± 6.6 years at diagnosis. Median time of exposure to mercury-containing cosmetics was six months, and average urine mercury level was 66.80 ± 38.55ug/(g·Cr). Most patients presented with nephrotic syndrome. Renal histopathology showed membranous nephropathy in 22 patients (53.65%), minimal change disease in 13 patients (31.71%), IgA nephropathy with minimal change disease in 5 patients (12.20%), and focal segmental glomerulosclerosis in 1 patient. Median time of exposure to mercury was longer and the proportion of patients with autoantibodies (mainly antinuclear antibodies) was higher in patients with membranous nephropathy. Both blood phospholipase A2 receptor -Ab and kidney tissue phospholipase A2 receptor were negative. Thirty-six patients received glucocorticosteroids and/or immunosuppressants. Five patients were treated with an angiotensin receptor blocker, and nine patients were treated with chelation therapy. The median follow-up time was 40 months (range 27-94). All patients achieved complete remission, and the median time to complete remission was one month. They all successfully discontinued the drugs without relapsing; withdrawal time was 26 months. CONCLUSION Membranous nephropathy was the most common pathological type in mercury-induced glomerular disease. Patients were sensitive to glucocorticosteroids and immunosuppressants and achieved complete remission quickly. Contrary to primary glomerulonephritides, patients with mercury-induced glomerular diseases had no relapses after withdrawal of the mercury containing cosmetics.

Abstract
Mercury (Hg) is widely recognized as a neurotoxic metal, besides it can also act as a proinflammatory agent and immunostimulant, depending on individual exposure and susceptibility. Mercury exposure may arise from internal body pathways, such as via dental amalgams, preservatives in drugs and vaccines, and seafood consumption, or even from external pathways, i.e., occupational exposure, environmental pollution, and handling of metallic items and cosmetics containing Hg. In susceptible individuals, chronic low Hg exposure may trigger local and systemic inflammation, even exacerbating the already existing autoimmune response in patients with autoimmunity. Mercury exposure can trigger dysfunction of the autoimmune responses and aggravate immunotoxic effects associated with elevated serum autoantibodies titers. The purpose of the present review is to provide a critical overview of the many issues associated with Hg exposure and autoimmunity. In addition, the paper focuses on individual susceptibility and other health effects of Hg.

Abstract
Oral lichen planus and lichenoid lesions comprise a group of disorders of the oral mucosa that likely represent a common reaction pattern to 1 or more unknown antigens. The coexistence of hyperkeratotic striation/reticulation, varying degrees of mucosal inflammation from mild erythema to severe widespread ulceration, and a band-like infiltrate of mononuclear inflammatory cells including activated T lymphocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells, are considered suggestive of oral lichen planus and lichenoid lesions. Several classification systems of oral lichen planus and lichenoid lesions have been attempted, although none seem to be comprehensive. In this paper, we present a classification of oral lichen planus and lichenoid lesions that includes oral lichen planus, oral lichenoid contact lesions, oral lichenoid drug reactions, oral lichenoid lesions of graft vs. host disease, discoid lupus erythematosus, and systemic lupus erythematosus, lichen planus-like variant of paraneoplastic pemphigus/paraneoplastic autoimmune multiorgan syndrome, chronic ulcerative stomatitis, lichen planus pemphigoides, solitary fixed drug eruptions, and lichen sclerosus. We present the clinical and diagnostic aspects of oral lichen planus and lichenoid lesions, and discuss related treatment options.

Abstract
We investigated lead (Pb)-induced oxidative stress and immune damage in the chicken bursa of Fabricius (BF) and the ameliorative effect of selenium (Se). Seven-day-old male chickens were randomly divided into four groups and were provided standard diet and drinking water, Na2SeO3 added to the standard diet and drinking water, standard diet and (CH3COO)2Pb added to drinking water, and Na2SeO3 added to the standard diet and (CH3COO)2Pb added to drinking water for 30, 60, and 90 days. The presence of Pb inhibited total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC), glutathione peroxidase (GPx), glutathione S-transferase (GST), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and catalase (CAT) activities; decreased glutathione (GSH) content; increased malondialdehyde (MDA) and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) contents; inhibited interleukin (IL)-2 and interferon-γ (IFN-γ) messenger RNA (mRNA) expression; and increased IL-4, IL-6, IL-10, IL-12β, and IL-17 mRNA expression. The presence of Se relieved all of the above Pb-induced changes. There were close correlations among GSH, CAT, T-AOC, SOD, GPx, MDA, and H2O2 and among IL-2, IL-4, IL-6, IL-12β, IL-17, and IFN-γ. Our data showed that Pb caused oxidative stress and immune damage in the chicken BF. Se alleviated Pb-induced oxidative stress and immune damage in the chicken BF.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Connective tissue disease (CTD) is a group of inflammatory disorders of unknown aetiology. Patients with CTD often report hypersensitivity to nickel. We examined the frequency of delayed type hypersensitivity (DTH) (Type IV allergy) to metals in patients with CTD. METHODS Thirty-eight patients; 9 with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), 16 with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and 13 with Sjögren's syndrome (SS) and a control group of 43 healthy age- and sex-matched subjects were included in the study. A detailed metal exposure history was collected by questionnaire. Metal hypersensitivity was evaluated using the optimised lymphocyte transformation test LTT-MELISA(®) (Memory Lymphocyte Immuno Stimulation Assay). RESULTS In all subjects, the main source of metal exposure was dental metal restorations. The majority of patients (87%) had a positive lymphocyte reaction to at least one metal and 63% reacted to two or more metals tested. Within the control group, 43% of healthy subjects reacted to one metal and only 18% reacted to two or more metals. The increased metal reactivity in the patient group compared with the control group was statistically significant (P<0.0001). The most frequent allergens were nickel, mercury, gold and palladium. CONCLUSIONS Patients with SLE, RA and SS have an increased frequency of metal DTH. Metals such as nickel, mercury and gold are present in dental restorative materials, and many adults are therefore continually exposed to metal ions through corrosion of dental alloys. Metal-related DTH will cause inflammation. Since inflammation is a key process in CTDs, it is possible that metal-specific T cell reactivity is an etiological factor in their development. The role of metal-specific lymphocytes in autoimmunity remains an exciting challenge for future studies.
